Just Like That

(Lmao I completely forgot i wrote this. I only jokingly shipped them in season 7 cuz they definitely hated each other. This is reuploaded and the only thing changed is that there is gonna be another author's note at the end. Enjoy)

"Fuck, why did I choose to live in half of a house?" Doc muttered to himself as he pulled the blanket closer to him. It was getting colder in Hermitcraft and he doesn't have a suitable home since he hasn't been working lately. He heard the nether portal down stairs as somebody walked through. The creeper hybrid sat up and watched curiously as somebody walked up the stairs and he could immediately tell it was Bdubs. Being his neighbor for a while caused him to recognize the other's footsteps.

"Doc? Are you up here?" Bdubs asked as he made it up, finally spotting him on the pink bed. The hybrid's cheeks started to darken from embarrassment.

"What are you doing here 'dubs?" Doc mumbled as Bdubs just gave him a soft smile.

"I heard that you came back recently so I wanted to see how you are doing." He sat on the bottom of the bed, zipping his jacket slightly. "Man, is it just me or is it cold here?" He asked as Doc let out a grunt of agreement.

"Yeah and these blankets don't do much."

"Or maybe you should get better clothes, having an open labcoat can't be helping at all." Bdubs remarked as he looked around the room. "Why are you sleeping up here? You hate how girly this room looks and usually sleep outside."

"Yeah, but as you said it is cold and this is better than nothing." Bdubs gave him a look of pity as he lst out a sigh.

"Want to come to my place? It is much warmer there." Doc gave him a look that made the builder laugh. "It is better than being cold here, alright?" Doc let out a sigh as he stood up but before they walked downstairs, Bdubs eyes lit up. "Oh! I have a couple of blankets and jackets at my side of the house, you can borrow one until we get there if you would like." Doc nodded his head as Bdubs motioned towards the closet in his house. They walked over and Bdubs looked through all the coats. "So since I am smaller, this is the largest one I can give you, sorry about that." He explained sheepishly as Doc grabbed it off of the hook to put it on.

"No problem, it is better than walking in the cold." The white jacket felt very constricting on the hybrid, usually wearing very loose clothing that doesn't cover his chest. While Bdubs grabbed blankets, Doc noticed that he could see his breath in the dark night. His eyes widened as he looked at Bdubs who looked exhausted. "What are you doing out so late anyways? You wouldn't go out this late for anything." Bdubs looked startled out of his thoughts as a small blush appeared on his face.

"Only doing a nice thing!" Doc raised an eyebrow as Bdubs let out a sigh. "Fine, I haven't been sleeping well lately.

"Any idea why?"

"No, I am doing the same things as I have always done. I have even tried medicine but when I do go to sleep, I wake up not feeling good." Bdubs explained as Doc nodded his head in understanding. "I got all the blankets, let's go to my base then."

-----

"I like what you have done over here." Doc complimented as he looked out the window, enjoying the heat of the small house.

"Thanks! I am working on that mountain over there." Bdubs explained as he poured the hot chocolate into two mugs, bringing them over to Doc who took one gratefully. They both sat in the two chairs silently, watching stars. After awhile, they both finished their drinks, Bdubs grabbing both of the mugs to put in the sink. "I have to make the other bed for you to sleep on, so if you can wait-"

"Bdubs," the builder paused to listen, "go upstairs and go to sleep, you are tired and I can just sleep on the couch. I am just glad you let me stay over." Bdubs hesitantly agreed, walking upstairs after turning the lights off for Doc. The hybrid just let out a sigh as he took his lab coat off, taking the blankets to make a comfortable spot for himself. He looked up at the ceiling, feeling exhaustion hitting him as he dozed off.

-----

Doc woke up to a yell, sitting up as his robotic eye slowly turned itself on. He got up quickly, tripping over object on the floor as he made his way out of the room. After hastily stumbling around, he made his way up the stairs and to Bdubs' room, seeing him heave for breaths in the soft light of the room. The builder's hair was plastered to his forehead, the sweat drenching it and his shirt as he tried to calm down his panic attack.

"Bdubs, are you alright?" He asked as he stepped into the room, Bdubs looking over with his eyes wide.

"Did I wake you! Oh my goodness, I am so stupid, I'm sorry Doc." He apologized as Doc sat down next to him slowly.

"No, no, it's fine. There is no need to be sorry." Bdubs let out a sigh as he brought his knees to his chest, burying his face in them. "Hey, it's okay." Doc quietly conforted as he rubbed Bdubs' back.

"I-I'm sorry..."

"Look at me." Bdubs looked up, eyes were damp as he looked into Doc's worried eyes. "You don't have to hide your crying, just let it out." Bdubs shook his head as he burried his face again, hiding it from Doc.

"Y-you would th-think less of me..." He whispered as Doc wrapped his arm around the builder's shoulders.

"No I wouldn't, everybody cries. They need to cry and let all their feelings out. You don't have to feel like you need to hide yourself just to look brave." Bdubs let out a sniff as he sat up, leaning his head against Doc's shoulder as the tears ran down his face. "Would you like to tell me what's wrong?" Doc asked as the builder shook his head, they just sat there quietly. The hybrid continued to comfort Bdubs as he cried, massaging his back soothingly.

"T-Thank you Doc..." Bdubs whispered as Doc let a little smile appear on his face as he hummed.

"You should grt some sleep." Doc suggested as he sat back, Bdubs looked at his bed.

"I-I need to change the sheets, they are so sweaty now." He muttered as Doc stood up, holding his hand out. Bdubs took it and stood up, the hybrid leading him to a chair.

"I can change it while you take a quick shower. It might help you relax a bit." He walked to the drawer and pulled out a fresh pair of clothes, walking over to a pile of towels and grabbing one. After that, he walked over to Bdubs and handed him the things he picked up. "Where is the sheets?"

"O-oh they are in the closet." Bdubs said as he stood up shakily, walking over to his bathroom and shutting the door. Doc let out a sigh as he opened the closet, choosing a soft sheet and pillow case before closing it again. He walked over to the bed, quietly changing it. The hybrid perked up when he heard soft humming, it came from the bathroom Bdubs was in. It didn't stop even when the shower turned off, Doc finally finished making the bed. Bdubs stopped before he walked out though.

"Thank you for helping me."

"As I have said before, it really is no problem. Are you alright now?" He asked as Bdubs sat on the edge of the bed. The hybrid noticed the small blush on his face.

"I-I have a question." Doc raised his eyebrow as he waved his hand for him to go on. "C-can you stay? I kn-know that is weird to ask for but-" Doc stopped him with a hug, calming the builder down.

"I'll do whatever you need if it means you will feel safe." Bdubs nodded his head as he shuffled over slightly as he layed down. Doc didn't hesitate as he grabbed another blanket from the closet and got in the bed next to Bdubs, laying ontop of the builder's blanket. The lamp at the side of the bed was turned off, letting the two have a peaceful sleep.

-----

Doc woke up groggily, noticing his arms were wrapped around Bdubs protectively. He builder was nestled in his chest, Doc just now realizing he didn't have any sort of clothing on his top half. His face was flushed as he noticed they were both under the same covers, the other blanket was forgotten about on the floor. Bdubs shifted, an upset look on his face as Doc wrapped himself tighter against the builder, letting little hums to sooth his sleeping. He soon relaxed and a smile appeared on his sleeping face. Doc looked at the clock on Bdubs' bedside table, seeing that it was already noon but he could understand why they slept so long after the night they had together.

Doc felt comforted by every breath that Bdubs took, feeling the rise and fall of his chest. The hybrid contemplated the pros and cons of sleeping furthur but he quickly forgot about them as he drifted off again, into the land of sleep.

-----

Doc woke up again, seeing that it was darker outside, looking like it was getting late. He heard the humming and looked down to see it was Bdubs, his eyes were closed as he blended a sweet rhythm together.

"Are you awake?" Doc asked as Bdubs opened his eyes with alarm.

"Oh um, yeah I am." He whispered back as his cheeks flushed again.

"It's pretty late already." Doc mused as Bdubs nodded his head slowly.

"Um... Doc?"

"Yeah?"

"You do realize we are cuddling each other, right?" Doc just smiled at that as he wrapped his arms around Bdubs again.

"Yeah."

"Are you fine with it?"

"As long as you are. Are you?"

"Yeah, I am."

-----

"This tastes great!" Doc complimented as Bdubs blushed for the hundreth time that evening.

"It's just pasta, I don't know what you are talking about." Since it was already so late, they both agreed to have dinner and watch a movie, Doc was going to stay over again since it was still cold outside, or that was just their excuse they would tell the Hermits later.

"Yeah but the sause tastes great." Doc explained as Bdubs nodded his head with a smile.

"I'm glad you like it. What movie do you want to watch by the way?" He asked as Doc shrugged.

"I'm fine as long as it isn't cheesy or weird."

-----

After dinner, they sat on the couch, cuddling each other while watching a Disney movie and eating popcorn.

"The robot!!!" Bdubs cried as Doc just rolled his eyes.

"You already know the ending."

"B-but this robot is different!!!" Bdubs wailed as Doc just rubbed his back. "I don't care about the lady or the boy, the robot is all I care about!"

"You wanted to watch this movie."

"Doesn't mean it's sad!!!" The movie came to an end, the popcorn was all finished and the two felt sleepy.

"We should probably go to bed." Doc let out a yawn as Bdubs sniffled, nodding his head in agreement. Doc went out earlier to get himself some clean clothes so he could stay over again. They both walked upstairs, exhaustion hitting them like trainsas they walked on. "You can go take a shower first if you want." Bdubs nodded his head as he pulled out new clothes and a towel. Doc just sat on the bed softly, his thoughts consuming him.

'Friends sleep in the same beds all the time, right?' He asked himself with a sigh. 'We are just friends, nothing more, nothing less. Nothing has changed since me coming here. I don't love him... or do I?'

"Hey, I'm done now." Bdubs walked out, a towel around his neck as he pointed to the bathroom with his thumb. "You can use whatever in there."

"That was fast." Doc muttered as he stood up and walked into the bathroom, clothes and towel in hand.

-----

Doc walked out of the bathroom, finding Bdubs sitting in his bed with glasses on and reading a book.

"You have glasses?" He let out a laugh as Bdubs sat up with a look of embarrassment.

"Oh uh yeah! They are just for reading." He took them off and put them in his nightstand, putting his book on top.

"No need for being so defensive about it, I think it's cute." Bdubs just covered his face with the blanket as he curled up in it.

"Just get in." His muffled voice said as Doc shrugged as he got into the bed, getting under the covers. The hybrid could smell the strawberry scent that Bdubs had and it relaxed him, causing a soft smile to appear on his face. He wrapped his arms around Bdubs, the builder turned so he could cuddle into the taller's chest. Doc couldn't hold the thoughts running through his mind close enough though.

"Hey, 'dubs?" The smaller looked up, his face had a shadow on it from when Doc blocked the light out.

"Yeah?"

"I... have a question..." He whispered nervously, causing the other to sit up and back away a bit.

"Is this too much? I'm sorry Doc I should have-" Bdubs was silenced when the hybrid sat up as well, wrapping his larger hand around the smaller one.

"Bdubs," the builder looked into his eyes, Doc could see the rising anxiety flow within him, "what do you see me as?" Bdubs' face fell, he pulled his knees close to his thumping heart.

"Well... we are good friends?" Doc raised an eyebrow at that as he leaned his weight into his right hand.

"Are you asking or telling?"

"..... asking...?" Bdubs said unsurly, his voice rising at the end. "What do you view us as?"

"I'm not sure if I am honest 'dubs." Doc truthfully said, sincerity leaked into his voice. "I view you as a friend but I really do enjoy the past nights we have been with each other. It doesn't feel like how I have ever felt when hanging out with Ren or with  Scar." Bdubs uncurled himself slightly, curiosity was shone on his face. "With them it is like I am with brothers, something I will have and cheerish forever." At that, the builder slightly slumped, he tried to hide the frown with a mask. "But, if I'm honest, I feel something completely different with you. Something I haven't felt before. I feel comfortable with you, cuddling you and having fun together. I want to spend every second with you, with Scar and Ren, I get bored easily, we fight and ignore each other. Like brothers but Bdubs..." Doc cupped Bdubs' face slightly in his left hand, rubbing his thumb over the builder's cheek. "I love you."

There was silence.

Just them staring at each other.

Neither were willing to make a sound.

Neither were willing to move.

They sat there for what felt like hours.

Doc softly rubbing Bdubs' cheek.

Bdubs staring into Doc's eyes.

Until the builder moved.

He stood up.

And excused himself from the room.

Just like that.

(DUDE DOC JUST GOT REJECTED I DIDN'T REMEMBER WRITING THIS LIKE WHAT THIS IS BRUTAL ABSOLUTELY SAVAGE OF ME TO DO ANYWAYS, I HOPE YOU FEEL JUST AS SURPRISED AND PAINED AS I DID REREADING THIS)
