ISKALL NO!

A/N: Third part. Title self explanatory. I think I'll be calling this the Chaos AU.

------------------------

I stared down at the pages in front of me. They were different from the rest, penned in a darker ink and slightly singed and ripped at the edges, almost as if someone had tried to destroy them. Some of the words were impossible to make out, but I could garner the gist of the writing. I scanned the lines, eyes darting back and forth across the pages.

"...magic is a fickle thing. Occasionally, ordinary beings will become infused with it, granting them extraordinary powers. But their mastery pales in comparison to that of other beings. Some of these can be summoned and, if the rituals are successful, contained. The magic and knowledge that would be at one's disposal with one of these god-like beings on one's side would be immense. They could grant one knowledge of magic and it's sources..."

I paused. Maybe if I summoned one of these beings, I could figure out everything. It sounded a bit dangerous, but it was for science. Surely it couldn't hurt to try?

There was a list of what I would need for this "ritual," along with a diagram. I darted around the lab, gathering materials and clearing out a space to use it all. Glancing back at the diagram for a guide, I drew a large chalk circle with two smaller ones inside it. I scratched some stars in between two of the circles, and an ominous symbol in the center of it all. By the time I was done with all this, I had gone through three pieces of playground chalk and two regular pieces.

I placed a few crystal shards I had lying around on the outside of the circles. Adding a few final touches to it all, I looked at the diagram again. Jeez, this was very specific. When I was done, I took a few steps back and began reciting the words in the book.

"Kausta dwerva. Jierda sköliro galdr, gath sundavr. Eka ethgrí ono eom vakna un kausta aptr waíse heill. Hórna un rïsa!"

(A/N: This is a language of magic from a series of books I read. This section translates to "Come night. Break the shielding spell, unite shadows. I invoke you to awaken and come to be healed. Hear and rise!" Yes this sounds evil. Thats because it is.)

The moment the last of the strange words had left my mouth, the lights began to flicker. The ground trembled, mounting to a crescendo of jerking and flickering. Darkness seemed to coalesce into a physical form in the center of this ritual thing, leeching off of the components. Suddenly it all stopped. The darkness morphed into a vaguely human form with glowing eyes.

Then it laughed, and my very being seemed to quiver in fear. This thing... it wasn't right. It gazed at me with thinly veiled curiosity and disinterest. Grinning maniacally, it spoke in a voice that grated against my senses.

"Thank you mortal... for your deeds, I shall destroy you last."

With that, it dispersed into darkness and fled the room. Everything seemed to return to normal, but I had a sinking feeling that I had just done something horribly wrong.

Then a voice sounded behind me.

"What the hell have you done?!"

A/N: Here you go. This is much shorter than before, slightly because I have a bit of a time crunch. Please enjoy Iskall's mistakes and another cliffhanger. I have some more school, so maybe another part on the weekend. Anyways, good night! Looking forward to writing some CHAOTIC AU stuff for you all! :))
