A Hermit Gift

<I made my first fic fore the Pokémon AU! Plus this this has the (not so) reveal of something else. So enjoy!>

"What do you mean Grian doesn't have any Pokémon?" Was the first thing Etho said after Doc gave a short summary of everyone. "He has to have at least one, right?"

"He has none." Confirmed Doc, gently scratching his Absol's head.

Etho looked nearly devastated at that, he could hardly imagine living without his loyal companions by his side. The white haired man then grinned under his mask, he had an idea. "How about we give him one?"

Doc thought about it, it didn't seem like a bad idea. Sure Grian didn't have his own Pokémon, but he regularly interacted with the other Hermits teams and the wild Pokémon, so he obviously didn't have anything against them.

"That actually doesn't sound half bad. But what Pokémon should we get him?"

Neither of them really knew what to get. They decided to hold a server meeting, without Grian, to discuss it with everyone else.

"I'd say some sort of flying Pokémon." Said Mumbo. "Perhaps a Taillow?"

"No way!" Called Iskall, his Growlith barking in agreement. "Chatot would fit way better."

Here Scar voiced his disagreement, "Are you trying to make him more annoying for me? I say go with Fletchling instead."

"Why don't we just ask Grian to choose one?" Suggested Etho, a little done with the bickering. "That way he'll get the perfect Pokémon."

Doc snorted at that. "Right, ask the man who hasn't owned a single Pokémon his entire life to pick one. And how do you think that will go?"

Etho grumbled a bit at that, but didn't fight his friend's words.

At the head of the table Xisuma groaned into his hands at this. "If we go on like this we'll be in season 10 before a decision is made." His Indeedee (male) gently patted his back comfortingly.

"May I suggest something?" Asked Zedaph. X nodded at him meekly. "My family are breeders, well my parents are at least, I'm sure they have an egg we could have."

"Does anyone object to this idea?" Asked X, looking up whilst still keeping his head in his hands.

No one was against it, some even voiced their agreements.

"Good! Zed you get in contact with your parents and get that egg. And remember; no one says a thing!"

--------------------------------------------------------

Somehow Grian didn't find out at all, he didn't even hear a whisper of it. Xisuma called it a miracle, and the other's had to agree.

Everything had been going smoothly. Cub had gotten some Pokéballs from his family's factory, Ultraballs to be more exact. But then Zedaph went and picked up the egg, and got back with more than originally bargained for.

"How in the world did you go for an egg, and come back with it and a Pidgeot?!" Asked Tango, motioning at Zedaph. Said blond was holding an egg in his arms with a massive Pidgeot resting on the Nether portal, keeping an eye on Zedaph at all times.

"I don't know!" Cried Zedaph, careful as to not disturb the egg and make it's flying protector mad. "He just didn't want to stay without the egg and my parents told me to take him with me!"

"Seems like Grian will be getting two Pokémon then." Said Etho, looking up at the bird Pokémon. "And I'll sue him if he complains, because that looks to be one powerful Pokémon."

They were just about to move to a place where they would hide the Pidgeot and the egg, to make it a real surprise for Grian, said builder came flying in. As soon as he saw the mass gathering of Hermits below he descended and landed a little better ways away from the group.

"Hi guys, what's the gathering about?" He then spotted Zedaph with the egg, somehow missing the flying type over his head, and a smile grew on his face. "Oh my Arceus, are one of you guys getting a new Pokémon? What type of Pokémon is it?"

Zedaph -in a pit of a panic- hurriedly walked up to Grian and handed him the egg. "Uh-why don't you find out for yourself? Here!"

Grian took the egg, holding it gently in his arms. "Uh, Zed I don't know how to tell what type of Pokémon this is. Can't you tell? You were raised by breeders after all."

Doc stepped in before Zedaph could make the situation any more bad for himself. "He meant finding out by hatching the egg, he wants you to hatch it."

"We all do!" Called Cleo. She really wanted to know what Pokémon it was.

The dirty blond spluttered, looking from left to right and at everyone. "Why? What brought this on?"

Scar piped up here. "Well, we've seen you interact with Pokémon before and-"

"We wanted to give you a Pokémon but we couldn't pick one so we asked Zedaph to get an egg from his parents."

Grian looked to Etho, the one who interrupted Scar, with wide eyes. "Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why give me a Pokémon?" Elaborated Grian. "And an egg at that?"

The insecurity was visible in the dirty blonds violet eyes, especially to the Pidgeot's keen eyes. The bird flew down and landed in front of Grian, and to the Hermits amusement it was taller than Grian himself. (Pidgeot's are normal 4'11, which is Grian's height, but since this one is bigger it's more like 5'1)

It nuzzled Grian's face cooing softly to reassure the short man. The dirty blond shifted the egg so he was holding it with one hand and started scratching the great bird under his chin.

Etho smiled at the interaction. "Seems you've been accepted as fit to take care of the egg."

Cub walked up to Grian and handed him the Pokéballs. "Here, you might need these. If not to catch wild Pokémon then too catch the Pidgeot and whatever the egg will hatch into."

Grian pocketed all of them except one which he hesitantly held out for Pidgeot, letting the Pokémon choose for himself if he wanted to become his. Pidgeot leaned forward and gently pressed his forehead against it and was sucked in. There was no fight so it didn't take long for a ding to echo out. And as soon as it was heard Grian let Pidgeot out. He smiled up at him. "I promise to do my best to be the best trainer for you and the little one."

He cooed at that, rubbing against Grian before doing the same with the egg.

Grian looked up at the smiling and grinning Hermits with a happy smile. "Thank you all, this has been a wonderful gift."

"No need to thank us!" Said Zedaph with a wide grin. "You accepting the gift is thanks enough."

The Hermits headed off after that, each one wishing Grian good luck with the egg.

It was with a smile that Grian headed back to his base, flying on the back of his new Pokémon. "There's two people I'd like for you to meet, so get ready."

The flying/normal type cooed up at him in confusion, but was only met with a smile and a, "You'll see."

It didn't take them very long to get to Grian's hobbit hole, and Pidgeot was thankful for the open area in front of the entrance. Grian dismantled the brown bird and walked towards the door, motioning for the bird to follow. As soon as he got on he pulled out some very fluffy pillows and a heated blanket, he laid it carefully in an out of the way but still very visible corner and made a nest in which he put the egg down on. "Just until we return." Explained Grian.

Before Pidgeot could coo his confusion the two of them had been transported to a galaxy like realm.

It was a mix of red, yellow and blue all mixing together beautifully and the stars were both silver and gold. The two of them were currently on a floating island with a tower-like temple with the three legendary birds carved into the front. It was made out of a dark dusty purple stone like material and the roofs were a brighter purple. The windows were lit with a warm golden glow, giving the structure a welcoming homely feel.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Smiled Grian. "Now come on, it's even more beautiful inside."

'I find that hard to believe.' Said Pidgeot, not expecting the Hermit to hear him.

"I thought so too, but I was wrong." Laughed Grian.

'You understood me!' Cried the bird Pokémon, flapping his wings excitedly. 'You actually understood me!'

"Only here and in my true form unfortunately." Smiled the dirty blond trainer. "Though I can still understand the basics of what a Pokémon is trying to say."

'True form?'

The violet eyed man smiled at the question and snapped his fingers, a quick flash of flight filling Pidgeot's vision making him block it out with his wing. Once the light died down he pulled it back just to be met with a dark pair of robes. 'Grian?'

A chuckle filed the chilly, but pleasant air. "Look up."

The bird Pokémon did as instructed and came face to face with a galaxy like beings face.

"How do I look?"

'Out of this world.'

Grian laughed loudly at that, the sound echoing against walls that didn't exist. "That's a good one. Now, ready to meet my other Pokémon?"

Pidgeot was confused at this. 'Other Pokémon? I thought they said you didn't have any?'

"I don't, at least not ones which I carry with me. I just summon them when needed." As Grian had been talking they had been walking, the now galaxy like Hermit leading the Pokémon down a set of corridors until the carpet turned from purple to red. They stopped when they came to a set of doors with twin Moltres' carved into them. "Here we are."

Grian pulled out a hand from under his robes, it was also a galaxy just like his face and his elbows even had a small little flame like quality to it, and pulled the doorknob and opened the door.

He walked in with Pidgeot close behind. The room was warm and decorated with red and fire themed decorations, furniture, and floor. The entire room was massive, a lava bathtub to one side and a mountain of pillows and blankets in the other. Pidgeot was confused by the beautiful and massive golden bird perch that was against the wall opposite to the door, at least until a golden yellow bird with fire on its wings, tail and head flew in and landed on it.

'That's Moltres.' Gawked Pidgeot, looking at Grian as if he was crazy. Which he surely must be because he wasn't reacting to seeing the legendary fire bird. 'Why aren't you reacting to this?!'

"Because I saw Moltres on a day to day basis for years?" Asked Grian rhetorically.

'I miss those days.' Whined Moltres, lowering their head to be closer to Grian. 'The temple is so boring without you. Plus Dragonair has been bothering me more.'

Grian laughed. "I warned you she would get revenge for all the times you bothered her. And you do know you can talk to your siblings right?"

'But they're so boring!' Whined the legendary bird.

'You know, I'm not really as impressed by you as I thought.' Said Pidgeot. 'At last not in how you act.'

'I was surprised too.' Said the Dragonair that had just floated in and was now wrapping herself around Grian. 'Hey Grian! I see you got a new friend!'

"Hey to you too. And yeah, the Hermits though I need a Pokémon." He said this with what could only be called an eye role, even though his eyes were just two small holes that looked like galaxies.

'So they gave you a fully evolved one?" Asked the blue Pokémon. 'I don't see their logic.'

"They actually gave me an egg." Clarified Grian. "Pidgeot here just came along with it."

Dragonair detached herself from her trainer and floated over towards Pidgeot and got into his face. 'You better take care of Grian, you hear me? Or else.'

'As much as I hate it, I do have to agree with her.' Said Moltres, fully turning to look at the smaller bird. 'You better keep him safe.'

'I already agreed to that before I got here.' Said Pidgeot in a pleased tone.

'Good. Now as much as I wish for you two to stay for longer, I know you two have an egg to take care off.' Said Moltres, their tone both a bit sad yet also happy. 'So go back and take care of it, and then come back later so that you can introduce us all to them.'

"I will." Promised Grian. He gave the legendary one last scratch under the chin before giving Dragonair much the same treatment, though it lasted noticeably longer. He then walked up to Pidgeot and placed his hand on the flying types back. "It was wonderful seeing you two again, I'll see you all soon!"

And so the two were back at the hobbit hole, and Grian too was back to normal. Said man quickly walked over to the corner and picked up the egg. "Sorry for leaving you alone little one, I had to introduce Pidgeot to the family." He took another blanket from the chest and wrapped it around himself before sitting down in the pillows and blankets and pulling the egg into his lap, but not before wrapping the heated blanket around it. "You'll meet them one day too. But you're still just an egg, so that will have to wait. Gosh, you haven't even hatched yet and I already love you so much, I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like once you hatch."

Pidgeot had moved to rest protectively around the egg and Grian, fully blocking them into the corner.

It wasn't a surprise for the bird Pokémon when Grian's soft snores filled the air, he simply let himself be lulled off to sleep himself.

And that was the sight that Stress walked into the next morning, and she nearly died of cuteness overload. So she quickly took a picture before flying to Iskall. Thankfully the Swedish man was awak, so she didn't have to wake him. "Iskall! You won't believe it!"

The man looked up from where he was making a new pair of shears. "Let me guess, Grian did something extremely cute?"

"Yes! How did you know?"

Iskall snorted. "Well, for one you're heavily blushing, and two, you have your love sick face on."

Stress brought her hands to her face, as if that would make the blush and expression. "I do not!"

"Oh don't deny it! You totally do." He looked at her seriously. "Look, you need to tell him. I can tell he loves, even Mumbo can! So stop looking lovesick here and go do it whilst cuddling Grian instead!"

"Later." Deflected Stress, thankful for having a good excuse for not doing it now. "Grian is finally sleeping and I'm not going to bother him when he's sleeping! And look, he's getting along well with his Pidgeot already!" She thrusted her phone forward where she half brought said picture up.

Iskall sucked in a breath, because Grian looked really cute like that, you'd have to be blind not to think so. "Are you going to share it in the "Get G a 'mon" group chat? I'm sure the others would like to see it."

Stress looked a bit reluctant, she kind of wanted to keep it all for herself, but she eventually let in and sent it.

Her sentiment of Grian's cuteness was shared by everyone else, and they were happy that he and Pidgeot got along well.

Stress would get her act together eventually, just not today. But don't worry, she'll get her man in the end.

<I really like Gress now. I really like all Grian ships tbh. Anyways, I revealed my new Watcher design (even though I've already done so before) and here it is again!

Beautiful isn't he? So yeah, this is the Watchers design from now on!

Stay safe and have a wonderful time everyone!>
