He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He took a step forward and opened his eyes. And there it was. The crazy Boatem community at the sacrificing again. It wasn't what he was there for, but it was certainly fun to watch. He sighed again and looked around. Not here huh?- Where is he then...?

He sighed and walked forward, his sword hanging by his side. His helmet weighed heavy on his head and the armour weighed him down, just like his mental health was doing. He looked up, leaning against Grian's base. He sighed and rescanned the area. Still no sight of the person he needed to find. What if he isn't here? What if he's in danger? What if he's dead? He should have respawned... right? There would have been a death message in chat. Where are you.. My friend..?

"Wels! Come over!" he heard the familiar British, child-like voice call out. He giggled slightly as he walked over.

"What can I do for ya? Or do you just want me to fall down the hole as a sacrifice?" He giggled, trying not to sound like he was faking anything.

"You seemed upset. Is everything alright?" Mumbo questioned, clearly concerned.

"Yeah everything's fine! Just me thinking 'bout projects I need to work on."

"So. Why are ya here?" Grian asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.

"Just looking for someone, that's all. I've looked everywhere for him but I can't find him."

"Who? If you don't mind sharing of course." Scar inquired, wanting to make sure he can comfort the knight that has saved everyone multiple times.

Wels sighed before turning his back to the group. "Impulse. I'm looking for Impulse."

"But he told me he was going to find you about an hour ago?" Pearl mentioned.

"Oh god no."

"Wels?"

He ran off, diving through the Boatem nether portal. He dashed down the nether corridor, making his way towards the pigling farm he knew Impulse had set up. He looked up. Nobody. Anxiety filled Wels' mind and he started climbing the scaffolding, due to leaving his elytra back at his base. He started shaking as he climbed. His breath started to become short and sharp. His pulse started to race. His hands sweat and slid down the edges on the scaffolding. The climb felt endless. He cursed under his breath as he fell down a bit, clutching onto the scaffolding a bit further down.

"I don't want to do this... But... it's for the best... right?"

He was so near the top. He had almost made it. He was so close. Save his closest ally, the one he calls a friend. He couldn't let him leave now. He felt himself stand on the afk platform. Impulse was there. He watched him take a foot off the edge. Wels ran forward. He took Impulse's hand. He held him so he wouldn't fall. He wasn't losing someone else.

"Wels?... Why.. Why did you save me?..." Impulse mumbled.

"Because, Impulse, you mean so much to me. The world and more. You're the only person I call a friend. I call everyone else allies. But you.. You are the one true friend." The knight responded as he pulled the other male up so he didn't fall. "Impulse. Listen. No matter what you are worth it. You are perfect the way you are. You don't need the blade. You don't need their hate. You need to be yourself."

"And I need you Welsie."

"I need you too Impy... I need you too..."

"Have you heard of platonic relationships?"

"Yeah. Of course I have Impy."

"Would you-"

"Yes Impy. I know what you're gunna ask. Yes."

"You're the best Welsie."

"You wanna let it out?"

Wels looked down at his shaking friend who nodded to what he said. He took his helmet and chestplate off, revealing a black t-shirt with a bright yellow 'i' placed on the front. He heard a little squeal from the brunette cuddling him. He giggled slightly as the redstoner on his lap adjusted himself.

"Welsie?"

"Mhm? What's up?"

"Do we have to tell anyone about this?"

"Not if you don't want to. I'll only do what makes you comfortable and safe."

"Do you wanna go work on the Yes Wings Club? It's what we were supposed to be doing right now..."

"If you wanna do it, then we can go do it. If you wanna stay here and recover we can. If you wanna go to one of our bases and relax we can."

"Can we go to your base? It's more isolated than mine and everything."

"Yeah, I think Grian and that lot will want to see you though. I kind of just ran off to come get you with no warning because I realized what you were up to."

"You know you're the only one that knows about my true mental state right? I mean I could tell Xisuma and stuff but I don't want to worry them and everything. You're the one person I trust that won't tell anyone about anything I say unless I tell you that you can and I'm so grateful for that."

"Glad I can be of service to ya Impy. I just want to know everyone's ok and I want to be able to help, since of what happened last season and everything. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you last season and I won't forgive myself for that."

"It's not your fault you were caught up with other stuff. You're here nowand that's all that matters."

Wels felt a smile crawl across his face. "You wanna head to my base now?"

"Yeah."

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz. Wels looked down at his communicator, seeing a ton of messages flowing in.

<Grian> Has anyone seen Wels or Impulse?

<Tango> Nope. Sorry Gri.

<Stress> Me neither, love. Sorry 'bout that.

<Etho> Me and Iskall saw Wels like two hours ago but not that recently. Sorry Grian.

<Xisuma> No, sorry Grian.

<Wels> I mean I have-

<Grian> JESUS WELS WE WERE WORRIED AS F-

Wels felt himself sit on the edge of the mountain, watching the sun slowly set. A head silently came to rest on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around Impulse before looking over at his nether portal.

"Hey Welsie?"

"Mhm?"

"You alright?"

"Yeah. Just worried about something."

"What? If you don't mind me asking, that is."

"I'm worried if Hels will target you because we're so close and all."

"It'll be fine Welsie, I can protect myself and I have you to protect me too!"

Wels let out a small giggle as he looked down at his platonic partner.

"You're amazing Impy. I'm so glad to have you as my platonic partner."

"Same with you Welsie. Thanks by the way..."

"What for?"

"Saving me earlier. I was doubting it and when I did let go... I regretted it. I'm so scudding glad you came and saved me."

"It's nothing Impy. I just need you and wanted to make sure you're safe."

"Love ya Welsie. Platonically of course.-"

"Love ya too Impy."

"I feel like we don't needa clarify that our 'I love you' is platonic with me being aroace and all-"

"Yeah but for the first times around the other hermits we probably should- because you know- them not used to this-"

"Yeah true- Also, I so wanna go roast everyone tomorrow. But I also want to just wanna watch Netflix and cuddle. I also don't wanna leave your side."

"You don't have to leave my side. I'll be with you until the day I die. That's a promise."

"Same with you Welsie. I won't leave you."

He watched his platonic partner beside him yawn and cuddle into him, clearly wanting attention and to sleep. He giggled lightly under his breath and picked Impulse up, carrying him towards his base. He placed Impulse in his bed and sat beside it, waiting incase any chaos would happen, bringing the two apart.

He took the heavy helmet off his head as the sleepy male ruffle his hair. He giggled slightly. Under the rest of his armour, he was wearing the t-shirt he had stolen from Impulse, cargo shorts and grey trainers. He sat on the bed next to Impulse, as the sleepy hermit started giggling.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing. Just the way you wear what I wear under your armour is immaculate."

"I mean you're not wrong-"

Buzz. Buzz. Buzz.

"I SWEAR IF IT'S TANGO AND ZEDAPH I WILL LITERALLY MURDER THEM!-"

"It's fine Impy, you can just ignore them."

<Tango> Is anyone awake?
<Impulse> Probably everyone except Bdubs.
<Iskall> Yeah probably.
<Bdubs> HEY! That's mean!! D:
<Wels> Oh wow he's not asleep! Shocker! 😱🤩 Nobody cares Bdubs.

"I'm going to protect you until the day I die. I'm going to be with you until the day I die. I want you to be with me until the day I die."

"And I will be with you 'til the day you die."

Wels grabbed the sleepy hermit and pulled him into a hug. The two giggle as they lie down and tell stories to each other, waiting for someone to fall asleep. Soon, Impulse had fallen asleep while cuddling into his closest friend. Wels giggled breathlessly and ruffled the sleepy hermit's hair. He looked at the mirror and there he saw it.

The knight and the only person he'll ever call a friend.
