It was a few hours after I was released from the 'hospital'. I sat in my base, running my hand through my hair. I sigh, realizing I can't really do anything. Joe and Stress would force me back to bed if they saw me outside. I stand and make my way towards a mirror. I lean closer to it, observing myself. Scars littered the visible area of my arms, definitely more under the sweater that I repaired earlier. I lift the lower part of my sweater up, showing my torso. The bandage with dried, purple blood was still there. I furrow my eyebrows as I slip my sweater off my body. I drop it to the side, ruffling my hair with my other hand.
I decide to do something I haven't done in ages. My wings slowly and painfully come out of my back. Last time I did this, I could only extend them a quarter way. I got excited when I extended them all the way out. They are a brown/golden color and had a six foot wingspan. I flapped them, stopping when pain shot through them. I slowly fold them on my back. I walked towards the main area of my base, feeling the tips of my wings touch the floor. I trip over something, falling to the floor with a crash. I sit up, looking at the object that caused my trip. It was a shulker box. Inside was a book, written by Xisuma. He wanted to meet about what happened a few hours prior. He wanted to be at my base...
"Grian?" I hear the admins voice call.
"Coming!" I call back. I walk towards where I was going in the first place, the main area. Xisuma was sitting on one of my shulker boxes, almost falling off because he sat on the edge.
"Hi, I just- woah, you're wings are beautiful. Did you always have them?" He looked at the wings on my back.
"Oh, uhm... yeah, I did. I just hid them in my back. They're still healing from years ago when I first escaped."
"About that... I just wanted to talk about concerns. Can you fully control your abilities now that you've used them?" I nodded, not saying anything. I nervously ruffle my feathers, some falling out.
"I've forgotten how much these things shed. To be honest, it's kinda annoying." I say, picking the feathers up. Xisuma looked at me with amusement shining through his helmet.
"Alright, that's basically all I wanted to ask. I also came by to see how you are doing. Are you ok now?"
"Yeah, thanks X-I-sumavoid." I smirk. He smiles back.
"So can you actually fly with those things?"
"Yes, but they hurt now. I used to be able to, before they were smashed against the wall at an awkward angle." I look away, remembering how heartbroken I was when I couldn't fly. Xisuma patted my shoulder awkwardly.
"I bet. Well, I think it's about time for me to go."
"Please don't tell anyone about my wings yet?" He nodded, taking off with an elytra.
Weeks went by as I used my wings more, allowing them to heal faster than before. The day they were fully healed was the day I was excited for, and dreaded.
I could finally fly again, but what would the Hermits' reaction be?
I don't allow myself to think about that, as I force myself to fly out of my base and into the open. Yes, it felt good to be able to fly without using elytras and rockets once again, after several years.
(please choose if they take it well or not. i got extremely tired while writing this, so sorry for the rushed ending.)
