A Creature Of Night

Sorry about the mistakes. I've kinda been slowly adding to this towards the later times in night because 10pm is adrenaline hour.

Grian tossed and turned in his bed. He wasn't- Hadn't- Been able to sleep lately. There was always an issue. Always. But today, it was the light. The moon was a full, bright, white, casting a magical glow, lighting up the skies and bringing out the stars. But his room and everything else, it was all pitch black, so now his room was lit up. Brightly.

He sighed and dragged himself out of bed, swinging one foot over, then the next so he was siting up. He regretfully shivered as he dropped his fuzzy blanket. He looked down at himself- A onesie, sweatshirt and a blanket. He was still cold.

That's why summer was his better season. It was all sunny! And everything seemed to be growing and healthy. But that wasn't what he liked most. Grian loved the summer nights. He only spent every single one of them on his roof. The warm breeze tickling your skin, and the fiery sunsets that blacked out the trees. And how the clouds stretched and the color of the sky illuminated them to a light, fuzzy pink.

But tonight was winter, meaning the sky was dark, the moon was full, and there was snow everywhere. Yet, he opened the window and crawled out onto it.

Letting out a cold and visible breath, he smiled, always having felt at ease out here. Despite the dark skies, the stars and moon always seemed to be lighting the way for him. Everything was so calm and quiet. The crickets just turned into a faded, background noise and the owls cooing had become like a song.

Bringing his knees to him chest, he carefully balanced out his weight on the steep ledge. But it was worth it. It was all so worth it.

He smiled and sat there a moment zoning out, only to come back into focus due to two things;

One, being the fact that there was the loud echo of panting and someone running on the street.

Two, being the fact that his back was hurting- Bad.

Three -a new realization,- it was happening again.

He yelped as midnight black wings sprouted from his back, obscure, tiny, white spots splattered across the wingtips, some faintly covering part of the primary and secondary feathers. He yelped again as the stifled and rigid bone structure of the wings spread, taking him up into the air at a slow pace. And by the time he was fully up, he was panting. It'd been awhile since he'd done that. It just felt way too cold in his opinion.

But wow, he realized his mistake as he smiled and laughed with joy as he felt the cool wind whip his hair and the light condensation tickle his skin as he broke-cloud. He had missed this. Looking dow, the street lights were nothing more than speckled dots, barely visible in the distance put between. It was amazing.

He breathlessly smiled at the site, the feeling.

He smiled even wider as he noticed his wings seeming to fade in with the black sky, the splattered white dots standing out, glowing almost, like the thousands of other stars in the sky.

After staying in his place for awhile, he let out a breath as he truly relaxed. Nobody could get him here. He was out of reach if everything. Leaning back and letting his wings do the work he lightly chuckled.

In a way, he kinda was a creature of night.
