Hermitober Day 5: Magic
Zedaph was an interesting hermit.
He appeared to be a typical human at first glance. Messy blond hair, sunkissed skin, brown jacket and blue jeans. It wasn't until you saw his eyes that things became a bit unsettling. They were the same color as an enderman's eyes, almost permanently crossed, and tended to glow slightly in the dark.
Of course, none of the other Hermits particularly cared about this. There were plenty of them who were something other than human, who had abilities that were strange in some way. Some of the others were hybrids, a combination of a mob and a human. The Convex were under the domain of the mischievous fae that they took their name from. Xisuma, the closest thing the server had to a proper leader, was a Voidwalker. Heck, one of his closest friends was a Nether demon!
But Zed was just so used to hiding the many abnormalities he had. Not every place was as accepting of magic.
That's what it had to be, magic. What kind, he wasn't sure. Was there a type of magic that involved prophetic visions? An ability to levitate? Telekinesis? Being able to read people like books? Unlikely survival? It didn't match any of the types that had appeared on the server.
Zed knew he had powerful magic in him. But he didn't know why or how. He knew that the Hermits wouldn't judge him for his abilities, and would probably think of them as pretty cool. But it was disconcerting, at the very least, to know next to nothing about who you were.
Or even what you were.
Maybe he was a human who just happened to have magic, like Xisuma. Maybe he made a deal with a magical creature, like Cub and Scar. Zed didn't know. He couldn't remember. And it unsettled him immensely.
The fact that other worlds weren't as accepting of people like him, people who were different, also weighed on him. Sure, this server was friendly, but the ones previously treated him like he had some sort of disease. He was treated similarly to a raven, something that brought bad tidings. He was a pretty friendly guy, but people had thought he was a harbinger of disaster.
Was he? Was he just some sort of bad omen, or a stormcloud on the horizon? Zed wasn't sure. But if he was, he didn't think that he could stay here much longer.
No, better to hide the magic for as long as he could. One day he'd figure out who he was and what it all meant, but for now, the best thing he could do was act like a typical human.

So I've been having wild headcanons about Zed being a witch, specifically a witch like Ellen from YHS, and not knowing it, and trying to hide it because he's scared of how powerful and potentially dangerous he could be. Now it's here. Hope you enjoy.
Sea you later!~
