Catchy Song
Groovy, and psychedelic rock music blasted from the speakers of the hippie commune. Lots of lanterns were lit and the stage was crowded with hermits all singing along to the upbeat rock being played by the hippies on stage. As the night grew long and the evening dark, the music began to slow and hush down until only three hermits remained sitting around a small but welcoming campfire.
"What a night!" Impulse sighed as he leaned back on one of many large logs placed around the fire. "I don't think I've ever listened to so much awesome music before."
Grian smiled as he tossed a few more pieces of firewood on the flames. "I hope we can throw more music festivals in the future!"
"As long as we don't get shut down by Area 77," Ren stated, picking up his guitar, "We can throw as many as we like."
Ren began strumming out a gentle tune, relaxing into his seat as his fellow hippies listened to his music. They watched as the stars grew bright with life and color, almost dancing above them when Impulse stood up and stretched.
"Well dudes, i'm going to hit the hay," He yawned as he gathered the few belongings he had lying around the fire, " maybe in the morning we can check out dates and times for the next festival?"
"Maybe we can do one at Area 77!" Grian smirked, "For no reason in particular..."
Ren smiled and watched as Grian sipped his tea, "Sure there's no reason G, sure."
"See you guys in the morning!" Impulse said as he began walking towards his van.
"Night Impulse!" Grian waved.
"Nighty night man" Ren smiled as he strummed his guitar once more. A few minutes passed in silence except for the sounds of rushing water and chirping crickets. Once Ren was sure Impulse was asleep, he stood and sat down next to the calm and quiet Grian and spoke.
"So how did you like the festival?" he asked, strumming few random notes and chords.
Grian smiled and leaned his head on Rens shoulder. "It was lovely," he smiled as he stared into the slowly fading fire. "I've never been to a music festival before, I had a lot of fun."
Ren pushed up his glasses, " I'm glad you had a good time G, I'm just glad I can finally get to bed, all that singing and dancing really wore me out."
Grian sighed and placed down his cup. He stretched his arms over his head and sat in a cross legged position. "I guess so."
Ren raised a brow at the now seemingly upset blonde and sat up straight, placing his guitar on his side. "Whats up?" he asked gently.
Grian sighed once more and smiled, a sad smile before leaning back on the log behind them. "I just wish I could hear more music, like that one slow one at the end of the night. I know it was just some silly love song but..." Grian looked up at the stars and raised a hand up to the sky, "I wish I had a song like that."
Ren watched as Grian tucked his hair behind his ear, his face illuminated by the moon and the fire light. His gentle features glowing in the night as a flower petal drifted down from his hair to the ground. He looked over to Ren and his face changed from solemn to a smile. "Whats up with the face?" he giggled as Ren realized his own solemn expression was probably not as attractive.
"Oh! Um, sorry." he mumbled as he slapped his hands up to his cheeks.
Grian smiled and lifted his hands to uncover Rens face once more, "Don't worry about it, it's cute."
Ren blushed and adjusted his glasses, turning away from the giggly blonde to see his guitar laying besides him. He smiled and lifted it onto his lap, turning back to face Grian and winked. Grian felt his cheeks flush as Ren began strumming a gentle tune.
"Ladies and gentlemen, coming to you live from the hippie commune, its your main man Ren preforming the very last song of night." Ren looked up at Grian and smirked, "dedicated to a very special Hermit." Grian blushed as he watched Ren play. Ren looked down to his Guitar and after a few more chords, began to sing.
"We're far apart, in every way, but you're the best part of my day. As sure as I breathe the air, I know we are the perfect pair. On a prickly path that goes on for miles, but its worth it just to see you smile. And I cannot be pulled apart, from the hold you have on my heart and even if the world tells us it's wrong, you're in my head like a catchy song..."
Grian looked stunned as his blush grew wild and fierce. He watched as Ren tenderly plucked out several notes. His face was soft and kind, illuminated by the moon as he looked up towards the blushing Hermit.
"Do you like it?" Ren asked, strumming a few chords.
Grian smiled and threw his arms around the brunettes neck, nearly toppling them over. "I love it!" He exclaimed happily, "it's so beautiful."
Ren laughed and continued playing as Grian sat back on his knees. "Well it's not over yet"
"Seasons change, and leaves may fall, but I'll be with you through them all. And rain or shine, you'll always be mine. On a prickly path that goes on for miles, you're the only one who makes it all worth while. And you should not blame me too, if I can't help falling in love with you..."
Grian gasped at the words, holding a hand up to his mouth as he watched Ren freeze. Rens cheeks flushed and he looked up slowly towards his fellow hippie before raising a hand to rub the back of his neck.
"Do..." Grian paused and looked towards the fire, "do you really feel that way?"
Ren stayed silent for a moment before he gulped nervously and set his guitar down next to him. "Well... yea I guess I do..." he took a deep breath and moved so he was kneeling in front of the blonde, looking down at his hands, "No I don't guess, I know. I know how I feel about you. You're smart and kind and you can be so mischievous when you want to be. You're always looking out for your fellow hermits and always ready to have fun!"
Ren looked up at Grian and was hit with a wave of relief when he saw his face. Grian was smiling ear to ear, his cheeks red and a few peaceful tears streamed down his face. Ren lifted a hand to wipe away his friends tears and left a hand on Grians cheek. Grian leaned into it and looked up to meet his eyes.
"I know how I feel about you because you make me feel like the luckiest hermit alive just by being able to hear your voice and see your smile." Ren smiled and leaned slightly closer, "and I guess I just can't help it..."
Ren and Grian sat there for a few moments, hushed, serene, and silent before Ren looked down and spoke once more. "Grian, can I-"
He was cut off by the feeling of gentle lips pressing against his own. They were soft, and the kiss was sweet, and as he shut his eyes he felt as if a hundred lifetimes had led him to this very moment. The kiss grew from dainty to deep, and after what seemed like both a century and a second they pulled apart. Both drawing in deep breaths and staring into each others eyes.
"W-wow... that's was..." Ren began to mumble, a bit embarrassed as he smiled.
Grian laughed and held a hand up to Rens cheek and said "I love you, too."
