There's something that's not right about Grian and Doc can almost sense it.
In most of the hermits minds, there wasn't really anything to worry about. Grian wasn't really a good talker when it comes to these problems but told them not to worry about his well-being.
Doc however, somewhat became paranoid that something was going on more than what Grian was saying. One day, while the hermits were busy doing what they had to do, Doc had the time to make a visit to Grian's base. He flew over pass Mumbo's base before heading to Grian's.
Upon going inside, Grian was somehow not there? He could be just still trying to beat whatever stupid building competition the architects, Ren and Scar were doing, but not even once has anyone heard about him except for Iskall who've also said that Grian was perfectly fine.
His head was shaking. Where could he possible be this time?
Not caring that this was basically trespassing to someone's base, Doc entered without warning and heads downstairs, hoping that Grian was doing something that Doc doesn't know. Of course Doc doesn't know, him and Grian haven't really been talking that much seriously for ages. Especially after the war (which broke some relationships apart), Grian had began to distance himself.
"Is anybody home?" Doc yelled out.
There was no response.
"Grian?"
Doc made sure that he wasn't disturbing Grian from anything else, tiptoeing around each room and finding no signs of Grian. A loud sniffle was heard from behind, Doc became alerted. It must have come from Grian's room. Opening the room, Doc's heart sank as he sees Grian in a mess. He was wrapped in a blanket, mountains of tissues were all over his bed as Grian cried softly.
Immediately, Doc ran up to Grian out of full concern and anger. "Gri, I've been so worried for you!" He hugged Grian tightly, wiping away the tears with the tissues. In fact, the tissue box was already running out and it showed that none of the hermits knew that Grian was in base crying his eyes out.
"I didn't want to tell anyone..." Grian felt startled to finally talk to Doc and not just about pranking or building. He started to play with his soft hazel like hair, blushing at the sight of seeing Doc again. "Why are you here?"
Doc could feel that sense of romance again, giving a warm smile at him. Adorable, Grian was probably the reason why Doc's day can turn into a better one. "Doesn't mean we talk serious, doesn't mean I still care for you Gri."
Grian's face turned into a flushed look, he has a habit of being embarrassed over the smallest things despite being called a try-hard multiple times by Doc as a joke. "Shut up, dummy!"
Doc pouted, climbing into bed with an emotional Grian. And god, that awful smirk Doc kept on while Grian tries to push him away out of fear that Doc was doing this to be nice. Finally, Grian just simply gave up on actually keeping Doc away from annoying him. Tired to even squabble, Grian curled up with his pillow.
This was when Doc for the first time, didn't know what to do next. His eyes were only on Grian, attempting to fall asleep while ignoring that his opposing rival from the war is now in bed with him. Maybe he'll stay for a while, his bedroom was in a mess but Doc only wanted to see if he was okay at the end. If only he could ask more.
"So, is this where you have been the whole time?" Doc asked, brushing Grian's hair with his own hands. Grian looks up at Doc, a slight bit of shock from him to say the least.
"You know that feeling when you've realised the person you love the most doesn't even care about you anymore?" Grian yawned, his eyes were now back to being watery. "It hurts, my body felt something I never felt before and that was being heartbroken."
Doc did what well, a loving person could do. Cuddling wasn't really his cup of tea, but seeing Grian is such a bad state made Doc also felt a feeling of heartache. This boy, who brought out the light and energy of each hermit's day had his heart broken by the man that promised to stay by his side. And now the sunshine had become broken.
Pulling Grian out of the blanket, Doc wrapped his arms around Grian's body as he cuddled him warmly. There wasn't any words to say, a pure moment between the two that were once friends, then nothing and now something else. Doc watched Grian buried his face in his chest, smiling softly at each time Doc would mention how adorable he was.
In just a few minutes of continuing to hum softly to a lullaby, Grian would slowly start to see Doc's loving side again. Not this mad scientist that loves to make jokes about dicks, more of so that he was the only hermit that did something. Grian doesn't blame his friends for not being able to help that well, maybe he needed more time alone. He was surprised that Doc would go out of his way to see if he was okay or not.
And for Doc, he didn't really want Grian's love back. No matter what, even when the circumstances were difficult between them, Doc would still welcome Grian back to his life wherever that be lover or best friend.
Their hands slowly shifted towards each other, as Grian started to see it. He looks terrified, probably because of how Doc was intimidating. But Doc smiled at him, holding Grian's hand. Grian saw him today as the one that came to the rescue.
Grian then asked Doc, mumbling his words out. "If I ever need someone to hold, can I come to you instead?"
Doc then gently kissed Grian on the cheek, giving the love and affection that Grian needed the most. "Of course, Grian."
