A Heroic Act [semi-angst]

Kinda like die hard? Dunno, wrote it while watching that movie, so probably. (My mind can be influenced surprisingly easy-) Anyways, it's more Xisuma/Ex! Because why not? Does anyone have any persons or two they want written in? Honestly just say so and I'd do it. I have enough angst- Uh, ideas to go around the field once or twice!

He looked out the window of the small room, keeping his voice low.

Quiet.

There was only about 10 police cars and a S.W.A.T. team. "That's all you got?!" He spoke through the comm, ignoring the dripping blood, "I told you what kinda people these are. That won't be enough."

"Look just sit tight, ok?" The officer said. "Stay wherever you are, and stay safe. Let us do our jobs." Then, he added, "What should I call you?"

Ex.

"There are about twenty or so people they have hostage." And with that, he clicked off the comm, checking the gun he picked off the most recent victim.

It still had some bullets. He winced, trying to hope that his brother was still alive. He wasn't sure the numbers now, because what started as a meeting between the business members of Hermitcraft in a fancy hotel became much, much more lethal.

These people came, and only a few of them got away.

Iskall..

Himself..

Keralis- Oh, poor Keralis. He knew Keralis wouldn't be able to survive on his own..

He thought a moment while applying pressure to his shoulder.

Doc.. Doc would be ok.. right?

The rest were taken. So it was him, Doc, and Iskall.

He winced again, shutting his eyes at the fear. He knew some of the hermits were smart, but he heard gunshots earlier..

Just don't take my brother..

He pressed himself into the corner, looking downwards.

Seventh floor. He knew everyone was being kept on the tenth, most likely in the private meeting room, the one far right. It was furthest from the stairs and only had one window. It was a reasonable size, albeit tinted. Nobody could see in, but you could see it. The others were undoubtedly probably tied up. He clicked on the comm again.

The person picked up. The beginning of a sentence came out, but that couldn't wait. He cut him off.

"Tenth floor, right-wing. Furthest room. Get ready whatever it is that people fall on."

"What? No! Just wait, stay safe, we'll get you out of-"

"Get it ready." He clicked off again as he made his way out. Four people fell between the seventh and ninth floor. One of them was already a body.

He didn't look at that one.

He took the vents for the tenth floor, waiting until he was outside the room.

Two more people fell before he came out.

He breathed in, pressing an ear to the door, listening closely for the sole reason he was there.

"-I'm scared, Xisuma.."

"Shh, shh, it'll be ok Grian-"

A gunshot fired, causing Ex to wince. He held his breath, waiting. An unrecognizable voice spoke.

"It'll be you next time." He heard scuffling as the voice spoke louder. "Take that example of your blonde headed friend!"

Xisuma was ok.

He peeked under the door, counting twelve feet that didn't belong to the others.

Six men.

He counted the rest of the feet. Twenty-six. Only 13 were alive.. That meant.. He shook his head, not wanting to do the math, but instead focused on biting his lip, contemplating one thing- How to get his brother out.

He clicked on the comm and backed a bit down the hallway. "Do you have it ready?"

"Yes, but-"

"There's going to be glass. Lots. Will it be ok?"

"Yes, it has its layers. Please, just stay sa-"

"Sorry, no can do."

"Sir-!"

"Listen to me. Carefully. Things are about to happen." He used a low and sharp tone, the same one he used that always got his way.

Distant murmurs could be heard, before, "You're calling the game now. Talk to me."

"Games about to end. My brother, the helmeted one. He will make it out, but I won't. And I'm ok with that trade. I need you to tell him something."

There was a pause and he continued. "Tell him I love him, and that he's an idiot. And tell him that I wanted this. Capish?"

"Ok-"

He clicked off and walked forward, throwing open the door and instantly firing at everyone he didn't want here.

Bullets fired at him, and he switched to the window, grunting with every shrapnel of thin pain. He barely caught his brother's gaze before yelling; "Jump!"

The window shattered as Xisuma yelled back. "Not without-"

"Go!" Ex stumbled forward, using the last of what he had to shove his brother closer to safety. Time slowed as more men fell, him alongside them. Screams and sirens could be heard as people jumped out the window, drowsy yelling accompanying.

The weapon fell from his hands, life slipping away. His eyes fell downwards, preventing him from knowing the one thing he wanted to know- Had Xisuma made it? He didn't know, and he wouldn't ever find out, as everything went black.

Sirens shut up, the wind froze, and the yells muted. The bullets that had been flying towards him and everyone else ceased as time slowed, amplifying as his body officially fell still.

Seven people survived that night.
