Chapter Two

HELLO DADS.

The bold words were written on a singular strip of paper, which had printed out of Grumbot. Grian ripped it out of the supercomputer, before handing it over to his boyfriend to give him a chance to read. "What should we respond with?" The builder asked, excited to see their robotic son once again.

"I'm not sure. We don't need any mayoral advice, so we?" Mumbo joked.

"He's our son, not just a mayor advice robot!" Grian said, acting offended as he spoke. "We can't just leave him in a little box all day, we have to at least visit him!"

"Okay, okay." The mustached hermit rolled his eyes. "Ask him if he's okay, or if he needs any redstone updates. I'd be happy to handle that."

Grian took a pen and a sheet of paper, scribbling down the words. "There we go. Let's just hope Grumbot can read my handwriting."

"Even you can't read your own handwriting!"

"Oh, don't be so dramatic! See, that word clearly says...uh—"

"You just wrote it down! How could you forget so quickly?"

"My two brain cells are trying their best!"

His partner laughed, stealing the pen from his hands. "Here, let me." Mumbo said, pulling out a fresh sheet of paper. Grian watched over his shoulder, standing on his toes to try and get a better look at what his boyfriend was writing.

"You can't ask him who his favorite dad is, Mumbo!"

"Are you afraid that he'll say it's me?" The redstoner asked, an arrogant and cocky tone in his voice.

"It's obviously me. I'm the fun dad, while your the dad who says we can't have ice cream for dinner."

"Because you can't." Mumbo said, "It keeps you up all night, and then you poke me until I wake up and ask questions all night long. It's the same reason we don't watch horror movies anymore!"

Grian huffed, crossing his arms. "Now that's just not true."

"Oh really?" His boyfriend raised an eyebrow. "Because I remember you were scared by nearly everything for about a week. Doc and Ren were having quite the time scaring you."

"I don't remember that." Grian lied.

"Suuure." Mumbo chuckled, crumpling the paper into a ball. "I'll just ask how Grumbot is doing."

"Sounds good. That should be enough for our weekly visit, then afterwards we can head back home and watch some movies!"

"Of course, dear." Mumbo smiled, pulling his boyfriend close to place a soft kiss on his forehead. "I'm happy doing whatever you'd like, as long as I'm with you."

Grian smirked like the goblin he is. "Oh, so you'd be happy to dig up sand for a couple hours if I supervise? Perfect! I've been meaning to restock the barge."

"I love you, Gri. But not that much." His partner winked.

Mumbo placed the paper into the dispenser once he finished writing, hitting the first button to activate Grumbot. It sent a shock through his system, just a small one, though it made the redstoner flinch. His vision went dark for a moment as there was a ringing in his ears, before things suddenly snapped back to reality.

"H̶̨̛̺̲̱͚̜̞̦͗̅̀̂̒̂̈́́͝ḙ̴̜̬͈̤͓̌̾̾̑̍̋̌̀̐̀̔̄̚͜ỳ̸̢̡̧̳̻͚͉̜͈̟̠̭ͅ,̸̛̭̦̙̞̖̤͈̭͕̺̞̞̲̹͂̾̃̄̓͛̈́͌́̏̔͛̈ ̸̺̘͖̩̘̈̾̿͒̋̋̀̐̉͠ͅa̸̗̽͛̅ŗ̸̛̬̞̲̘̖͚͍̝̰̲̣̪̒̄́̐̂͆̓͛͆͑̓͘̚͝ͅe̵̢̡̙̠̹̯͎͖̖̮͇͓̲̓̇́̆̉̑̉ ̷̗̜͖̮͒͝y̸̧̧̳̹͎͈̘͚̠͙̼̯̯̎́͒͑̓̅̈́̈́ơ̵͇̫͈̞̾͌̿̌̕͜͝û̷͚͓͍̭̃̔̾͊̂͋̆͜ͅ ̸̱͙͖̯̪̺͛ą̶̠̲͕̞̺̦͈͉̗͓͚͇͋͋̾̊̊̍͛̆̾͂̈́̊̌̂͝l̶̢̰̥̤͚̒̈͑̅̈́͌̈̀ͅͅṟ̵̡̣̫̹̜͔͚̬̼̜̬̅̊̿̽̏̈́̍ͅį̶́͋͐͊͂̓͝g̵̛̛̯̳̭͎̘̝̐͑͑͒̉̈́͊̑̚͠ḩ̴̢̗͖͔̳̲̳̥͔̔͜t̴̨̨͚̖̣̼̞̩͒͊̈ͅ?̵̢̡̡̨̤̮̞͉̩̼̤̰͍͊̂̆̀͗͛͂̀̈́̽̒͘̕̚͠"

He jumped at the deep voice, turning around so fast he nearly fell over. Grian had a look of worry across his face, concern in his eyes. "D-did you just—?" Mumbo tried to stutter, before shaking his head. "Everything it—, I-I don't know, i-it just disappeared for a moment."

"It's alright, dear." The builder cooed, cupping his partner's cheeks to calm him down. "I'll finish pressing the buttons. Just sit down for a moment."

Mumbo nodded, still a bit panicked. He sat on the grassy hill of Grumbot's fake reality, watching as Grian hit the next three buttons. The mustached Brit flinched at the musical chimes of the noteblocks, which were much louder than he expected. Grian noticed his boyfriend recoil at the sound, causing him to raise an eyebrow in concern. "Are you alright? You got pale all of a sudden."

"Yeah." The redstoner muttered while shaking his head, "I just got a headache all of a sudden."

"Should we head back to the hobbit hole?"

The taller male gave a gentle nod. "That would be nice. I'd love to spend some time cuddling."

Grian smiled. "Me too."
