The fire licked at his arms, daring him to move any closer to the portal. It felt like a distant memory when he thought about ever feeling safe here, the red waste-land was hot, full of lava and the mobs would kill anyone who tried to escape.

A ghast sounded from the distance, he knew he had little time. He grabbed the satchel at his feet and flew. There was a different portal not too far from where he was, he just had to find it before anything nether-born found him.

He was the exception, he got taken in by the piglins when he was young. The two that mainly raised him told legends of a different dimension where there isn't much danger and where water is more common than lava. They said that all he had to do to get there is go through one of the purple portals.

He had to get to the portals.

His eyes glowed like a fire had lit behind them as he saw the portal. There was nothing around him for miles but if he had even a second of hesitation, they'd find him and either kill or capture him.

He braced himself, tied a strip of cloth over his eyes and walked through.

What happened on the other side surprised him to say the least. Two people, laughing and running around. They stopped when they saw him, looking scared and disturbed at the ruin of a portal he came out of.

"Who the hell are you?" The blond one of the two asked.

"Why should I tell you? I don't know you and I was just chased out of my dimension. Why the hell should I go around giving my name to strangers?" The nether-raised snapped, defensive yet feeling defenceless.

"We- how did you get here anyway? The portal has been closed off for years, nothing's been through since.." the brunet said, trailing off at the end.

"I'm sorry? I just said I was chased out. I lived there for all my life but as far as I'm aware, I was born in the overworld." The red-eyed male looked to the purple-eyed blond "if you want to know my name so badly, tell me yours first."

"I'm Zedaph."

"I'm impulse, keep your side of the bargain then?"

"Yeah yeah. I'm... TangoTek. Call me tango though."
