For the resistance

Scar didn't know how the mycelium started coming back, or why for that matter, but he did all he could to contain it, like any good mayor should. But it all just continued to spread, farther, and farther. Bdubs had told him that there were still some hidden under decorative blocks around some shops, so for a short while going around fixing that made him feel like he was fixing the problem, like he was stopping this revolution.

But. It. Just. Keept. Spreading.

It was at such a point now that not even his magic could keep it at bay, nor did X's magic do anything to the mycelium menace. And worryingly Grian was nowhere to be found, not even a feather was discovered. And it worried Scar, what if the mycelium had done something to the dirty blonde? He pondered this as he returned to town hall, and promptly froze. There, sitting innocently on the floor, was a singular mycelium block. He broke it and threw it on a fire, desperate to keep it away. How the hell did a mycelium block get to the Town Hall? In no way would they ever spread like that and just appeared out of nothing, unless they were man made of course. Someone was spreading the myelium? Why? And who?

Scar kept asking himself that, but deep down he knew he already had a name to the culprit. But he really didn't have any evidence, I mean no one had even seen Grian for days! So how was he doing this? The brunette did what he came for and then left, heading home to the jungle to get some rest. And he woke up the next day refreshed and ready to tackle the issue. So he called up Xisuma and Cub, and Bdubs too as an afterthought, the man deserved to be there too. But when he got the shopping district it was all a disaster, mycelium hills of all sizes were everywhere, shops unaligned or just plain destroyed now fluttering the once pristine green grasslands of the shopping district.

The people he'd called, and a few stragglers who were in the shopping district as well, were all there, eyes as wide as his.

"What happened?" Was the first thing Scar asked as he reached the final staircase, "It wasn't like this last night!"

"We don't know! I looked away for a second, and then it was all just there!" Cried Bdubs, motioning wildly out at the area before them, hand shaking all the while, "I asked Xisuma if he had something to do with this, but he knew just as much as me."

Over in a corner Xisuma was pacing up and down the side of the hall, "It shouldn't be possible, not even if it was all done by hand, and I'm the only one with admin abilities here so that's out of the question."

"I think we might be losing him." Muttered Cub, half looking at the admin and half out at the mess outside, "But I think I agree with what he's not saying, this was a player, but one not like any we've ever seen before.

----------------------------------

Purple-gray claws clicked against the netherrack as its owner wandered through the narrow tunnel, dusty purple particles floating off of him with every single movement. His dulled out wings dragged on the ground, the tips crumpled up from being dragged through dirt and gravel for so long, violet eyes surrounded by black focused ahead.

Grian had changed drastically ever since he started his little revolution, in more than just looks. His biology, all of his insides, had changed to accommodate what he had become. He now only saw in black, gray, brown and purple, with other colors fading to their closest hues out of the four. His hands were now claw-like as well, his ears were more elf-like, and there were now green markings traveling all over his body. He was so different to see who he was by now, all the changes serving to make him nearly unrecognizable. But still, as he walked into the overworld and his newly taken back territory, he was still recognized by the gathered Hermits.

"Grian! Is that you?" A brunette, with a face of scars... Ah, of course, the mayor, "What's happened to you? Why do you look like a mushroom island version of Doc? With less cybernetics of course."

"Did you like my gift?" He asked instead of answering the questions, they were unimportant anyways, not important at all to anything, "I saw you were having a little green problem, so I helped you out."

He laughed at the shocked looks they now had, was it really that surprising? "What's the matter? It looks like you've all seen a ghost!"

"You did this?" The man in the armor with a purple visor stuttered out, the admin, his mind supplied helpfully, "How?"

"Magic!" He said with a giggle, waving his hands in a mock jazz hands gesture, "And some behind your back coding, but mostly magic."

"Why?" Asked Scar, eyes wide, "Why bring it all back?!"

Grian let out a gravelly laugh, "Why not? You think you can just erase it, take it from the lands from where it came, without it fighting back? It's nature for it to fight!" He tilted his head at them, flashing his sharpened teeth at the assembled, "And I'm fighting for it too, just how you're fighting against it."

"What will you do to defend it?" Wondered Cub, making sure he was close enough to protect everyone should the need arise.

"Nothing I haven't done before." Purred the new creeper hybrid brightly, though the words were laced with a dangerous warning to be extremely cautious.

"Oh I feel so much better now!" Sassed Bdubs, frowning down at Grian. "Seriously though, why do this? You've ruined at least three shops all to 'help', seriously dude this isn't helping anyone."

"Who says I was helping you?" Laughed Grian, "And what if your shops get destroyed? They were in the way, so it was a necessary sacrifice."

"'Necessary sacrifice'?" Cried the brunette builder, "You're destroying days of hard work! You're doing nothing but harm!"

The creeper hybrid seemed to have finally lost his patience with Bdubs and charged at him, but he didn't get far before a trident blocked his path. Letting out an agitated hiss he turned his gaze to his attacker, and of course it was none other than his green counterpart, with backup at his heels, snapping his jaws together he turned all focus on his new opponents, "If it isn't my favorite green counterpart, here to spread yourself on my land even more?"

"It's not your land, Grian," Growled Doc, hand holding on tighter to his trident, "Never was and never will be."

"Not my land?" Scoffed the gray creeper, clawed hands flexing by his sides, "You must be even dumber than them if you think that. This is my land, mine to protect and help, it has accepted me like I have it. I mean look at me! It made me a perfect protector, who am I to not repay it for that?"

"It has made you a monster!" Shouted Doc, the silent plead for Grian to stop was barely noticeable in his tone.

Grian let out a cackle, stepping closer to the other man, "And I love it!" Up in Town hall the gathered took a sharp intake of breath, and so did the Hermits by Doc's side, "Because unlike you, I can be good and do what I'm supposed to do!"

"And become a mindless mob? No thanks." Growled Doc, "I will not allow you to be that either, you know, so just surrender and let us help."

"Help? You'll take it from me! You'll take the last of the mycelium from me!" Shouted Grian, hands swinging wildly as he motioned all around them. The two were now very close to each other, Doc almost close enough to grab a hold of the smaller, "And I will not stand for it!"

Doc cried out in surprise as Grian's small form shot at him, claws already digging into his skin painfully from where light haired creeper could reach. He grabbed Grian by his hair and flung him off, letting the man tumble away, though he recovered quickly and got on his feet to charge again. They traded blows for a few minutes, and for every hit Doc got in Grian would give one back, at several points the gathered Hermits had tried to get involved, but the fight was too up and personal for them to safely get in now.

The fight changed when Doc got in a big hit on Grian's back, making the smaller cry out in pain as his back was slashed open with big, sharp claws. That was one of the many differences between grassland creepers and mycelium creepers, other than their colors, the grass had bigger claws good for digging into things, but the mycelium dwellers had longer and even sharper ones, where one would drag the other would glide with no problem.

The taller hybrid hesitated for a second, but it was a second Grian used to his advantage, flaring out his wings he aimed a pair of sharp claws to come down on Doc's neck, but just as he was about to make contact a sering pain erupted in his abdomen. Looking down he saw the shining blue blade of Doc's sword dug deep in his stomach, blood already running down it in threads.

Grian's breath hitched as he looked back up at Doc's face, his face taking the horrified expression on the other, seems like that wasn't a planned defence then. His arms shook with the effort to keep himself up, he knew he'd just sink deeper into the blade in him if he did.

"Do-Docy," Doc's breath hitched as he looked up into terrified violet eyes brimming with tears, "I-I'm scared. Why-why have-haven't I respawned yet?" Grian let out a hysterical laugh, "I'm at zero hearts, why-why am I still here? Why haven't I die-" he didn't get to finish before he started letting out wet coughs, blood splattering out on Doc's face when they got really bad. But the creeper was numb to it all, mind not yet processing what was going on.

Slowly, with shaking hands, Doc reached up and touched Grian's cheek. The skin under his hand was rough and cold, but it was Grian's. So was the shaking, the tremors, and the tears. He opened his mouth to say something, anything, but nothing came out of him but stuttering breaths. Grian brought his own hand up to Doc's, placing it over the one on his cheek and leaned in to the touch, body tilted slightly to the side now. "I'm sorry Docy, I didn't mean to hurt you." And with a last sorrowful, and regretful smile, Grian collapsed to his side unconscious.

And just as quick as a blink, all the sound that had previously been dulled roared over Doc's ears in a vicious assault. Pounding footsteps on grass, shouts and screams, crying, it was all just so loud, he just wanted to scream. But he didn't, couldn't, it was like his voice had been ripped away and crushed into dust and blown away in the wind. Distantly he felt someone shake his shoulders, but at this point he wasn't very much in the mood to turn and face them. Thankfully he didn't have to, as a familiar bearded face entered his vision, "...Beef."

"That's it Doc, I'm here." The man held onto the creepers arm tightly, as if afraid something would happen if he let go. "You're fine, everythings going to be alright."

"No! Nothings fine!" Cried Doc, gripping onto Beef's arm tightly, nearly to tightly, "I just fucking stabbed Grian and he's not respawning! He was at zero hearts and still here! Nothing about that is fine!" His breathing had picked up by now, eye stinging with tears, "My god, I stabbed him. He was attacking me sure, but I fucking killed him. He wasn't even in control, he was just doing something else's will, and I killed him for it."

"Hey no, none of that now." Hushed Beef, wrapping himself around Doc in a warm hug, "He's alive, Xisuma said so. His heart is beating, he's alive Doc, you didn't kill him. He's just hurt, but it's nothing we can't fix."

The cyborg's breaths evened out at the words, but he was still shaking, "Grian's...fine? Just hurt, by me, I still hurt him!"

"He'll forgive you." Etho had now joined the hug, sitting down on Beef's left, "I think he's going to be more mad at himself then you, if I'm honest."

"But, he didn't do anything!" Argued Doc, "It was that damn mycelium!"

"He won't think that, just as you will think you've permanently hurt him." Bdubs was here now too, just back from getting rid of the last of the mycelium on the island, "Which you haven't, I just checked with X, Grian will be fully healed by the end of the day, and then sometime tomorrow we expect him to wake up." He gave Doc a lopsided grin, "There won't even be a scar, or pain for that matter!"

The builder let his smile fall to a more comforting one as he looked the taller in his eyes, "He woke up for a second you know, guess who's name he called out? Yours. He wanted you Doc, don't take that from him man. Go see him once he's awake, I think you both need to talk about what happened today."

"Yeah," breathed Doc, eyes trained on his blood covered hands, he was doing his best to ignore the blood he knew was still on his face in favor of thinking about the friends surrounding him, "Yeah that sounds like a good idea."

< Word count: 2327

Hey! Sorry that this is a day late, I was just a bit to high on nerves yesterday to finish it, but I finished it today! And I know this isn't one of the requests, but I got the idea and decided to go with it. And yes there will be a part 2, I just couldn't fit it in without making this come out even later. Now here's a picture of what Grian looks like:

So with that I hope you all stay safe, and that you also have a wonderful time!>
