Death
(Repost of the original version, nothing changed)
Doc woke up, smiling as he sniffed the fresh air. It was a beautiful morning, sleeping in the open made him feel free.
"Doc!" The creeper hybrid chuckled, knowing it was Bdubs coming to chastise him for whatever the shorter man thought was wrong.
"Yeah Bdubs-" When Doc turned, he saw visions, ones of death. Bdubs was there, he was being mauled by phantoms. He shook his head, finally snapping out of the visions to see his 'rival' standing there with concern.
"Are you alright, it looks like you just saw death himself?" Doc chuckled mentally, that is what he saw.
"I-I'm alright, what did you need?" Doc cursed himself for stuttering but Bdubs seemed to ignore it.
"I just..." Bdubs paused as he thought.
"You don't remember, do you?"
"No! I totally remember! I just don't want to say it now!" Bdubs snapped as Doc chuckled, he didn't know why those visions occured but he hoped that was the last of them.
-----
"Sup my dude!" Ren greeted Doc as he tapped his friend on the shoulder, the taller Hermit turning to face him. He was shocked by more visions, this time Ren was drowning under ice. He could hear the thumps as Ren tried to punch his way out along with the muffled screams. His face was turning blue as he shivered-
"Doc!" The man in question came out of it, noticing that Ren was shaking him.
"I'm alright Ren! Stop shaking me please!" Doc pleaded as the dog hybrid stopped with a sigh of relief.
"You just stopped all the sudden, I asked you a question but you wouldn't answer. Before I knew it you got a glazed over look and started to panic... what is going on?" Ren asked quietly Doc looked down, rubbing his arm.
"I don't know but I don't want to explain it..." Doc said as Ren let out another sigh.
"Fine but if it happens again, tell me and we will find a way to get this sorted."

Grian was cheering, he soared through the air alongside Mumbo, laughing as the two flew through the updated Nether. It was all fun until the two heard a large crack.
Grian started to fall, he was going straight into lava. He was screaming as Mumbo tried to reach for his friend, he was yelling out his name. Grian fell in, coming back up to the surface with cries of anguish. His skin was melting, everything was blurred and all Mumbo could do was watch his friend. It was traumatic, the mustached Hermit landed on a stip of land, quickly building his way towards Grian. The screaming stopped. The only sounds was the echo as it bounced off the walls. Mumbo screamed for Grian but he never-
"Doc!" He found himself on the ground this time, sitting against a wall and shaking. He gulped, feeling as if he drank lava, poor wording on the author's behalf since the situation was serious and shouldn't be joked about.
"W-what happened?" Doc asked with a croak as Grian hugged him softly.
"I came out of the Nether Portal to check on my shop, you saw me and started to freak out. You started having a panic attack." Grian explained as Doc nodded, his hands shaking as he brought them to his face, feeling the tear tracks that ran down them.
"T-thanks..."
"This has happened before... right?" Grian asked as Doc looked at him with an appalled look.
"How d-did you know?" He asked as Grian chuckled sadly.
"I could see it on your face. It's like you knew before I even had to tell you. Have you talked about any of this?" The sweater wearing Hermit asked as Doc rested his head on the wall behind them.
"No... Ren wanted me to talk to him or somebody but I didn't want to..."
"Why not?"
"It's my burden to carry. By the way, please stay safe in the Nether and always check your elytra durability. It would help if you brought regen potions or fire resist." Doc said as he got up and left through the portal, leaving Grian to be confused.
-----
"Hey... Doc?" He just hummed in response, not sitting up or taking the blindfold off. "Are you alright?" He could hear three people, Etho was talking.
"Yeah, I'm alright." He answered slowly as he finally sat up on his bed. He wanted to see their faces but he figured that it was the problem in the first place. He could hear the people shuffling, sitting on the ground in front of him.
"Why are you wearing that blindfold?" He could head Vintage Beef ask along with the little complaints from the other two telling him it was a stupid question.
"I don't want to talk about it..." Doc whispered as the talking stopped.
"We baked a cake." Doc finally figured who was the last person, it was Bdubs. He could hear the worry laced in his voice, after all he is his closest neighbor.
"Ah, so it's the nHo." They all chuckled at that, it was the first time they were all together, reunited after so long. "How about you cut the cake and we can eat it all together?" Doc asked as he heard hums of agreement. He got handed a plate and a fork, eating the vanilla cake with frosting, loving the sweet taste on his tongue.
"It's a shame you can't look at us." Beef voiced before a slap sound was heard and a soft 'ow.' Doc just sighed as he finished the cake, putting the plate down.
"I wish I could see you too."
"It is a migraine thing? Possibly the light is too much?" Etho asked after a minute of silence.
"No, the light doesn't bother me. I can look at everything its just..." Doc paused, sensing the questioning looks he was getting. " I just can't look at anyone."
"That sounds stupid." Bdubs finally said, the other two nHo members agreeing.
"You remember my 'episode' like a week ago or something?" Doc asked as Bdubs hummed, he couldn't nod his head since the other couldn't see it. "I think that is what us causing them."
"You've had more than one?" Bdubs asked as fear was displayed in his voice.
"What are you two even talking about?" Etho asked the two as Beef agreed.
"Doc started freaking out a bit ago when he saw me, it was weird." Bdubs explained as Doc nodded his head.
"Yeah and I have been having them for about a week straight. It only happens whenever I see somebody." He could hear the soft whispers of concern coming from his friends to each other but he couldn't make them out.
"You should talk about it." Bdubs finally said as Doc sighed.
"That's what everyone seems to have been telling me recently..." Doc said as he layed back on the bed, shoving the empty plate aside.
"Because it's true, you are starting to worry us..." Beef softly said as Doc tsked.
"I don't want you to worry."
"Then show us you don't need help." Etho said as Doc sat up, taking the blindfold off but keeping his eyes shut tight.
"I will show you." He opened them and saw a glimpse of his concerned friends as he was pulled away.
Bdubs was being mauled by the phantoms, his skin being ripped as he screamed. He was reaching towards the bed that was a few inches away, trying to push the flying monsters off of himself. They only got angrier, attacking him with all their might. He reached for the bed with a final attempt, only for his hand to fall limply to the ground.
Vintage Beef, he was ontop of a cliff, he was talking to himself, laughing as he pet the sheep. One of them rubbed its face into him, liking the pats and pushed him towards the cliff. He slipped, managing to grap onto the ledge. He tried to keep himself up but the sheep was in the way. Before he knew it, he was falling, screaming as he waved his arms in the air, trying to grab onto anything. His fingers became bruised and bloodied as they caught with the sharp rocks. He landed on the ground with a sharp snap.
The prankster Hermit was barely recognizable, he was wrinkly and had wisdom in his eyes. They held many years and a long past. It was Etho, he was an old man. His smile was still on his face, some people surrounded him as he layed in his bed, they were crying. He looked at the ceiling, saying something incomprehensible before letting out a breath. He died of old age-
"He's up!" Etho shouted as Bdubs and Beef came over, water in hand. Doc found himself embraced in Etho's arms, the three looked like they cried. Doc got handed a water bottle, opening it up and letting it go down his parched throat.
"Why did you do that?" Bdubs chastised as Doc grunted, leaning his weight against Etho.
"Let's leave him alone right now, he is probably tired." Beef quietly said as they all sat on the ground, Doc finding he was ended up there even though he was on the bed before. "You really have to tell somebody what is going on though, you can't keep whatever this was to yourself."
"Yeah, you were having a panic attack and just fell to the ground. You can't hold this to yourself." Doc didn't respond, he was too emotionally drained to deal with them.
"C-can I just sleep?" Doc asked as the three looked at each other.
"Fine but we will come back in the morning, until then you are wearing your blindfold."
-----
Even after his friend's frequent visits, Doc just lays in his bed silently, thinking and digging himself into a hole of depression. He couldn't bare to take the blindfold off, the visions appear even after he already saw them.
"Doc, Doc!" The creeper hybrid just sighed, but hummed anyways. "You saves my life!" He sat up at that, hearing that it was Grian.
"How?"
"I was flying through the Nether with Mumbo earlier when my elytra broke. I started to fall towards the lava but since my fire resistance was right there, I drank it quickly and managed to survive!" Grian explained as Doc stopped. He took the blindfold off slowly.
Grian was sitting in a chair, looking at flowers. A crown of them was on his head as he watched children run around in them, laughing and screaming. There was a muffled conversation, all Doc could see was a hand reach out to Grian, the blond picked it up and kissed it, letting out a sigh. He closed his eyes and slumped in his chair. His chest stopped rising-
"You look happy." Grian mused as Doc looked at his friend, his rosy cheeks were puffed up but the hybrid couldn't help but laugh at his burnt clothing and strands of hair.
"I am happy, thank you."
-----
Doc stopped wearing the blindfold, only doing so after he talked to every Hermit. He saw their futures, giving them a solution to stop their deaths happening in the first place. Once those were finished, he found that looking at the people who died of old age only happened once, he could look at them normally. He could talk to Etho and Grian without being brought to their deaths, he figured that he was meant to do this.
After he finished talking to the other Hermits, he just lay in his bed, with the blindfold on again. He didn't want to see the gruesome deaths over and over again and this was his solution. Nobody knew, they just thought he was looking out for them.
-----
"Doc!"
"Yeah?" He asked as he could hear Scar crying.
"There was an accident..." the hybrid sat up, this hadn't happened before. Most of the other Hermits came by to thank him for giving him tips.
"What happened?" Doc asked as he took the blindfold off, he already saved Scar from being lost in a cave without food or a way out. His solution was to keep a trail and bring enough tools along with food.
"C-Cub was flying in his pyramid when he hit straight into a wall..." Scar whispered as Doc mentally cursed himself. He told Cub to wear full armor, make sure he was healed, and to never fly in his pyramid but apparently he didn't listen. "...... he didn't die..." Doc looked up at that, wanting to practically strangle Scar for scaring him.
"Is he alright?" Doc asked as Scar sighed.
"Yeah, he seems to be, but he said that if it wasn't for you, he would have died. If he was injured or wore anything less he would have surely died. Did you know he would have died like that?" Scar asked as Doc looked down at the blindfold messing with it in his hands. He tried to ignore the question. "You seem to know how everyone dies... don't you?" Doc finally nodded his head slowly, bowing it slightly.
"I see everyone's deaths and I guess I have the job of making sure they live until they are old."
"That's why you had a panic attack when you saw me."
"Yeah, you were going to die starved in that cave. You now are going to live until you are old, a cat in your lap and as you pet it, you die peacefully." Doc explained softly as Scar nodded his head processing everything. "I need to check on Cub, see if I need to fix anything." Doc whispered as Scar nodded his head, knowing that the creeper hybrid was asking for him to lead him there with his blindfold on.
-----
Doc pulled his blindfold off, for a split second he saw that Cub was laying on the bed, injured badly.
Cub was surrounded by Doc and Scar, both were crying as he slipped away. His injuries were killing him. He let out a pained breath before he stopped moving. He could hear the muffled panic screams of Scar and himself, they were shaking Cub, trying desperately to keep him awake.
Doc shook his head and quickly shoved some shulker boxes on the ground, grabbing out regen potions, covering Cub's wounds in them along with allowing the injured man to drink it. Doc was scared he was too late, but before he knew it, Cub was looking ten times better, breathing normally as he looked at Doc.
"T-thank you..." Cub whispered as Scar turned to Doc, engulfing him in a big hug.
"You saved him! Again!" Scar chuckled as Doc let out a sigh of relief and hugged back.
"It's no problem, I just want to help."
-----
Before Doc knew it, most of the server escaped their early demises, the only one left was Mumbo Jumbo. The vision for his death was tripping and falling off his megabase stupidly, Doc asked Scar to hang around that area in case he saw the spoon falling.
One day, Doc felt the urge to walk past Mumbo's base, he just felt compelled. He saw Mumbo, the vision didn't appear in his mind for some reason, up on the structure, he was talking to a chicken. Doc noticed Grian land on the structure behind him, sneaking up on the mustached man. He knew he had to do something before Mumbo got scared and walked off the building. He strapped on his wings, soaring through the air and landing on the structure.
"Mumbo, put your elytra on!" Doc yelled as Grian jumped out, scaring Mumbo but he luckily listened quick enough so he glided safely to the ground. Doc got a close look at Mumbo, seeing the visions of him dying. He got distracted by them, Grian was trying to calm him down, keeping him up on the structure. He rolled off the side, not before the vision changed.
-----
Mumbo was sitting in a chair, looking at flowers. A crown of them was on his head as he watched children run around in them, laughing and screaming. The conversation was clear now, Doc could hear every word.
"If Doc hadn't saved me from falling off that building, we wouldn't be here right now. We would be here with our beautiful grandchildren." Mumbo chuckled, a tear rolling down his cheek. Grian sat next to him, taking his hand and pressing a kiss to his knuckles. "Doc saved both of us, he saved us, its a shame he died so early..." Mumbo mused as Grian sighed. They both sat back in their chairs, letting out their breaths. They dies together, holding hands.
-----
"Doc was an amazing man. I finally will see him again after so many years." Etho smiled as he looked up at the ceiling, directly at Doc. His family was crying as he flatlined, he let go.
-----
"Well, it's been a great life, what do you say Grape?" Scar asked as he pet the purring kitty. She was related to Jellie, who died many, many years ago. Grape nuzzled against Scar as his shaky hands massaged her. "Doc told me this would happen, if only he got to see it in person." The cat meowed as he chuckled, resting his head in his pillows. His hat rested beside him on the bed, a letter under it. "Doc should have lived longer, he saves us all Grape, he saved us from ourselves. I wish we could have done the same." Scar whispered as the cat replied with a soft meow. Scar closed his eyes, his hand went limp against Grape. She got up and poked at her owner, prodding her soft paws against him. He didn't move as she let out soft cries in the forms of meows.
-----
"Doc!" He opened his eyes, everything was in slow motion, Grian was screaming out his name, his fingers were inches from grabbing his hand.
"Doc." He looked to the side, seeing purple figures floating above.
"W-who are you?" He asked as they chuckled.
"The Watchers. We want to offer you life. We can either help Grian get to you quickly, or let you crash, the death Mumbo was supposed to have."
"W-what's the catch?" He asked shakily as they laughed harder.
"The catch? They all die their original deaths and you live how ever many years you gave them. In total, that is over 1,500 years." The Watcher explained as Doc let out a shuddering breath.
"Why would I ever want to do that, I saved them."
"To become like us, deities who live for thousands of years. You could join us, get wonderful powers, you love power." Doc paused, he was power hungry, it was his major flaw. He looked at Grian's tear stained face above him and came up with a decision.
"I rather die than see their deaths again." The Watchers nodded their heads, they snapped and everything was full speed.
"Doc!" Grian screamed as his hand slipped through his fingers, Doc falling through the trees, hitting branches and anything in the way. He landed to the jungle floor, his bones snapping and cracking all at once, killing him immediately with a painful crunch.
(Idk its not sad, I wanted to make it sad)
