Insanity: Doing/Repeating the same action over and over again.
----
Zed hated change.
The moment everything seems at least a tiny bit ok, it all had to change and become disrupted again. Nothing could ever be reliable and nothing could ever earn any of Zed's trust. The last time Zed gave out trust it became broken.
By change.
Change changes everything. How was he supposed to find happiness when every time it got close, the road turned and ducked and switched and stopped. How was maintaining sanity supposed to happen when it kept fighting off the newest thing.
Nothing can last forever, but it could at least try to last a second.
Too much change had already gone on with Zed anyways. Life has already twisted around too many times. And it was life's fault that every imperfection, difference, and oddity drove him into a state of paranoia and lunacy. Beep! Beep! Beep!
His alarm went off, one and a half-second intervals between each of then three beeps, signaling the time for his internal monologue on change being bad for be over. His monologue always started at 5:45 am and ended at 6:03 am.
The alarm went off every day at 6:03 am as it took him two minutes exactly to get dressed in one of the many identical outfits and get downstairs for his breakfast, which was the exact same as every other day.
And now, that his alarm had gone off, the monologue ended as Zed got up, starting the day off just like every other day had been, and just like every day to come would be.
