------------
He didn't even open his eyes. The first thing he knew was the squishy substance under his body.
... What.
There was a pressure on his head, as if he was getting pressed into the squishy stuff. Someone's knees were on his torso, pinning him to the floor and taking the breath out of him. He was curled in an uncomfortable position on the ground, laying on his side with his arm getting crushed. He winced in pain as it was already numb. How long had he been like that?
Of all positions he could be in, why in Minecraft would be be like this?
His heart thumped against his ribs. Why was he here? When did he get in this position? Where was he? What was he laying on?
Who was he?
My memories...
He tried remembering the last thing he did.
... Nothing. Why...
He groaned in annoyance, trying to move his arm. A headache started to form behind his eyes.
"Don't. Move," a voice in his ear hissed as his eyes fluttered open. He froze, following the man's orders. However, if there wasn't a sword pressed to the back of his neck, he would have flopped around like a fish out of water just to piss the person off and possible throw them off him.
So he sat there, still as a statue and fearing for his life, hair over his face and head lightly pressed against the squishy substance.
He directed his eyes to a helmet that lay in the weird grey stuff a few blocks away. It was a dark grey color, visor tinted dark red. It must have been reflective glass since you couldn't see through it. Looking down at his body, he apparently wore red armor with beige underclothing, grey fingerless gloves, and tan boots.
What kind of fashion sense did he have?
... None, apparently.
The two of them must have been in that same position for at least ten minutes. He took in his surroundings as best as he could. A large diamond pile. A hill with what seems like two stores on top and bottom. A quartz road leading into the hill. Grass along the road...
Where was this place? It seemed friendly and innocent enough. It looked hospitable.
Well, not the person pinning him down.
A rocket jolted him out of his musings. A man landed, armor just like his except it was yellow. He had a helmet over his head; it looked like a bee. The person on the floor scowled, but paused for a second, changing his expression to a genuine defeated and exhausted one. He didn't even know this guy, what would cause such a reaction? What happened before he lost his memory that would cause an almost automatic change in expression and emotion?
"Thanks, Tango," the man with the bee helmet said, his glance turning to the person on the floor. He thought as he awkwardly stared at the weird grey stuff he has been pressed against for who knows how long. The dude pressing him down- apparently named Tango- nodded in response and laid the flat side of his blade on his own shoulder. He took his knee off of him
"Well, look who decided to show his face... quite literally, I might add," the bee-man said, voice on the edge of a harsh warning. "You never took your helmet off before, not even in my presence." The person he was talking to stayed quiet, not making eye contact with either men. Tango and the bee guy shared a look. The guy in the yellow armor squatted down in front of him, trying to get some reaction.
Not even a falter in his breathing.
"Are you okay? If I know you well enough- which I should, you're my brother- you're always snapping back at me," Bee-man said, tone of voice turning to only concern. No response except the raise of an eyebrow. He frowned, reaching down and brushing the hair out of the red-cladded man's face with a gentle hand. The one on the floor noticed out of the corner of his eye, he had the same gloves as the bee person did. He silently sighed, his light purple eyes staring at the floor, broken and defeated.
The bee man pulled away, resting his elbows on his knees. There was no sense of familiarity in the guy's eyes. It almost hurt him since they had close rel-
"I don't know you. I don't remember you," he spoke for the first time out loud. His voice was raspy and dry, cracking in the middle of the sentence.
"Come on, now's not the time to joke around like this." The bee man frowned, not receiving a response once again. His gaze turned to Tango, but he was still talking to the other. "Please listen to me. Now isn't the time to-"
"I don't know who I am," the other man said, clearing his throat. "I can't help you, sorry."
"Wait, wait, you don't remember who I am?" Tango asked. He shook his head. Tango pointed to the yellow-armor man. "Him? You should-"
"Like I said," he huffed in a hard voice. "I don't remember. I don't know my name, I don't know your name, I don't know anyone's name. I don't know where we are, I don't know what this stuff is-" he gestured to the grey stuff. "I don't. Remember. Now leave me alone." The bee man- he should really find out his name- froze. Something in his expression gave away the pain.
"I- you're my brother... how-"
"Very nice, but let's start with the names. I know Tango, I heard you earlier. What's your name and what's my name?" The question was said in a hard and monotone voice. The bee man looked taken aback at the straightforwardness. Tango cocked an eyebrow, but stayed silent.
He sputtered for a moment before answering, "I'm Xisuma, you're EX."
"Odd name." EX slowly sat up, carefully extending his legs as if it'd hurt. His hair fell over his shoulders, tangled and unkempt.
Goodness me, this sucks.
He looked down at his hands, carefully examining them. They were calloused and rough like sandpaper. His gaze traveled to the rest of his arms, eyes tracing the veins that lined his muscular arms.
When EX looked back up, Xisuma was watching with eyes that only shone with pity. It must pain him to see his brother like this. EX took a deep breath, sighing and looking away. Tango laid a silent hand on Xisuma's shoulder as he too averted his gaze.
"EX... I'm sorry, I didn't know the void would do this... I didn't know that banning you there would take your memory-" EX snapped his head to Xisuma, effectively stopping him in the middle of his sentence.
It's his fault I don't know anything?
It's his fault this situation happened in the first place?
"Excuse me?" EX hissed, pointing an accusing finger at Xisuma. "You are the reason I don't remember who I am?"
"EX, I-" the red-armored man shot to his feet, shoulders raised and fists clenched. He stared at his brother with a deathly glare.
"Don't give me an excuse, you said you banned me to the void," EX's eyes held an indescribable amount of fury. Xisuma stepped back as EX started to storm towards him.
"Brother-"
"Did you not like, research or know the side effects of staying in the void for however long I did? Are you that dense?" Xisuma folded his hands under his armpits, almost hugging himself. Glaring down at him, EX's lips curled into a sneer.
"Hey, relax, it's not his fault. He didn't know," Tango said, stepping forwards with his sword drawn. He looked pitiful compared to EX, but that didn't stop him from trying to protect Xisuma.
"Yeah, it only cost me my memory! It only cost me who I was!" EX stepped back, glaring at the duo.
"Ev- uh, EX, we didn't-" Tango tried, stuttering on his name. EX didn't seem to notice, much to Xisuma's relief.
What am I going to do now...?
"Leave me alone." EX turned and ran without waiting for a word. He scooped his helmet off the found, not looking back once. Diving into the water, he left the two, exerting his anger by using a lot of his energy swimming.
And the two Hermits just let him leave.
(there will be a part two but woah Quill, chill with the ex and xisuma stuff, theres a book focused on the two of them coming out soon take a chill pill-
k goodnight <3)
