Close Call (Keralis x Bdubs)

"Keralis, be careful!" Bdubs shouted at his friend, warning him about his reckless flying.

"C'mon Bubbles, you need to loosen up a bit," Keralis smiled, swiftly maneuvering around the tall builds in the area, his laughter ringing around the area.

"Just be careful, I don't want you to get hurt."

Bdubs watched his friend from the ground, too scared to fly. The first time he attempted using the wings, he had a very close call with death and he never used them again. Though, he did always keep a pair on at all times just in case he did need to use them or if he decided to give them a try.

"Try it out, B, it's really fun!" Keralis invited as he flew over the other hermit.

"I think I'm good, thanks," Bdoubleo backed away slightly.

"Suit yourself," Keralis shrugged as he resumed with his flight.

The hermit shook his head and walked inside of their village, trying to concentrate without worryingly looking up at his friend, who was flying inside of the iron golem skeleton.

Bubbles was in one of their new shops, organizing the items. "BUBBLES!" He quickly ran out of the shop to see Keralis falling from the sky, a pair of broken wings on his back.

Bdubs took a few steps back to get a good running start to take off. He quickly flew towards Keralis, who was just seconds away from hitting the ground.

"I'VE GOT YOU!" he yelled as his extended arms safely caught his friend.

"Bubbles?" Keralis asked in a whisper, looking up at his friend. He was shaking slightly, but it was too subtle for Bdubs to notice.

"Yeah?" Bdubs looked down at his friend to see him wide-eyed (A/N: more than normal, at least), with tears making their way down his face. "No, no, no, don't cry," he wiped his friend's tears away, having tears threaten to escape from his own eyes. "Look, you're safe, okay? Everything is fine, I caught you in time and we're both here," he hiccuped as his tears escaped.

The two made their way down and Bdoubleo softly let Keralis onto the ground, careful to not hurt him. Keralis' tears came back out again, "I'm s-sorry," he stammered. "I-I," he couldn't finish the sentence, but Bdubs just hugged his friend, rubbing his back in soothing circles.

The warm embrace and its soothing feeling was starting to calm the hermit. His sobs stopped, but he still clung onto his friend.

Bdubs pulled back from the embrace and walked towards one of the buildings. He sat down, his back against it, and patted the ground next to him.

Keralis slowly made his way over and sat down, head leaning against his friend's shoulder. After a few minutes of uncomfortable shifting, Keralis decided to lay down with his head on Bdubs' lap.

"Is this fine?" he asked softly.

"Y-Yeah," he stuttered, blushing at Keralis' actions. He began to play with his hair and smiled when he felt Keralis relax under him.

"Bubbles, can I tell you something?" Keralis opened his eyes, looking up with a serious expression. His warm brown eyes locked on the others' face.

"Of course," Bdubs felt scared for what his friend might say, as he was usually a very cheery person.

"I love you," he looked away, blushing. It was something that had been bothering him for a while now, and finally getting to say it was exhilarating. His smile, though, quickly faded as he realized that he didn't get any response. Keralis quickly shot up and started an apology. "I'm so sorry-"

Bdubs grabbed his hand and squeezed it, grabbing the attention of Keralis. "Don't apologize," he smiled. "I love you too!"
