I Didn't Know (Bdoc)
*slaps* "BDOC!"
"Wha--"
*yeets device at you, then runs off, screaming and laughing hysterically*
So yeah! Bdoc time! I am a DISGRACE for not putting any Bdoc in here sooner, but I am ready to atone for my sins with a short Bdoc fluff pile!
There is some self-doubt/hatred? in this, so watch out.
This is kinda like hurt/confort, sorta.
Setting is the Hermitcraft server (haha, who has a setting NOW?)
WC: ~850
Enjoy!
Bdubs sat at the top of his half of the mansion. The sun was high, the sky was bright, and everything seemed perfect. A perfect day to do whatever one likes. And for Bdubs, what he wanted to do wasn't what one would expect. The hermits probably expected him to be building. Maybe doing something at the shopping district. Instead, Bdubs was investing in an old hobby of his.
Art.
He had a simple sketchpad and pencil with him. Nothing special, but enough to work. Bdubs had started drawing a while ago, and his sketch was starting to resemble what he was aiming for.
Or rather, who.
Bdubs had been aware of his feelings for his neighbor for a while now, but was too afraid to confess. What if he doesn't like me back? What if this ruins our friendship? Small doubts like that took their toll on Bdubs' confidence, causing him to decide to just keep his emotions secret.
What's the worst that could happen?
Sure, the feeling grew stronger with each passing day.
Sure, it felt like there was a desperate beast thrashing under bars in his chest.
But... it's not like Doc would ever like him back.
Why would he?
Doc was essentially perfect, he deserved someone just as good as him.
That person was not Bdubs.
That person was Ren, or maybe Grian, or...
Don't think about it, don't think about it, Bdubs thought, pressing his pencil into the paper. Don't be jealous. Jealousy is stupid and not worth it just be happy for him just be happy-
Bdubs, being lost in his frantic thoughts, didn't notice the whooshing of wings behind him. He didn't notice the sound of someone landing. He didn't notice that he was being watched.
Bdubs stared at his paper. It was indeed Doc in the drawing. It was pretty good, though Bdubs needed to add a bit more-
"Is that... me?" The sound of a voice behind him both froze Bdubs's body and thoughts.
No.
No.
No.
"I..." Bdubs mumbled, lost for words.
He saw me.
"That's amazing," Doc breathed, sitting down next to Bdubs. "I didn't know you were an artist."
"I, uh," Bdubs stuttered, his face flushing. "I- I wouldn't, erm, say that."
"You don't give yourself enough credit," Doc scoffed. "Can I see?"
Is he...
Flirting with me?
Bdubs dismissed the thought immediately, refusing to believe it. Realizing Doc was waiting for an answer, he handed the German his sketchpad.
"Wow, Bdubs," Doc gushed. "How the goat do you do this?"
"Why are you making a big deal out of this?" Bdubs muttered, watching as the smile on Doc's face grew.
"Sorry, I'm just surprised," Doc said with a laugh, handing Bdubs back the sketchpad. "Why did you draw me?"
Call the fire department. Bdubs thought sarcastically. This hot man is setting my face on fire.
"I dunno," Bdubs said uncomfortably, even though he knew exactly why he drew Doc.
"Is... is something wrong?" Doc asked, putting an arm around Bdubs. "You, uh, seem kinda down."
Gosh darn fire department isn't doing their job.
"No, it's just..." Bdubs mumbled, his stupid, fluttery heart pounding in his chest.
"Was it me?" Doc guessed. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just thought it was cool."
"No, it's not you!" Bdubs said in a rush. "I just..."
"You just what?" Doc's gentle voice was killing Bdubs's heart. "Is there something you need to tell me. You can say it. We're friends, after all."
We're friends.
The word sent a knife through Bdubs's heart.
Just friends, and that's all he wants.
Just friends, and that's all you'll get.
Just friends, and that's all you deserve.
He doesn't want you.
You don't deserve him.
He doesn't like you the way you like him.
He never will.
Why should he?
He's better than you'll ever be.
He's better than you.
Everyone is better than you.
You deserve no one.
He will never love you.
"Bdubs, why are you crying?" Doc's voice snapped Bdubs's out of his trance. The taller male had wrapped his arms around Bdubs, who melted into the hug.
"I don't deserve your sympathy." The words were out before Bdubs could stop them.
"I... what?" Doc sounded genuinely shocked. "Bdubs, get out of here with that bullcrap."
"What?"
"Of course you deserve my sympathy!" Doc said, squeezing Bdubs harder. "Bdubs, you're smart and funny and kind and talented and light up a room just by being in it. You're amazing, and I don't want to hear you talk bad about yourself, alright? You deserve whatever I can give you and more."
"I love you." Bdubs wanted to smack himself the minute he said it.
Leave it to me to ruin this.
Doc pulled back from the hug, locking eye contact with Bdubs.
"You... love me?"
Bdubs's already flushed face lit up even more, which was enough of an answer for Doc. The hybrid smiled and cupped Bdubs's cheek with his robotic hand. Before Bdubs could even process what was going on, Doc leaned down and kissed him.
Bdubs melted into the kiss, in shock but willing to make the most of the moment. His heart beat like a drum, pounding louder each passing second. When the two broke away, Bdubs's hand went up to his lips in shock, not touching them but hovering over.
"I... you like me back?" Bdubs asked after a second. Doc's grin was wider than an ocean.
"Always have."
That was actually so fun I can't stop smiling helP-
I'm sure I messed up the personalities again.
It's almost 11 pm I have school tomorrow I'mma RUN now
