Ren seemed like the guy everyone wanted to be. He was witty, attractive, funny, and always knew what to say.
Despite this, Ren still didn't have a partner.
Ren sighed, sitting underneath a tree in the Shopping District, watching the other Hermits mingle with each other.
His eyes landed on Iskall. Oh, Iskall. The Swede who stole his heart.
Their laugh was contagious and they was gorgeous without trying.
Ren watched as Iskall laugh. Then his eyes trailed over to the person standing next to Iskall.
Stress.
It wasn't like Ren disliked Stress. Quite the contrary, actually. She was a really sweet person and a good friend of his.
But Stress stole Iskall away from Ren.
He watched as Stress spoke to Iskall, making them laugh.
Ren's chest tightened. He wanted to make Iskall laugh.
How cruel could the universe be to make Ren fall for someone who could never love him back?
And, even further, to have that someone love another?
And to have them be so goddamn hot?
Ren shook his head.
Stop being selfish.
Ren equipped his elytra, putting one arm into the strap after another.
He took out a rocket, exploding it underground him.
The hot air of the rocket pushed the wings of the elytra, launching Ren into the air as he glided to his base.
He sat on his bed, sighing. Ren removed his sunglasses as he ran his fingers through his long brown hair.
Something...itched at the back of his throat.
Ren coughed, and three green flower petals flew out of his mouth.
Ren blinked. That's weird. He didn't eat any flowers.
Unless-
No.
It couldn't be.
...hanahaki?
Ren pressed his hands to his head. Think, Ren. Who could it be?
The only person in the entire server who likes green flowers is...Iskall.
"I can't." Ren mumbled to himself. "I can't do this. I'd rather die."
———————————————
Weeks passed by, and Ren had basically accepted his fate.
He didn't have the strength to confess to his love, not if Iskall seemed to have a thing for Stress.
Ren also did not appeal to the idea of giving up his emotions, so that was out of the question.
He simply laid in bed, occasionally throwing up flowers.
Ren suddenly felt a searing pain, and he gasped, doubling over. He clutched his stomach before vomiting.
Green flower heads flew from his mouth, blood painting the petals. Ren's throat ached, and he sat there in the ground in defeat, panting heavily.
Oh, god, it was getting worse. Way worse.
"Ren? You in there?"
Oh, no. False was here. She was here to exchange logs, a more personal order that couldn't be purchased in his shop.
Ren managed to speak. "Y-yeah, Falsie!"
He heard her footsteps draw nearer.
"Are you okay? You sick or something?"
Her voice was at the door now.
Ren coughed out, "I'm fine! I-I just-...don't come in! I-"
"Ren, if you're telling me not to come in but you're fine, then that means somethings definitely wrong."
Ren tried to protest, but when he opened his mouth, more flowers came pouring out, scratching at his throat, blood spilling everywhere.
False kicked down the door in alarm. She stopped and gasped at the sight of Ren doubled over on the ground, vomit and bloody flowers everywhere.
False yelped, "Ren?! What the heck, dude?! Why didn't you tell me?!"
She helped him on his feet and onto the bed.
She asked, a little gentler, "Who is it?"
"I-I don't-" Ren choked out, before more regurgitated flowers came out.
It spilled onto the floor, and False examined the flowers.
She muttered to herself, "Green roses...who likes green..."
False stopped and looked back at Ren.
"I'm going to get Iskall."
Ren jumped up and grabbed False by the wrist. "No!" he cried.
"Ren, you're going to die!"
"...but...if he rejects me, then I'll die!" Ren squeaked out.
False stopped where she stood. She looked back at Ren who had desperate, pleading eyes.
"Ren...is that what you're afraid of?" False asked softly. "Rejection? Ren, listen, I know it's scary, but sometimes...you have to take risks."
Ren didn't want to risk it. He didn't want to do anything.
Ren could barely speak before more flowers burst from his mouth.
He stumbled to the ground, his head spinning, practically splitting in two.
Ren winced, coughing out, "Ahh...not good..." His words slurred together.
False gasped, "Ren! Oh my god, you idiot!"
Time seemed to stop, and Ren blacked out.
———————————————
Ren heard a voice, a voice he desperately wanted to hear.
"Ren...Ren, oh my god, please...wake up! Please, get up, Ren!"
Their voice sounded hoarse, as if they'd been crying.
Ren shuddered, jolting upright.
Iskall was crumbled on his lap, crying.
Ren felt his throat ache, flowers blooming from his body, blood soaking the petals.
Iskall looked up at Ren in disbelief, their eyes wide and full of tears.
Before Ren could say a word, Iskall tackled him in a hug.
Iskall pressed his lips against Ren's, their fingers grasping on Ren's hair.
They pulled apart, breathing heavily.
"Oh my god, don't scare me like that ever again, you absolute fool!" Iskall spoke, their voice wavering.
Ren managed to choke out, "B-but...what happened?!"
"You were unconscious, and so False got me." Iskall explained, not releasing their grip on Ren. "I thought you were dead."
Iskall looked at Ren with a sad expression, it hurt Ren's heart.
Iskall whispered, "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I-I...I thought you were with Stress!" Ren squeaked.
Iskall shook their head. "Stress is with False!" Iskall said. "Ren, I've always loved you!"
Ren's heart stopped. He hesitantly put his hands around Iskall's neck, kissing them again.
Ren wanted that moment to last forever, but he was pulled back to reality when a voice made itself presence.
"I see no thanks given to me!"
Ren looked up, and saw False standing at the door, a grin on her face.
Ren's face burned, and he flushed, "I- Falsie!"
He threw a pillow at her, and False left, laughing and shaking her head.
Ren looked back at Iskall, who kissed him once more.
Perhaps some things are worth taking a risk for.
Yes I know the ending it rushed and the pacing is terrible 0-0
I'm not very familiar with writing Renskall, so idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Okay bye now!
