Xisuma was the star of the school. Actually, no, that's an understatement.

He was the star of the neighborhood.

It was a small town, so small that you would know almost everyone who lived there.

And that's why Xisuma came out on top.

He had straight honey brown hair, straight A's, and was a genuine person. He participated in extra-curricular activities and was head of the student council.

Xisuma didn't go to those late night parties, like his delinquent brother, Ex, who was pretty much the exact opposite of Xisuma.

Even when Xisuma's friends practically dragged him to parties, he didn't ever drink, rather sat in a corner, jamming out to his own playlist with earbuds.

Of course, Xisuma's life wasn't as simple as it seemed on the outside.

He and his brother were adopted at a very young age by a wealthy couple, who spoiled the twins.

Because of this, Xisuma felt pressured to do well. So much pressure was put on his shoulders, to be mature, to be successful, to be everything everyone strives to be.

Xisuma probably would have continued his life like that, if not for that boy who walked by his locker with Xisuma's friends.

He had wide, excited brown eyes and a blue T-shirt. A beautiful smile was across his face, radiantly shining through the hallway.

His hair was soft brunette and he had pale skin. Xisuma felt his face fluster as this boy walked over to him, Xisuma's friends, Bdubs and Doc following behind.

"Xisuma, this is Keralis!" Bdubs grinned. "We met him in second period."

"Hello, Shashwammy!" Keralis beamed, holding out a hand.

Xisuma shook it, blushing, "Erm- my name is Xisuma."

"He has a thing with nicknames," Doc pointed out.

Keralis nodded in agreement. "Yup! And you are Shashwammy!"

Butterflies filled Xisuma's stomach. This was...a strange feeling. New. He never felt this way around anyone, not even girls.

Xisuma never even had a crush in his life, now that he thought about it.

Wait. A crush? Is that what this was? No. It can't be. Not on a guy.

The bell rang, and Keralis walked away to his next class.

Xisuma felt frozen in place. He couldn't move. He was going to be late the class, for the first time in-...goodness, he didn't even know how long it's been.

Xisuma shakily ran to the bathroom. He locked the door, sighing as he ruffled his hair.

Tears pricked at the back of his eyes. Xisuma didn't understand what was happening. And he did not like that feeling.

He wanted to feel in control of his life, able to be in charge of every single aspect in his life.

And this boy...Keralis...he stole that control away from Xisuma.

No. It's nothing. Keralis is just attractive. That's it.

Straight hair, straight A's, straight forward, straight guy...

Little Miss Perfect. That's who Xisuma is.

It's been a few months, and Xisuma grew very close with Keralis, despite himself.

Xisuma would walk home with Keralis, though he was pretty sure the wide eyed boy would walk home with him whether he invited him or not.

"Shashwammy!" Xisuma turned around, and Keralis ran straight into him, knocking him down onto the ground and into a small pile of snow on the ground.

Xisuma laughed, "Keralis!"

Keralis stuck his head out of the snow, the flakes covering his hair. "Are you okay, Shashwammy?"

"Am I okay? You fell face first into snow!" Xisuma smiled, staring at Keralis' face.

It was...kind of perfect. The snowflakes covered his brown hair, the small, cold, flakes dancing in his eyelashes.

Keralis smiled back. "I'm okay! Don't worry!"

Xisuma felt his cheeks warm, despite the cold weather.

Keralis stood up, offering a hand. Xisuma took it, standing up next to Keralis.

"Do you want to sleep over to my house tomorrow?" Keralis asked, a smile still on his face.

"R-really?" Xisuma stammered. Keralis nodded. "Y-yes! I'd love that!"

They stood there for a moment, letting the January breeze blow past their faces.

That's when Xisuma realized he was still holding onto Keralis' hand. When he tried to pull it away, he noticed Keralis' grip tighten, as if he didn't want to let go.

Still, with Xisuma's heart pounding, he dropped Keralis' hand. "Erm, let's walk home." Xisuma said hastily. "I have piano lessons soon."

"You always have things to do." Keralis giggled.

His giggle was so adorable. Xisuma's face flushed as they walked side by side.

He had a strong urge to take Keralis' hand again, but Xisuma fought the urge.

You have to stay in line, he reminded himself. Stay as Little Miss Perfect.

The next day came quicker than Xisuma expected.

Xisuma didn't know what to think, but he was at Keralis' home, ringing the doorbell before he could.

Someone opened the door and Xisuma was tackled in a hug from Keralis. "Hello, Shashwammy! How you doing, sweet face?"

He hugs everyone, he has nicknames for everyone, he calls his friends sweet face all the time...Xisuma told himself over and over again. It didn't stop his stomach from flipping inside out.

The two of them ordered a pizza and it was honestly a fun night. Xisuma didn't spend time with his friends much outside of school, being so busy with things, so this felt...special.

Something about Keralis, though. It...drew Xisuma in. IN A PLATONIC WAY. Yeah. It was totally platonic.

Keralis' laughs were something Xisuma's heart could not handle. They were so enticing, so mesmerizing...

Stop, stop, stop! Xisuma hissed to himself. You are just friends with him. You are straight, you are ordinary. Star of the town.

The hours seemed to go by so fast. It was like Xisuma could never have enough time to be with Keralis.

They sat in Keralis' room, talking about life, when Keralis asked a question completely out of the blue.

"Can I braid your hair?"

"Wh-what?!" Xisuma sputtered, certain he must look absolutely flustered.

Keralis beamed, "You have pretty hair."

"...okay..." Xisuma awkwardly scooted himself closer to Keralis.

He felt Keralis' finger gently tug at his hair, braiding the side of it. It felt...nice.

Xisuma let out a soft sigh of pleasure, unconsciously leaning on Keralis' legs. He closed his eyes, his body relaxing for once.

Keralis was done with the second braid, when Xisuma turned around, facing him. He felt control slip out of his hands, the way it always does when he's around Keralis.

This time was different.

"Shashwammy, I'm not done yet-mphf!"

Xisuma suddenly leaned in and kissed Keralis. He instantly regretted his decision.

Keralis complied to the kiss, bringing a hand to touch Xisuma's cheek, but Xisuma's mind was screaming at him.

No, you can't risk falling off your throne!

Love is something you

don't

even

know!

YOU CAN'T RISK

FALLING

OFF

YOUR THRONE!

LOVE!

...you don't even know...

Xisuma yanked his head away from Keralis, his cheeks rising with color.

Xisuma clasped a hand over his mouth, tears flooding his vision.

Keralis' eyes were wide, but not in the way that they normally were. They were wide with fear, concern, even.

"Shashwammy..." He tried putting a hand in Xisuma's shoulder.

Xisuma shrugged Keralis' hand off, looking away from him.

"I-I'm sorry...so sorry, Keralis...I-I didn't mean to-..." Xisuma whispered hoarsely through tears. "J-just forget...everything."

Xisuma stumbled off the bed and over to the door.

Keralis whimpered, reaching a hand out to Xisuma, "Wait, Shashwammy, I-"

Xisuma ran out the door, tears blinding his eyes. He bolted all the way home, slamming his door when he got into his bedroom.

Xisuma clutched his pillow, sobbing into it. He wants it to go away. He was to rewind the night, take it all back.

There's nothing there. Just believe it.

It's never worth it, when your Little Miss Perfect.
