Why ignore me Mumbo Jumbo?

<Quick heads up: This chapter ended up getting derailed quite a bit by the end, but hey I still like it okay so I hope you will too. Anyways, enjoy!>

Iskall had thought Grian being upset that Mumbo hadn't sent him a message was just him making the Swede laugh, which it did, but as he looked closer he could see the smile the dirty blond wore didn't reach his eyes. And he came to realize that Grian was genuinely upset by this, which didn't sit right with him. And thinking back to season 6, whilst not as bad as now, Mumbo didn't answer his mail a lot back then too.

The Swede made a decision that he'd seen Grian mail, which meant making a mailbox because it'd be too far to do it my minecart. So he set up a mailbox, a barrel on a fence with a sign, just outside the hobbit hole. He added a redstone lamp he could flick on to show that there was mail.

He then wrote out a quick little letter before placing it in and turning the lamp on. His good deed to the community was now started, and he'd do it for as long as he could! Even once Grian moved into his main base he'd do his best to continue.

And the bright light of the lamp was what greeted Grian when he came back from the shopping district. He looked at it curiously before opening the barrel, which contained a letter and a bone engraved with "leg-kture" on it. He snorted at the gift as he read the letter. And once he finished it he let out a little laugh, of course Iskall noticed.

He took the letter and bone, turned off the lamp, and walked inside. Once inside he took out a few planks and made a chest. He then placed said chest and put the letter and bone in it. The chest of mail gifts has been created. He hoped he'd at least fill it halfway.

Little did he know it'd be much more than that.

You see, Stress and Scar had both noticed Iskall flying to Grian's base nearly everyday and got suspicious. They confronted him about it, hesitantly so, and was told about the mailbox. This of course got the two of them to write letters to Grian too, though Scar was more of a gift giver-of-crystals but the sentiment and intent were still there.

Other Hermits soon noticed the pattern too and joined in too. Some asking for reason, some just giving blindly, and some already figured it out themselves.

Grian had eventually collected the first gifts and letters of everyone and placed that in a large chest, and placed everything after that in shulkers bought for each Hermit. He really enjoyed every letter and gift, going through them if he was ever feeling down.

He decided that he needed to repay them all somehow, but how?

An idea suddenly came to mind. Wonderful! That would most likely work.

It took him all day to make a list of what he needed, but it was a day well spent. He then asked Xisuma the next day if it was okay if he went into the main world to get some specific materials, and the admin agreed.

Grian wasted no time in getting what he needed, and thankfully he already knew the location of all that he needed or else this would be a pain worse than pain.

"Right on time my dear." Smiled the woman behind the counter as Grian entered the last shop on his trip.

"Always on time for you, Madame!" Grinned Grian, flashing his teeth at the shopkeeper.

The woman rolled her gray eyes. "How many times must I say it, Grian? It's Irda to you. Now what can I help you with?"

"I need those special things you made me? It's for this." Said the violet eyed man, putting his plans on the counter and pushing it towards Irda.

She took one look at it before smiling. "I'm sure we have some left, and others can be made easy. Though it will take awhile to make, a few hours at least, you don't mind waiting do you?"

He shook his head. He didn't mind waiting. Especially not for this.

The drake smiled at him. "Then I'll get to it immediately!" She noticed the start of a pout on the short man's face. "Yes you can come in. Just don't bother anyone!"

Grain rounded the counter and made his way to the back of the Arcane Mage: The one stop shop for mysteries and mythics.

It was an old family run business of the Wolfhearts', it had probably been around since the first independent realms were made if he had to guess. He guessed it had something to do with how the family was full of mages with hybrid blood, like how Irda was a drake hybrid.

He entered the back of the shop where everyone else was to be greeted by seven or so hybrids working away with different things. They waved or said a quick hi before turning back to their work. Grain followed Irda as she walked up to a short neko brunette and tapped her on the back. "Sophia? Do you have a moment?"

The neko turned to the elder and nodded. "Yeah, what do you need?"

"Do you know where the recipe for the crystals we made for Grian a few years ago are?"

Sophia nodded again and motioned to a cabinet on the wall a few feet away. "Yeah it's in there." She then noticed Grain. "Oh! Grian, good to see you again!"

"You too." Said Grian. He hadn't really talked to Sophia all too much, as she was someone who'd recently joined the family last time he was here.

While the two had talked sortly Irda had grabbed the papers. "Here we are! All prepared to start now, you ready to run bird boy?"

The dirty blond grinned up at her. "You bet!"

The next few hours flew by in a blur, Grian having a blast running around gathering what Irda needed. As long as she made his crystals he'd be happy to do anything for her at the moment. Of course he didn't say this out loud, because if he did Irda would definitely take him up on it.

A few minutes later the last of the crystals had been made and packaged. He let Irda give him a forehead kiss before he left, promising to write or to visit her about how it went.

Once he got back he greeted everyone in chat before heading to the location he'd picked for what he had planned. And with all the energy he had, he managed to finish the build within the day. Though he did take a break so he would be at his best when putting up the last of the decoration.

The next day everyone received a message, yes even Mumbo, that were just a pair of coordinates. Everyone shrugged and made their way there, this had to have something to do with his one day disappearance. It had to or there would be a disappointed and pouty Zedaph, which was never a good thing if you wanted to focus on something.

As they all arrived at the destination they couldn't help but to question if that really mattered, as the build in front of them came into view.

It wasn't anything super flashy, nor very big, but each block was obviously placed with love and care. And the small details made it all look better. Oh I haven't explained what it is, have I? It was a temple-like stone brick building decorated with ornate windows out of every color under the rainbow.

Grian stood by the entrance with a large smile, cheeks flushed under the heat. He waited for them all to get closer before he spoke up. "Welcome everyone! I have prepared a little something for you all, so if you'd just follow me we could get going."

And everyone did follow him, interested with what the builder had made for them. They passed empty rooms and walked by winds that cast brightly colored light on the stone beneath their feet, eyes looking everywhere. It wasn't as decorated as the outside, but there was still detail. As Grian opened a pair of heavy oak doors they all gasped. The room was decorated with plants of every color, along with windows of the same treatment. In the middle there was a pristine looking altar with a pure white cloth covering it.

"Welcome to the room of acceptance!" Grinned Grian, throwing his hands up and motioning around the room. "Stay here and wait for me to call you up, I want to make this as formal as I can."

He then ran off to a side room before coming back with a basket full of crystals, he then walked up to the altar and put them down before pulling out a list. Grian then started calling out names. "Bdubs!"

The dark haired man walked up and was handed a crystal. He looked at it and then up at Grian in confusion. "What is this?"

"A protection crystal." Smiled Grian. "It's like a totem of undying, but it works for permadeath worlds."

Bdubs looked down at the crystal with a new found wonder. "Oh Grian! I'll treasure it forever!"

The dark haired man stepped down from the altar and let GRian call the next one up. And so he went on, giving out crystals to everyone. Once done with everyone Xisuma asked the question that had been on nearly everyone's minds. "Why have you given us these? Not that I'm not honored you went through the trouble to get them! I'm just curious."

"You have all been giving me letters and gifts recently, or at least most of you have, so I thought I'd repay you. Repay you for that and for accepting me so easily." Smiled Grian softly, looking down on his servermates. "Yes even you Mumbo, you might not respond to my messages but I still love you, you spoon."

"You do know this is basically you saying that we're your family, right?" Asked Tango, looking from his crystal to the man that gave it to him.

The dirty blond grinned at him. "That's kinda the point."

"Oh your my family too!" Cried Zedaph, launching himself at Grian and wrapping him in a tight hug.

Echoes of the blonds statement was shared between the other Hermits, all of them agreeing that Grian was indeed their family too. Grian melted into Zed's side as he heard them all, warmed by their words. "Thank you. Thank you all."

"No. Thank you, Grian." Interrupted Xisuma, placing a hand on Grian's shoulder. "Thank you for being you. And thank you for this place brighter than ever before."

<Hermit family babyyyyyyyyy! I thought this was going to be angst, but instead there is fluff! Anyhow I'm now going back to working a scheduled, goodness knows I need it, so hopefully things will come out closer to each other than normal. And that's all I have to say I think. So stay safe and have a wonderful time everyone!>
