Whether feathered or scaled,

Whether winged or tailed,

Remember this story of allyships derailed.

Decades ago, a war was waged.

Wizards and mages wanted uncaged.

But their valiant cause the witches betrayed,

And in dead of night, a trap was laid.

Come morning light, the ambush was sprung,

Leading to deaths of men, women, and young.

Here today, witches still hide,

Fearful of consequence for their lies.

The humans fear us, they cast us away.

Assuming we'd die and slowly decay.

But live we did, as did we flee

Far to this clearing among the trees.

Now we are trapped, wary of all,

Trying to cease our barriers' fall.

But remember, children, as the broken clock does chime:

Every good rhyme starts with 'Once Upon a Time'.
