The Swed and the Brit
Iskall remembers clearer then a cloud free day the day he meet Xelqua.
He was nine when it happened, back when his name still was Viktor.
He had gotten lost and stumbled upon a hidden portal leading to the floating islands.
Being the excited little boy that he was, Viktor got to exploring. But unfortunately the island he had landed on was small and had no water source that safely led to another island, so he decided to call it quits and head back home.
But when he went back to the portal it was completely gone, any traces of it gone. But Viktor didn't panic, maybe he just looked in the wrong place? After an hour of looking he concluded that the portal had been destroyed, and he was stuck.
As the message sunk into his nine year old body he started crying, how would he get back home? Was he stuck forever?
As his sobbing grew in volume, Viktor failed to notice the giant creature that had landed behind him until it's hot breath landed on his cheeks.
Looking up he almost screamed when he caught site of the thing in front of him, it was easily 6 meters tall from head to toe. It's head kinda resembled that of an Ender dragon but elongated, it had hair that looked like a sparkling red galaxy, and the creature itself was brown and red in color.
Viktor didn't know what to do, should he run or stay? His body, without Viktor noticing, made him sit down to process everything.
And he was only broken out of his trance by a voice, "Are you lost little one?"
He whipped his head in all directions trying to locate the source of the voice, but when he didn't see anyone he turned back to the beast before him, "Did you say that?" His English was horribly broken, but he didn't want to anger this creature by telling it that.
"I did. And please, do speak your own language, little one. That way we can have a proper conversation. And do not worry, I'll still be able to understand you"
Viktor let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, that would make all of this easier, (prepared to translate ;3) "Tack så mycket! Uhh, vad är dit namn?"
The creature laid down in a more comfortable position then the one it was in before, "No problem, little one. I go by many names, but you may call me Xelqua. And what shall I call you?"
Xelqua's tone was kind and friendly, so Viktor already liked him. Plus he had such a cool name! He wished he had such a cool name in the future, "Dit namn är så coolt! Jag önskar att jag hade ett så coolt namn som dig! Och mitt namn är Viktor"
Xelqua chuckled lightly, "You'll just have to wait till your thirteen then, the you can change it as much as you like. And I'm sure you'll get a better name then mine, mines actually quite silly if you think about it"
"Hur så? Och hur kan jag förstå dig? Du pratade ju engelska för och nu pratar du svenska, men det låter inte som on du har byt språk? Hur?"
"My name means 'Little bird that fly' nothing cool about it at all! And the thing about you understanding me? It's quite simple, I'm changing in what language you hear me in"
"Du kan gör a det? Hur?"
"Well, you see I don't have a proper vocal box so instead speak telepathically. Meaning you hear me through your mind instead of through your ears, so I can change what language your mind hears me speak"
The small kid was amazed by this, that was so cool! "Wow! Så du kan få det så jag hör tyska istället?"
"I could" Xelqua leaned in closer here, "But the question is, would you understand it?"
When the brunette didn't answer the creature gave a small huff in a victory, the Swed couldn't but he would have tried no doubt.
Viktor suddenly yawned, but he then immediately slammed his small hands over his mouth. Looking up he hoped Xelqua didn't see, but judging from slight movement of the creatures chest he could see that he'd seen and was now quietly laughing at him.
His cheeks quickly flushed a deep crimson red has he now covered his entire face with his hands, but the gentle nudging of a really large red claw made him look up at Xel again.
"We need to leave, little one, mobs will start spawning soon and I want to get back to my den with as little disturbance as possible" as he was speaking Xel was grabbing Viktor and putting him on his furred back, "You good up there?"
The nine year old quickly clutched onto Xelqua's sparkling red hair, "Ja!"
"Good! Hold on tight, and don't loosen your grip until I tell you you can!"
Xelqua unfolded his enormous wings and took a running start, flapping his wings to give them an easier time flying. As they reached the edge Xelqua launched himself, plus his small passenger, into the air. And soon the two where gliding along the islands. Not that Viktor noticed the islands, he was more fixated on the sunset. How the reds and oranges bleed out from the sky and let the blues and purples take over the sky, how the moon was rising and how the stars followed it up, blinking into existence in a striking pattern. The darkness only served to make him notice even more when a light appeared up ahead, Viktor guessed that that was Xel's den.
He was proven right when his giant friend landed at the opening of the cave, bleeding light from its opening. He waited to be let down but that never happened, "Uh, Xel? Kan du låta mig hoppa av?"
"No, not now. You wouldn't be able to make it if you went on foot"
Viktor sat quite after that, partly because he was tired and partly because he had nothing else to say.
As they moved father into the cave the more handmade it started to look, but it looked hand made in the sense that it still fit but didn't look naturally generated.
"Har du byggt allt det här?"
"Well I'm made most of it, the cave itself was dugout with major help from a friend of mine. I probably wouldn't be living here if he hadn't helped me"
"Vart är din vän nu?"
"I honestly don't know, but I do know he's somewhere out there. And who knows? You might meet him someday?"
"Om jag ska mötta honom, då måste jag veta vad han heter!"
"His name is Taurlactur, but I believe he choose the name 'Taurtis' for when he was in his human form"
"Taurtis! Jag ska komma ihåg det!"
"Good, I'd hate to have to come remind you!" Said Xelqua as he finally let Viktor down, and as the child looked around he could see why his new friend liked it here.
It was open and had lots of room, and the handmade spikes where placed in such a way that they weren't in the way of anything. He stumbled when he spotted two holes that where filled in with lime green stained glass with a light source at the bottom, giving it a foggy look.
He was so mesmerized by it that he didn't notice when Xelqua sat down besides him before he spoke up, "Do you like it?"
"Ja! Hur gjorde du det här?"
"Simple, I but glowstone covered by a lime green carpet on the bottom and then every other layer I but down the glass. You can of course do this without the glowstone, but I like the light it gives off"
"Det är så fint!"
Viktor was about to talk again but the feeling some splatting up against his back distracted him, turning to look behind him he was meet with the sight of about 6 small slimes bouncing up against his back. He shrieked and ran to his behind Xelqua's back foot, but Xel just simply pushed him back towards the slimes.
"Föröder!"
Viktor braced himself to be hurt by the small mobs, but when he opened his eyes to look at them again all they were doing was harmlessly bounce up against him, one had even gotten into his lap!
He brought the slime in his lap up to his face, he giggled when the tiny mob bounced the top of its "head" against the boys nose. Viktor was only brought back to reality when a blanket was draped over him, looking up he saw a figure that looked like Xelqua but more humanoid and a hole lotta shorter.
"Xel?" Asked the brunette, wanting to make sure it was his friend in front of him and not some stranger.
"The one and only" spoke Xelqua, smiling down at his human friend.
"Wow! Du kan prata som vanligt i den här formen!" Exclaimed the green eyed boy.
"I'm afraid not," chuckled Xelqua, "I'm still speaking in the same way as before m, I'm only pretending to speak with my mouth to not startle anyone"
"Den här formen är fortfarande cool! Eftersom jag kan göra det här!" Said Viktor as he gently set down his new slime friend and hugged his other friend, not that he reached far up on his friend. Xel was still over two meters tall and Viktor barely reached over his legs. So to help Xelqua reached down and brought the smaller into a bear hug.
He even started swinging the boy from side to side, and soon the entire cave was filled with laughter.
But Viktor soon grew tired, so Xel decided to buy him to bed. Of course Viktor's new slime friend bounced along, not wanting to leave its new buddy alone.
"Kan jag ha Iskallium med mig i sängen?" Asked the boy as he was tucked in under the red blanket.
"Iskallium? Do you mean the slime?" A nod to confirm that was what he meant, "I wish but I'm afraid you might roll over and crush him. But!" Interjected Xel as he saw the boys fave fall, "I might have a way for you to bring your new friend with you were ever you want"
He went over to one of the chests that where scattered around the room and pulled out a small cage like thing, moving back over to the bad he showed Viktor how to use it, "Press the red button in the top and the press the bottom part of the cage on the mob you wish to keep in it, and then press the button again and push the bottom to a empty surface to release the mob again"
Viktor tried it on Iskallium a few times to make sure it worked before bringing the slime into it one last time before putting it in his inventory, "Tack så mycket för hjälpen, Xel"
"No problem, Iskall"
Viktor got a confused look on his face, "Varför kallade du mig Iskall?"
Xelqua had this face that said 'How don't you know?' Until something seemed to hit him and he shook his head, "I forgot so few knew that 'Ium' means child on our language!"
"Vänta, verkligen?" After a nod to confirm this from Xel he continued, "Så jag kallade mitt slime för Iskall barn? Nu ser jag"
"I can stop calling you that if you wish?"
"Det behövs inte! Jag tycker om det! Jag tänker till och med bytta mitt namn till det när jag blir tretton!"
"Well alright! But you may change your mind, Iskall. Nothing's set in stone just yet. Now go to sleep, we have a long flight ahead of use if we want to get you back to your family"
"Hur ska vi göra det? Portalen är ju borta"
"The portal you used may be gone, but the Hub portal in the Goldensky temple is still there"
"Jag trodde man bara kunde komma till Hub med speciella apparater som man får när man är tretton?"
"That may be true, but in every main word for every biom there is always a Hub portal. The portals can't be destroyed so they've survived since the dawn of time. Now if robbed with you mister! We're leaving early so I recommend you get songs sleep!"
"Ok! Ok, jag går och lägger mig. Godnatt Xel"
"Goodnight, Iskall"
It was only a few minutes before the brunette was asleep, turning back to his normal form he flew out of the cave and landed on the island above.
There he was meet with a creature that looked like him, but instead of brown and red this one was brown and blue. It also had two sets of ears and a pair of leather wings to Xelqua's feathered ones.
"Why have you called me, sisters?" She didn't answer, only glared, "Willova. What. Do. You. Want?"
"You and I both know what I want!" She hissed, "Do you have any idea what has happened?!"
"I helped a human child?"
"You two are now soulmates! Bound to be together for life! Brother he's only a child! And your 10 millennia old! How do you think he'll react when he finds out?"
Xelqua huffed, he knew very well what he had done. And he didn't regret a bit of it. Everything would turn out fine if he let Iskall grow up without him near. They'd meet sometime in the future, they were destined to! And he told Willova as much.
"Still! What if he rejects you? What if the soulmate bond breaks?!"
"You worry all to much sister! I'll be fine. Plus, soulmate bonds never break unless one of them die"
She huffed out a breath in defeat, "I suppose your right. Just be careful alright?"
"I will be"
"So how will you tell him your player name, but still not tell him it?"
"Maybe wheat!"
"Wha- Ohh. Clever"
"I know! My name sounds kinda like grain so I thought it would fit!"
Iskall awoke with a start (when had he fallen asleep?), what was that? He remembers everything up to the point in which Xelqua went up to talk to the other Arshur (he had done his research after he got back, on both the species of his friend, soulmate, and the strange tattoo on his chest. And like his dream, vision?, said it was a soulmate mark). Did he, dis he see from the point of Xelqua? Holy cow he did!
Iskall remembers Xel telling him the wheat thing, but he never got it. But now that he knows the word is close to grain he mi- wait a minute, no. It can't be!
"Grian? Grian's Xelqua?"
Holy- 2,5k words?! That's the best yet! And I'm so proud of this chapter!
I might upload a chapter on Arshurs on my "Lessons with Indom" book! So look forward to that! But I believe that's all for now!
