Healing
Pain radiated through his body and Scar let out a choked scream. He quickly placed a torch to keep mobs from spawning nearby and pushed himself up against the cave wall, looking down at his wound.
The man had worked up the bravery to go caving, and all had gone well until he was ambushed by mobs. He was able to kill them all, but thanks to a bout of klutziness Scar had fumbled his sword and gave himself a nasty slice.
He felt his eyes start to water but he did his best to push the tears down, searching through his inventory in a panic.
The cut wasn't extremely deep but it was long, and the pain was dizzying. The blood steadily trickling out of it wasn't very reassuring, either.
He had no potions and he had no wool to bandage it up, either. His vision getting blurry from surfacing tears, he tried to tear fabric from his coat to staunch the bleeding, but he couldn't rip it.
Scar sat back for a moment, whimpering at the pain coursing through him, stemming from the cruel cut across his abdomen. The bleeding didn't slow, and that sparked the man to sit up and try again.
He frantically looked around for his dropped sword. Spotting it, he started to crawl towards it. The movement hurt, but once it got within reach he quickly grabbed it. With shaking hands, he cut some fabric out of his coat. That done, he pressed it onto the wound.
He let out another hoarse cry, squeezing his eyes shut. It hurt, but he needed the bleeding to slow down if he wanted to get out of here alive.
If he died, it would take ages to find where he died at to pick up his things again, if he even could find them. He had been down in the caves for so long he didn't know how to get back.
Scar felt his blood seeping through onto his hands. Opening his eyes, he gasped at the pool of blood growing around him.
He needed to eat! If he could find food, he could eat and heal up.
He kept one hand clamped around the injury as his other fumbled through his inventory. He found and grabbed a golden carrot, quickly sinking his teeth into it.
It was difficult to eat as he softly sobbed, and the wound kept bleeding.
He felt dizzy, looking at all of that blood. How was he still alive? Why wasn't he healing?
The fabric was already soaked and it barely slowed the bleeding.
He reached for another carrot, but his trembling hand dropped it.
He fumbled with his coat, bunching up the fabric and pressing it tightly against the cut. He grit his teeth, letting out a long, pained whimper.
Scar's lungs burned and dots began to swirl in his eyes, and he realized he was hyperventilating. He fought to steady his breathing, shakily peeling back the fabric to check the wound.
The bleeding had slowed, but it was still coming.
He wasn't healing.
He was going to die.

Deception
"Oh come ON!"
Tango stared angrily at the number of cards in his hand as he added another four. He had the most cards out of the three of them, and none of them were good ammunition.
Impulse laughed, but his smile was slightly apologetic. He was down to three cards after dropping that +4, while Zedaph had seven. Tango didn't even want to count the cards in his hand. He was clearly dead last.
"Zed, we need to do something!" Tango exclaimed, anxiety clear in his tone.
"Yeah, I know! Impulse, what color did you say?"
"Yellow," The brunette responded, already looking triumphant.
Tango shuffled through his mess of a hand. He didn't have anything that could help stop the man from winning again, except...He fought back a smile. He had just drawn a +4.
Zedaph put down a card with a sigh. "We need a strategy. Whatcha got, Tangy?"
"I don't really have anything," He lied, glancing through his hand again. "I might be able to do something? Do you have a reverse?"
"No, I don't."
Tango huffed before realizing it was his turn again. He looked through his plentiful hand, trying to find the number in a different color. He didn't want to use the +4 on Zedaph; that would just make the situation worse.
"Come on, Tango! All those cards and you don't have anything?"
"Umm! Can we change the color?"
Impulse's smile fell for a split second.
"He has two yellows!" Zedaph yelled, pointing at the man accusingly. "We need to change it!"
"Ok, ok! Do you have a 0, or a 5, or..." Tango ruffled through his cards again, looking through his yellows. "A 2?"
"I have a 2 that's not yellow!"
"Boom! Change it!" Tango shouted, nearly slamming the yellow 2 onto the pile.
"Aha!" Zed exclaimed, dramatically pulling a green 2 out of his hand and setting it on top of the pile. "Impy doesn't have a green, does he?"
Impulse hummed. "No, no I don't."
"Yes!" Tango yelled, pumping a fist.
"But."
"Wait- Wha- 'But'?"
Impulse's smile returned, a devious glint in his eyes. "I do have this... Uno."
He set down another +4.
The two blondes stared at the card for a moment before Tango let out another groan.
"I'd like it to stay yellow," Impulse said, a hint of haughtiness in his tone.
Tango drew yet another 4 cards. "I need it to be reversed!"
"I don't have a reverse!" Zed reminded, already visibly giving up hope.
"Damn it!"
Zedaph sighed and set down a regular yellow card, setting the rest of his hand down. "He won again."
"You said you wanted it reversed, Tango?" Impulse asked jokingly, setting down his final card; a yellow reverse.
Tango plopped his mess of a hand down. "You're cheating!"
Impulse faked a look of offense. "How does someone cheat at Uno?!"
"You got extra +4's stashed somewhere or somethin'! There's no way you drew two +4's like that!"
"Wait, Tango," Zedaph interrupted, looking at the man's abandoned hand. "You had a +4?"
"Why else would I want the turns to be reversed?!"
"You said you didn't have anything!"
He opened his mouth to retort before letting out a sigh. "I did."
Impulse laughed, collecting up all of the cards and shuffling the deck. "So, we playing another round?"
"No, please," Tango weakly plead, "I don't think I can stand losing a sixth round."
"Sounds like you're being a sore loser," The brunette teased.
"Easy for you to say, Mr. Four Win Streak," Zedaph retorted.
"Hey, at least you won one, Zed!"
"Alright, alright!" Impulse interrupted. "No more Uno, got it."
"No more Uno," The other two agreed.
