The Bungaloo

Don't go out in the woods at night, or the Bungaloo's gonna get to you.

Stress slowly stepped forward in the dead night. Despite her gentle tiptoeing, the delicate leaves still crunched under feet, echoing a beacon for monsters of all kinds to come- But it wasn't the weird tree branches or ominous shadows that she was scared of. Not the bats nor the lethal spiders, but something much, much worse.

Don't go out in the woods at night, or the Bungaloo is gonna see you.

It was a monster nobody had lived to tell the tale of- Some rumors told it as a pure shadow itself, making it so its attack would be unseen as it snatched you whole- Some said it had glowing red or green or yellow eyes with spiny claws and long fur. It was told to walk on two legs or all fours with either gnarly teeth or a mouth so wide it took you whole. Or maybe, just maybe, it was a myth. A myth meant to scare children yet a myth even the adults feared.

Don't go out in the woods at night, for you won't see the Bungaloo.

There was no proof of this haunting monster, but the tale had lived longer than the old wives. The chatter and rumors had changed throughout the years, but there was always one thing that kept the same- Nobody would be able to tell the truth of it.

Don't go out in the woods at night, for the Bungaloo's already gotten to you.

She looked around tentatively, horrors already playing through her mind. All she had to do was make it to Xisuma's base and everything would be ok. Unfortunately, Stress had stayed out too late, and not realizing the time, fallen asleep. And now, Xisuma's base was the closest bet, despite the distance and the time, Stress knew he'd be up.

Don't go out in the woods at night, for the Bungaloo will be the end of you.

A loud snapping rang out, causing Stress to freeze in her tracks as she stifled a fearful scream. She looked around quickly, checking for any sign of anything, before realizing it was just a stick.

Don't go out in the woods at night, and don't be seen by the Bungaloo.

A loud, sighing breath of relief slipped out as she kept still for a little longer before slowly drawing to a snail-paced walk again. Adrenaline was running high as she reman timid and flinching at everything. Just a little longer, just a little longer.

Don't go out in the woods at night, but be careful of the Bungaloo.

She was barely a few steps away before her lungs began to hurt. And her throat. A slight dizzy feeling overwhelmed her as she froze again, this time an internal matter..

Don't go out in the woods at night, for you won't tell me of the Bungaloo.

Stress went dead still as she realized; Her breath still hadn't been let out. The sigh hadn't been hers.

Don't go out in the woods at night, for you won't see the Bungaloo.

Gulping, she looked around, eyes wide. She didn't see anything currently..

Don't go out in the woods at night, for the Bungaloo's already gotten to you.

Another one of those breathy sighs flew by, this time much closer and churning out a half-scream from Stress. Despite the urge, the need, to run, her legs stood still and frozen, knees buckling into each other. The wind seemed to blow one final breeze as the non-existent animal sounds seemed to emphasize their silence. Then, shadows and figures started moving and rustling all around her- It was the path in front of her that was being cleared.

But you went out in the woods and night, and you've just seen the Bungaloo.

Stress threw out a strangled, horrific scream as the monstrous beast came out from Hades. Its whole figure was lurid and twisted. A mix of demented and horrifying with a bone-chilling sensation running off it, causing anything to drop down in fear. She screamed as loud as she possibly could, turned around, and ran off in the opposite direction only for the beast to slip down into the depths and pop up again in her path. This time, she couldn't let out a scream as it already had her in its clutches as it took her away.

Stress saw something in the woods at night, and I can tell you that it saw her too.
