Hello everyone! This isn't a normal recap.
We want to thank you all for 1,000 followers, and we wanted to give a few gifts back because of it. We are not only doing a Q&A, but we are also going to give you a summary of the recaps that we and the people before us have done to celebrate what we've accomplished up to now. This is gonna be one long recap, so y'all buckle up for the ride!
To open up this chapter, we want to look back on all the Recappers that have been on the team as well as the ones that are currently in the team. This team has been running for around 3 years now, and there's been a lot of different members, so let's see how long this list goes.

Dear god. That is a lot of people. This list is actually in order of people joining (thank you ̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶m̶a̶n̶ Azael!).
We want to thank everyone that has been on the team. Each one of you helped keep this project alive, and not only that, passed it onto the members that are currently with it today. Thank you all.
And to all of you, Hermittpad. You guys are the reason we keep this recap going; your comments, votes, and ideas all contribute more than you could ever know! We absolutely love reading through your stories and talking to you all through discord (if you guys have a discord server our account hasn't joined please consider giving us the link!). This fandom is full of amazing people! We love each and every one of you <3
Truly, it's been an honor being such a fundamental part of this community, and we hope to continue for months to come! But now, let's take a look at the past and recap what the Recap has done over the years!
(quick note, I was doing the tagging and some users had changed and I didn't know the new one, or they were deleted completely, so the ones I couldn't find are left as I found them and bolded -Writerlight)
There is no better way to look to the past than to look at the very first Recap, which is written by @ultimatebookworm12, whom you might know today as adrilxa! This was the first recap of the Authors (back then known as the Author Recap), but it wasn't the first recap. In fact, there used to be a collective recap over on the Roleplay Recap book, where they recapped shenanigans authors and roleplayers used to do. However, they split the roleplay and author community into two separate books, so we'll start with this one!
In this recap, helicopter_stan (her old cringe username was @_Ash-Potato_, and let's be real, stanning helicopters is way cooler - Azael) started a hashtag to stop Ariyaquila from brutally murdering ender dragons in her fanfiction for selfish gains, namely #StopTheEnderDragonAbuse.
In proper Hermittpad fashion, cults were made! Namely, the OOC Mumbo and Bread cult :D
Ash_InTheFlames also hit 200 followers that week! That's amazing!
Onto the next recap written by Thea! For those of you who may not know, the HermittpadArchives account used to be a mystery roleplay account (an account run by anonymous users for the purpose of roleplay in Hermittpad). The whole account was run by the Recap Team, and we left riddles and clues for you all to discover who we were! Eventually, y'all figured us out, so the members decided to retire the account to the library (and PadCap's child) as we know it today!
Ariyaquila hit 77 followers! Congrats past Quill, if only you knew how much you'd grow :)
We've got more discord cult because man, the HP Discord used to be f- flipping crazy. This cult is the Kat cult! Where Azael and Saph switched profile pictures, and Azael being Azael didn't switch her profile picture back. Pepper and a few others decided to change their profile pictures to match, and oops it's a cult now! We started a discord server, multiple people changed their nicknames and profile pictures to the glorious kat, and there were even edited/designed versions of the kat floating around! It naturally died down after a while, but once in a while it gets a revival.
The recap after this did it's natural thing of dying (you're going to see that a lot through this), but now it's season 7 time! Adiós Season 6, you were nostalgic and fun :'D This recap was written by Adri and Hapy!
Let's start this off with some awesome milestones! vestigially hit 160 followers, congrats Sapb :>! The Recap account hit 300 followers! And we thought that was impressive back then, look at us now! :D
We also used to have a Question of the Week? Man, that died lmao, but we'll pose the question here to see what you guys think!

To the next recap, where we've got the Viva la Grianlution trend! It's a movement for the Hermittpad community to write less about Grian and focus more on other Hermits, branch out and try watching other Hermits. Of course, it's perfectly acceptable and ok to write about Grian, nothing against him or the writers for him, but it's always good to branch out :D (hey i was in that - King)
In other news, we have the now dead OOTIITRW applications open! OOTIITRW was a giant collab for all of Hermittpad run by the Recap that died so many times after the multiple revivals because goodness you all are procrastinators (although I can't talk, I'm probably worse than all of you sob :') - Azael).
Indominus_Gaming hit 200 chapters in their Oneshots book! Wow, that's a lot of writing :0
And on that delightful note, to the next recap! Written by Adri and Hapy.
Let's start with the glorious WORMITS! WORMS ON STRINGS! HERMITS ON WORMS ON STRINGS! That was a fun and fuzzy trend in Hermittpad, in fact I still have some! And I know certain people reading this have at least 50 of them lying around.
Onto milestones, paulamm2 hit 50k reads on their Grumbo oneshots! Amazing :D
To the next cHaoTiC recap (as the title implies), written by Adri! It starts off with King and Luna joining the recap (biggest mistake ever smh smh losers /j) (ayyy its me!!!!!!! That was like- 2 years ago - King) oh
Ariyaquila and adrilxa both hit 200 followers! Amazing <3
I'm sure quite a lot of you are familiar with the Bdoc Revolution, and here's where it all started :], thanks Saph.
And on to Recap #7, which... isn't a recap. King decided to entertain the readers with some fun ways to enter a room, insults, and weird icebreaking questions! You better have laughed, you unhydro hydroflasks! (I swear we're joking-)
More chaos comes with our eighth recap, written by Adri and Hapy, though isn't it technically the 7th? And here I thought King couldn't count—the Recap's numbers have been messed up since the beginning. Anyway, @noconsistentname started another revolution, the Viva La Welslution, fighting for more appreciation! Our sarcastic knight boi definitely deserves it! (also istg I cannot spell definitely without autocorrect -Livy)
FandomsUnite05 was up to no good that week, putting Hermitgang into Google Translate countless times! Errako gang, errako gang, ERRAKO GANG. Please, we can't stop laughing and it's been almost two years-
You better not press the 6th letter of the alphabet to pay respects, because the Alphabet Empire will occupy your entire inbox with a ton of letters! Also yes we wrote this part without using that letter so we won't get spammed-

Also. Very important announcement in this chapter, you better not have missed it. Xisuma says trans rights! And we all agree!
On to the next one, which is the one after the previous one! Facts, amiright?
With this recap came Hermittpadpad! And Hermittpadpadpad. And Hermittpadpadpadpad. Nowo this is not too many.
Also during that week, KingChocoFacialHair hit 200 followers! KeichiAkechi was so close to 100 followers, so the Recap Team asked the community to help them reach that milestone!
In the next recap, Adri stepped down from the Recap. We'll still remember them in our hearts <3

Now to the most serious, most important event of week 10. Drumroll, please... no one? Ah well. Anyway, the Team Angst vs. Team Fluff battle happened! And King started a Team Smut, but we don't talk about that-
Between recaps, we were sad to hear that Coolrena had passed away. She was part of our team from the very beginning, and it was heart-wrenching to hear that she had gone. We will #NeverForget Rena <3
But on a more positive note, for the next recap, Saph joined our ranks! They also started a positivity tag for all y'all! Hm, maybe we should start another one? We certainly need it!

Unfortunately, this account never did anything as Az and King are forever procrastinating. Meva400 had left for a 16 month long military mission, #MissYouMeva (she is now home safe btw! :D <3)

The Hermittpad Discord server has a banner now! Whenever the server gets boosted that is. I wish Discord didn't take boosts away after a while, just keep it there man. Anyways! A competition was hosted and there were a bunch of entries because Hermittpaders used to participate in competitions /j /lh, the beautiful artwork was made by @_mochii112_

Hermittpad, being Hermittpad, is also now having a civil war over vegetables. Scarian Cult started worshiping corn, then King being King decided to #KillTheCorn to let potatoes rule over Hermittpad after Azael and Thea were kicked out of the Corn Cult, then a third side rose up called,, Corntatos? Everytime I think Hermittpad can't get weirder it does, but I love the chaos :D

skywardrequiem joined the team in the next recap, and also hosted a Hermittpad Among Us AU! Kinda sus not gonna lie. Also, AHyperFerret hit 70 followers!
adrilxa, @One_Pan_Band, AHyperFerret, and @Pere_exe started an MCC-inspired writing competition in our 23rd Recap by King and Xye! AKA the Writing Championships!

Another one year anniversary was celebrated, pinnacle_eEeeE99's!
sixth_constellation's oneshots book hit 25k reads, and Itz_Larissa hit 130 followers and 30k reads on their oneshots book!
And not directly related to Hermittpad, but we also celebrated Grian's first MCC win and False's third! Woo Orange Ocelots!

"How are the weekly recaps made?" (also asked by MushroomFearie)
Azael: Well, we normally make them on Google Documents because Wattpad is annoying and stupid and unreliable as fuck, so I create a new doc each week, and the recappers can either gather information for the recap (info gathers) by using the Archives account or write the recap (writers). Most recappers usually stick to one each week, although recently everyone has been doing a little of everything. Finally, the editor sometimes edits the recap if they feel like it, but mostly they put the recap in wattpad and do all the tags.
"Favorite Hermitcraft moment?"
Writerlight Sys: We can never pick favorites of things, but the first moment that came to mind was when Impulse made the rail track under the grass and rode a pig in a minecart, and just his head stuck out above the ground.
Azael: That's a tough one, but I absolutely lose my shit every single time I watch the Grand Opening of Sahara in s6. They're so chaotic and it went wrong in every possible way and I love it.
King: I really liked the civil war during s6. It was fun and dramatic, and it was just a light funny thing to watch and look back on.
Crocs: I have a lot. I loved the beginning of s7 with Bdubs' and Doc's banter. I rewatch their early episodes a lot. Then later in the season when Bdubs, Scar and Mumbo found the base of the resistance, I could feel their excitement through the screen, despite being a Mycelium fan. Then there's the formation of the Boatem Pole at the start of s8, Mumbo's chair prank of s6, can you tell I'm indecisive?
Livy: I loved the whole Hermit Challenges thing, as well as Season 8 in general because they tried and experimented with so many new things!
"What's your favorite species of spider? If none, what's your favorite species of butterfly?"
Writerlight Sys: Wolf spiders and tarantulas because they can't really hurt humans and actually help us by eating insects and other spiders.
Azael: The adorable, Maratus Personatus. They're so cute and precious :>
King: I like golden orb weavers a lot, but my favorite butterflies could go on and on about; my favorites are probably peacock butterflies and queen alexandra's birdwing.
Crocs: I have such terrible arachnophobia that I literally break down shaking and crying when I see a big spider. Call me pathetic, I do not care. However I will say ironically, I find the classic tarantula kinda cute. Hold one in front of me and I will cry but in images they are cute.
Livy: You can't go wrong with the Australian peacock spider. As for butterflies, I love the Evenus Coronata!

Azael: I HATE CHEESE. IT IS THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER CONSUMED IN MY LIFE. "How long (on average) does it take to write and find everything on the recap?" (also asked by _saltedcaramel)
Writerlight Sys: 1-4 hours maybe?
Azael: 6-ish hours, most likely

"How much time "working" on the Recap is actually spent goofing off?"
Writerlight Sys: So much, but it's amazing and sometimes ends up with us crying laughing and we love it.
"What would you do differently in the Recap if you could go back?" (also asked by MushroomFearie)
Writerlight Sys: I think we're fine with what we've done so far, but we also haven't been in the team for a very long time, so the others might have something.
Azael: There's quite a lot I'd change, but the thing I'd change the most would be how the team worked. There used to be a lot of just "one person does the entire recap" or "half the members wouldn't contribute", and that led to a lot of breakdowns, overworking, and arguments. Thankfully, that doesn't happen anymore, and most of team now contributes a good amount, and we have fun times, but it's something I'd crack down on more back then.
King: oh man this is a question to ask. Okay so, back when I first joined around april 2020, it operated a lot differently. It functioned mostly via google classroom and google chats, and i think the discord server was just a small thing at the time that wasn't as used. (i dont remember that well)
We moved over to the discord server mainly during 2021 i think? That was when a main member that was pulling a lot of weight left, and thats when the style of how we worked drastically changed. Azael probably remembers better.
I do like that we changed over to discord personally, but I wish we didn't completely abandon google, as a lot of helpful stuff was in the google drive that we left behind. The google drive had a lot of stuff that Thea wrote (<3), a lot of guides and also lots of organization of different recap projects.
I can't really think of more, but I think a big thing is the Trial Member Phase that we have implemented in the training process of new members. It's been very useful in not only helping members get used to it, but also helping us learn about our new members and see how they work.
Overall, lots of things that I wish we did, but I feel like we have found an extremely good balance of how to work, and I am glad we got there.
"How much of a pain is it keeping up with Hermittpad?"
Writerlight Sys: It's not that bad imo, Hermittpad is amazing. It only gets tiresome when we get those bothersome people, but that doesn't happen often.
Azael: Honestly, a bit of a pain. Scrolling through every announcement for milestones and updates is tedious, especially considering that it's very easy to miss stuff (and people get mad when we do). Also, since the fandom is less active than it used to be, it's usually the same people updated or the same books hitting milestones and it can be tough to find appropriate books and authors to include in the recap so we can diversify it more.
King: generally speaking, for me, the worst thing about info gathering is sorting through announcements to try and find stuff. Hermittpad became easier to keep up with, at least for me, when Discord servers got a lot more prevalent and we made the Recap Account so we could check in with those
Livy: For me it's not that bad! I love just endlessly scrolling through the Hermitcraft tag and seeing what crazy stuff Hermittpadders have written :D
"Is a hotdog a sandwich?"
Writerlight Sys: Yes.
Azael: No, the bread is on the sides. Who eats their sandwich holding it on the side like that???
King: yeah obviously
Crocs: Sure, if you want it to be.

"What are some of your favorite things about being part of the team?"
Writerlight Sys: As I said earlier, the time we spend goofing off. It can make us laugh so hard and honestly makes our day.
And also the team members!! We love you guys, even if some of you can't count (*cough* King *cough* /j love ya man).
Azael: Seeing Hermittpad grow! I love talking to all of you and seeing you grow in your followers and views, and adding a little cherry on top with a recap mention :D! I also love bullying King (what a loser am i right /lh), flirting with Crocs (/p), and crying over weird fanfiction that shouldn't exist with the Writerlight system.
King: watching the recap evolve and being able to work on it continually, along with contributing to the community is honestly really fun. Having the team is also a big highlight of it.
Crocs: Watching King and Azael banter. Very entertaining. Also the flirting with Azael is funny (/p) and just laughing and having bizarre conversations is pretty cool.
Livy: Having to go through the weekly chaos of Hermittpad is the best source of humor I can get. It's also fun to collaborate with the other team members, all of which have a unique writing style!

Writerlight: During the start of quarantine we were looking for new things to watch, and the main MCYT we watched at the time was playing a LoTR mod but he dropped it so we looked for someone else that played it and found Beef. We eventually got to his Hermitcraft vids and started watching those.
Crocs: Summer of 2019 I was hanging out with Saph and they showed me the Grian episode when he made the time machine and got transported back to the start of Minecraft in season 6.
Livy: My brother wouldn't stop blabbing about some Minecraft server called Hermitcraft and on September 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM (yes I remember the date) I finally snapped and looked it up (the first episode I watched was Grian's S7 Ep 40)

Now, I know this recap is getting hella long and you're all probably tired of us (/hj), but we have just a couple more things to say. So hang in there just a little longer!

Along with the Recap account hitting 1k, the Recap book hit 27k views, so thank y'all for that!
We'd like to announce that has returned to the team as a writer for the Writer's Book, so you can expect many amazing updates coming to that book soon! And welcome back Saph, we're glad to have you :D
Sadly, Leah has left the team, but thank you for your work and I'm sure we'll see you around!
To anyone interested in maybe joining our team, we do have applications open! So don't be shy! Apply if you'd like, and perhaps you'll get to join this chaotic bunch with no braincells in hell :D /lh
And one final thing that we're doing to celebrate 1k! We've opened up a doc for a story that Y'ALL are going to write! Curious? Here's how it works:
Basically, you all take turns writing one or two sentences. Over time, these sentences will (hopefully) turn into a comprehensible story! The plot and rules are pretty loose, and you can find them all in the doc below. Don't be shy, all you lovely writers; get writing! Let's see how this goes :]

And... I think that's everything. Wow, this has been a journey—a wild one with it's ups and downs, but amazing all the same! We honestly can't thank you all enough for your support over the years. It's been incredible, and we love you all so much <3
