Jealously devours (pt. 3)
X immediately panicked, along with the only two untouched hermits Stress a Jevin. Though Jevin seemed a little less worried.
"I've lost him? How could have I lost him?" X had admin screens up, frantically typing a message to the Primes about suspicious activity and what's happened.
"All we gotta do is find him. They can't have gone far! You can track his communicator, can't you?"
"I can't," X started, sounding optimistic despite his words, "but the Primes can!" He started typing out another message as Stress started speaking.
"Maybe we need some extra support? Superheroes would be great."
"So no one else is concerned about the unconscious server mates?" Came Doc's voice from a few blocks away. Stress and Xisuma jumped, Jevin just stared.
"Not particularly," Jevin said as he walked over to help Doc up. Upon standing he had a sword pointed at him.
"Are you...you?" Stress had the tip of her sword pointed under Doc's chin. The distrust shaking her voice.
"I believe so. I'm not hearing Emerald's voice in my head anymore," he slowly moved the sword away from his throat.
Stress drop her blade to her side, a confused frown on her face. "Emerald? Is that the Watcher that had you?"
"Yeah. He was...interesting. Being possessed is so violating! He picked one of my weaknesses, not that I have any, and broke me down from there."
"Oh that's awful! do you remember any of the recent events?" Stress sheathed her sword, worry shining in her eyes.
"I, I saw the whole thing. I fought Emery tooth and nail, I truly tried to stop the events from happening."
"Emery is Emerald, right?" Jevin asked, Doc nodding in confirmation.
"They all have names. But the names Gem gave them are what they go by."
Iskall was next to sit up, shooting to his feet with an axe in hand, "Hallo? Oh," he put his Axe away with an apologetic look. "I'm sorry."
"Oh love," Stress walked over and planted a quick kiss on his cheek. "It's alright. You couldn't stop it."
"I could have! Jade, she promised me nothing would happen if I befriended her. Then she went on about how amazing all of my friends were and how she had friends that would like them and I thought she was good now I feel so bad I'm sorry!" Iskall blurted out the explanation/apology in one breath, grabbing hold of Stress and hugging her.
"You were the first to encounter a watcher?" Xisuma questioned, pushing his panels away for a moment.
"No, Mumbo was. He told me about a new friend he'd meet a while back. I didn't think to question it, I thought it was an online friend. He kept talking about Pearl, or Pearlecentmoon. I should have asked questions..."
"Nono, you're fine! I just can't believe I didn't catch the foren players in the server."
"They don't count as players," came a very southern voice. Joe was still lying in the sand, hands behind his head. "They're not even entities. I'm not sure what they are, but it's impossible to detect them. This plan has been in the works for months though. I know I met Opal back in November, but didn't know what she was planning until today."
"Opal, Jade, Emerald, Pearl. I'm starting to see a running theme with the creatures under Gem's command," Jevin pointed out.
"I have an idea on how to start getting Grian back. I heard someone mention superheroes?" Doc completely ignored Jevins comment. "I know of two on the server."
"We have superheroes on the server?" Cleo's voice questioned from somewhere behind the group.
"Poultry man and Duck woman."
"Duck woman was around for less than a week! I don't think she knows how to be a superhero!" Stress exclaimed. A few more hermits sat up with a jump at Stress' yelling.
Mumbo looked incredibly guilty though, "my mind is...clear. Pearl is gone, but..."
"Mumbo, we're already working on getting him back," X assured the suited man.
"But, I let it happen. I had every chance to see that something wasn't right, and I didn't stop her."
"They were targeting weaknesses. I don't think you could have done anything," X had pulled his screens back up after getting a reply from a Prime. "Looks like something similar happened about two years ago with a player named Taurtis. But he was never returned or found. Happened on a server named Evolution. The admin also disappeared soon after that, but their name has been classified."
"Wait," Bdubs looked slightly confused, "Topaz said his name was Taurtis."
"That's why he was never found!" X had a sudden realization. The Watchers had told them that they had done something to Grian's server, Grian had said everyone died. He was taken by the Watchers, they killed his server, and they ran because of it!
"X, you look like you've figured out gravity only works sometimes. Confused but understanding," Joe chimed from his spot in the sand.
Cleo walked over to the man, looking at him strangely, "what are you on about? Gravity doesn't decide when it's going to work."
"Yes it does, but that's besides the point. X's brain is whirring and I wanna know what about."
"Sir. You are very strange."
"It's the Evo server admin. I think I know who it is, and why it's classified."
"Spill the tea!" Some one shouted. Sounded like Etho or Ren.
"I think it's Grian," A few gasps and a few confused why's came from the group, but X continued. "From what I'm seeing here, the server was hastily disbanded after an accident, although there are no reports of the members being seen after that. Grian's already spent time with the Watchers, he's the admin that disappeared. While he was gone, the Watchers killed the server mates, and Grian wasn't happy about it so he ran."
"I wouldn't be happy about it either," Jevin commented.
"That, actually makes sense. But now that we have this information, do you think it can help us get Grian back?" False had a determined look on her face as she thought about returning Grian to the server. She had known Gem for only a few weeks, and felt betrayed. She wanted payback.
"I know where their base is! Topaz told me he didn't like the Watchers either and gave me a bit of info we might be able to use!" Bdubs exclaimed, catching the attention of everyone.
"And ye' haven't told us?!" Cleo shouted. False placed a hand on the women's shoulder as a warning to calm herself.
"I, um, anyways he said that Watchers aren't too bad when they want to be. Their headquarters is located in the same end city the admin hq is-"
"That explains the purple accents and pail skin," Iskall interrupted.
"Yes but he also said he used to be a close friend of Grian, and that the one we know is nothing like the one he knew."
"That's...interesting."
"We're gonna need backup if we want to go get him. Stress, can you and a group go get Duck woman; Doc, can you and a group go get Poultry?" Both nodded, though Stress a little more hesitantly. "Right, a few of you go with Stress, a few of you go with Doc. The rest of you I want preparing anything you think would be helpful." The girls nodded and headed off in the direction of Stress' ice castle. Doc, Scar, Bdubs and X took off in the direction of G-man's base.
The three men landed in the bottom tier of the futuristic wedding cake blender. Looking around for any sort of entrance.
"Does anyone know where he keeps his alts?" Bdubs questioned, tossing a trident in the air and catching it while wandering.
"No, but if you keep doing that," on cue Bdubs dropped his trident with a clatter. It somehow managed to wedge itself in between two blocks. This somehow triggered something and a 1x1 hole opened up on the floor. "Well, I was going to say of you keep doing that your going to drop it on your toes, but this is helpful."
"I guess your clumsiness comes in handy, Bdubs," Doc elbowed him in a friendly way as he walked past to look at the hole. "Does your trident have loyalty?"
"No, I nabbed it from a drowned on the way here."
"I'm guessing this was used as a split second door into the poultry cave using a loyalty trident. But it's staying open since the trident isn't enchanted"
Bdubs jumped down the hole. Causing a panicked Doc to rush over to the hole, "Bdubs what the heck! How did you know it was safe?"
"I looked," This was a lie. Bdubs never looked before he lept, it was good enough for the admin because he jumped down too.
"Seems fine to me Doc. C'mon down!" The turtle man called from a 2x2 water puddle. Doc tentatively jumping down into the water.
Bdubs was already off exploring the egg themed cave, X looking around, but not walking far, Doc following Bdubs to make sure he didn't cause trouble.
Two figures stood in the shadow, one in a bright white suit, the other in a worn red sweater and torn back Jean's. Both had the slighted red glow to their eyes, meaning the shadow wouldn't hide them for long.
Bit of a filler chapter because I'm stalling. But thank you to MayaTheWatcher for the idea on how to get the child back. I'm thinking about turning this into a book...would anyone want to read something like this?
Have a good day/ night and know you are loved! <3
