Feral
Everyone on the Hermitcraft server were startled when the world around them started to shift, buildings appearing and then disappearing. And a sudden thunder storm didn't help either.
Xisuma decided to call a server wide meeting, but Grian didn't show up.
And when they tried calling him all they got was static, which worried Ren greatly. Everyone else where confused, but one had a different reaction.
Wels, being a half-elf, could sense the magic around him. And currently he could see and feel the ancient Watcher magic, twisting and turning. But that wasn't the strangest thing, far from it. The thing was that there was not just one Watcher, but three of them. The most prominent one felt like a gentle breeze that could pickup in speed at any moment, the second one felt more like a crackling fire that kept you warm and was still fierce at the same time, the last one was felt like a gentle sea current inviting you to bask in the calm of the water.
Quickly piecing things together, he figured out that the breeze was Grian. But who were the other two?
Scanning everyone gathered, he saw that TFC was glancing in the direction of Grian's base every time thunder cracked.
The knight discreetly made his way over to the vault crawler, he seemed to know more than he let on.
But before he had a chance to speak EX was thrown to the ground from the sky, luckily Cleo managed to catch him before he hit the ground. He seemed a bit ruffed up, but mostly ok.
"EX? What's going on?" asked Xisuma, both worried for his twin and curious on what was going on.
EX took a few deep breaths before answering, "Th-that idiot forgot to let his true form out, and-" he interrupted himself by coughing before continuing, "-and now he's gone feral! I tried to help but he's far to powerful!"
The group looked at each other with worry, they had a hunch who he was but they hoped it wasn't who they thought it was.
It was Zed who had the courage to ask, "Who is he?"
EX looked up at the blonde before looking him straight in the eyes (his helmet had been knocked off in the fall) as he answered, "Grian, Grian has gone feral"
X whispered a quiet 'Oh dear' as the other hermits tried to get to higher ground, to see if they could see what was going on. The sight that greeted them was quite shocking, and even the most stoic of hermits had there jaws on the floor.
What they saw could only be described as a battle of the titans. There were three dragons circling the statue of hermity, the smallest seemed to be more aggressive and careless while the other two looked to be working together to bring down the smaller dragon.
The first dragon was nothing but a brown blur as it ducked and weaved in and around the statue, the wind blowing in sync with the beating of its giant wings. The second one stayed closer to the water, it's muddy blue/green scales dripping with seawater. The third one was taking a more hands on (claws on?) approach and was blowing red hot fire at the brown dragon, the flames licking the sides of it's deep marrón face scales.
Off to the side they heard someone loudly gasped, turning, they saw Joe look at the dragons with recognition in his eyes.
"Those aren't normal dragons" was the first thing he uttered after looking at the fight for a few more seconds.
Everyone was confused by this, those things were clearly dragons.
Mumbo was the one who asked the question, "Then what are they?"
"There Elyqins, rulers of the End cities"
Many had heard stories about the Elyqins, how to any player it was a quick death. But they were thought to have died out years ago. Looks like there more alive than previously thought.
It was now that what EX said caught up to Doc, "Wait, didn't EX say one of those three were Grian?"
Before anyone had time to respond something crashed into the building right in front of them. And said thing was the brown Elyqin. Now that they looked, it was clear as day that this was Grian. From color and shape of his wings, to the way he seemed to almost unconsciously try rebuilding the building he destroyed, and his small size might of also given it away.
He only turned to them when Scar stepped on a branch that had gotten on the roof. For a few heartbeats Grian just stood there observing them.
Then he caught sight of Wels, and suddenly he was growling up a storm. No, really! The storm was growing as he started growling. "You can't cage me! I'm the master of the skies, and I won't bow to you!"
No one understood the weird language that came out of Grian's snout, it didn't sound like any animal noise they'd ever heard, yet it didn't sound like a real language either.
"Silence you fool! He is a friend, not the enemy!" The other two Elyqins had now arrived at the ground. It was the muddy one who had talked, speaking the same weird language as Grian had.
The Elyqin builder growled, feathers puffing in a show of dominance, "But he is! He is a dragon rider! His brethren tried keeping use caged before, I won't let him be the one that succeeds!"
The marrón Elyqin hissed at his words, "Your minds corrupt! The elf is no threat! He is a friend of yours, your just to caught up in your rage to realize!"
The group of hermits had slowly been backing away from the fight, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.
All but one hermit backed down, Ren didn't back down. He walked in between the arguing draconi and stopped right in front of Grian. All movement froze as the wolf stood his ground.
Everything was still until the feral hermit took a step closer to Ren, his wind filled breaths hitting the long haired brunette in the face. Instead of running, Ren simply rested his forehead against Grian's. The great dragon seemed to relax instantly, and he seemed to nuzzle closer. Ren started to whisper things to Grian, but they were far enough away so the other hermits didn't hear him. But judging by the two other Elyqins happy looking movements it must of been something good.
It was only a few seconds later that Grian turned back to human, and the first thing he did was pull Ren down in a sloppy but sweet kiss. It took a while for all of this to process in the others minds, but soon they were showering the couple with compliments.
The two quickly looked up, seemingly having forgotten anyone else was there. A look of fear entered Grian's eyes as he saw the others, but a kiss and a few encouraging words from his lover made the look go away.
As the new couple started making their way over to their friends, Grian unexpectedly fell unconscious. The two Elyqins hurriedly made their way over, returning to their normal forms.
The blonde swiftly determined that he was just exhausted, mentally, physically and magically.
Ren just smiled, as long as Grian was fine all was well. Taking the dirty blonde in his arms he headed over to Sahara, the others following closely behind.
As soon as they got to the main lobby the world shifted again, but this time it was controlled and minor. A figure stepped out of thin air. They were wearing a kimono like dress, but it looked more like the uniforms the two Watchers were donning. On there head rested a golden circlet, an enchanted glow was circling it, showing it was more than just a decoration. Judging by appearances, the gender was unclear. But the striking bronze eyes and wavy platinum hair made for quite a striking image, the chiseled cheekbones and thin brows didn't deter the thought either.
The two Watchers immediately got on one knee and bowed, TFC and EX, who had both heard stories about this person also got on one knee.
The messy haired Watcher was the one who spoke, "High leader Bronzay. What brings you here?"
Bronzay didn't say a word, they just simply gestured at the sleeping form of Grian with a raised eyebrow.
The brunette spoke up here, "It was fixed by-" here she motioned to Ren "-him"
The high leader looked over at the wolf before nodding to the brunette, they then started making their way over to Grian and Ren.
Ren growled at the approaching figure, bending over to protect Grian from the possible threat. Bronzay was not deterred by the obvious signs of aggression and calmly made their way towards the new couple.
They stopped a respectable two meters away from them and looked into Ren's eyes, and he glared back. As they keep eye contact, the wolf's glare lessened until it was no more.
The others watched on in confusion as the two seemed to have a conversation without talking or using any sort of body language. Well, everyone except Wels, he could see the strings going from the Watchers head to Ren's.
After about three minutes of communicating the brunette visibly nodded his head, Bronzay doing the same, but it was more to themselves then to Ren.
With a snap of their fingers a quill and paper appeared in their hand, once they finished writing they sent it on its way. Turning to the two Watchers they signed some things none of the hermits except Joe couldn't understand.
He froze, looked thoughtful for a moment before speaking to the gathered Watchers, "I didn't know you Elyqins could have siblings"
"Well now you know" said the dark skinned one, sharp teeth showing through his grin.
Joe was about to speak but before he could say anything the world shifted for a third time, and the Nether portal started flickering. After about ten seconds the purple portal turned green and two figures walked out.
The first to walk out was a girl that kind of resembled the messy haired Watcher but with darker and straighter (yet a bit wavy) hair. On her head was a gold crown, and her eyes where black with pale slits and she also had two cat ears. On her back rested two huge brown leather wings and dragging on the floor was a long brown fluffy tail. Her demeanor was calm, yet cautious, like she didn't know if she was allowed there or not. The second girl was a wolf hybrid who had brightly colored wings and pink hair. She seemed to be looking for someone, scanning the crowd of gathered players. Both where wearing the Watcher uniform.
The wolf frowned, seemingly not finding what she was looking for. Looking up at the balcony of the lobby she got a glint in her eyes, and before the other girl could stop her (like it looked like she was trying to do) the wolf girl flew up, and fast. Instead of getting to the balcony smoothly like she obviously was trying to do, she hit her head head on the ceiling before getting to the balcony.
The cat girls face was the perfect embodiment of 'Really?' Her ear twitching in slight amusement at her companions flying misfortune.
The girl then spoke up, "Hey, Amber?", from her perch the pink haired girl hummed in acknowledgment, "If you're looking for the kit try finding the protective wolf and I think you'll be pretty close"
At the mention of, what he assumed to be him Ren growled deeply, curling more around Grian to shield the, now waking, hermit from the outside world. He may of agreed to let them do there stuff to help Grian, but he didn't agree to not being aggressive.
As Ren was going to tell this foreign wolf to back away from his mate the sound of purring stopped him. Everyone in the room turned to the now half awake/half asleep Grian who was the one behind the purring. The builder had latched himself up against Ren's left side and was now nuzzling his nose up against the side of his lovers neck.
This distracted the brunette long enough so that the cat hybrid could sneak up behind him, and before he knew it a pair of arms, and a tail, had wrapped around him and pulled him away from Grian.
Ren obviously didn't like this and started thrashing in the girls grip, only for her to tighten her grip. And while the overprotective wolf was distracted the pink haired wolf walked over to Grian and was trying to make him drink a potion she had with her, but the dirty blonde decided to be a stubborn piece of shit and refuse to take the potion and simply said, "No."
"Grian I swear to the high order I will drown you with this if you don't drink it this second you stubborn child!"
It was now that the strength potion that the brunette girl had drank (did you really think anyone could hold back a protective Ren without a potion?) wore of and Ren broke free. He took multiple steps forward before addressing the other wolf directly, "You touch him and your dead"
The girl looked him straight in the eye and said, "Try me"
And Ren, being the overprotective wolf and fulltime idiot, immediately pounced on the perceived threat. Only to get tackled back, and he was picked up and slung over the girls shoulder like a sack of potatoes, "Now to dispose of this."
Ren was then promptly yeeted through the nearest window. "Amber, what the hell!" Grian yelled.
"What? He was being a nuisance." She shrugged nonchalantly.
"You just threw my boyfriend through a window! He doesn't even have an elytra on!"
"Pretty sure he'll be fine. If not he'll just respawn."
Renthedog hit the ground too hard.
Grian facepalmed, "Amber you can't just Yeet everyone who gives you problems." Grian scolded. "Why not? It worked with Ind." Amber glared at Grian.
Grian glared back as he said, "It worked with her, but you've known her for years. And Ren is a complete stranger to you!"
"So? He tried to attack me! Whatever, just drink the damn potion."
Grian reluctantly drank the potion, face screwing up in disguised at the horrid taste of the colored liquid. But after awhile his face return to glaring at Amber.
He lost said glare when the cat girl bent down to give him a hug, the builder leaning into the touch. The pinkhead tried to join them but the brunette motion to the barely visible pile of stuff that was left by Ren when he fell.
Amber reluctantly went out to retrieve the other wolf hybrids stuff, and by the time she want back in said wolf had returned and taken the cat hybrids spot for cuddling with Grian. She dumped his items in a chest near the bed.
The cat hybrid was now talking with Joe and the other Watchers, and once she noticed that Amber was back she waved goodbye to the group and made her way over to the other Watcher and grabbed her hand.
Amber raised an eyebrow in confusion as she was dragged to the Nether portal, that was still green, by the shorter girl. She didn't complain and simply just followed, waving her own goodbyes as they left. She was nearly through the portal when she shouted "I hope we yeet again, Ren!" And with that they were gone, the portal returning back to it's normal purple color.
"God, she's a handful. How does Indom do it?" questions Garleth, an amused smirk pulling at his lips.
Ind shook her head as she answered, "As if I know, she might be my sister but she is by no means readable. Especially since she's such a good actor, and a damn fine liar too, I never know when she's telling the truth or lying"
"Well, hopefully we won't meet for a while!" commented Ren, referring to Amber.
Before either of the Watchers had time to reply Bronzay tapped them both on the shoulders, and when they had their attention they motioned to their wrist and then at the portal. 'Time to leave'
"Aww, already?" pouted Garleth, only to then be promptly be smacked in the back of his head by his companion, "Ind!"
The girl just narrowed her eyes at the blonde, and reluctantly they both moved to the portal. And as they were waving goodbye Garleth shouted, "Also! Wolf if you break my boy's heart you'll be nothing but a fleck in the endless void! Remember that!"
Soon after them the last Watcher also left, though they left in a more civilized manner. Only stopping to hand both Ren and Joe a note each, and the left without even touching the portal.
"What. The. Fuck," asked Doc, a gomsmacked exspresion on his face, "What was that?"
"That was High leader Bronzay, Garleth, Ind, Indom and Amber. Colleagues of mine you could say, but Bronzay is more my boss then anything. And kinda like my unofficial guardian, but I never asked them about that" said Grian, in an annoyed yet fond tone of voice.
"Weren't Garleth and Ind the two Watchers from your old world, Evo?" asked EX, most jumping since they forgot he was even here.
"They are," smiled the builder, "Their also the ones who made me a Watcher!"
"Ok, let's ignore what that implies and move on to what the notes that Ren and Joe got says" said Tango, already trying to sneak a look at Joe's note. Said person having opened his note to look, only to close it when the half demon tried to sneak a peek.
Ren carefully opened his note and read it, his eyes widening more and more as he read on. And as he finished the note his entire face was an art piece of shock, but he quickly snapped out of it to delicately kiss Grian. Said man was a bit shocked at the sudden kiss, but he didn't mind and simply melted into it. And when they broke apart Ren whispered something in his partners ear, and Grian's face was soon also painted with shock. The shorter whispered a "Really?" (Not that anyone heard it, but Doc could read lips so he forwarded his findings to the group), and Ren nodded in confirmation, a large grin spread across his face. So that coupled with Grian's grin of pure joy something good must have been on the note.
Now curious on what was written on his own note, Joe opened it again. It read as follows:
"Dear Mr. Hills
I have heard quite a bit about you, how you have a skill for the fine arts of literature. So since you have proven yourself as a capable man of wit and wisdom I have decided to gift you with the five books of Vallaqua'na, or as you might know them: The five books of the Red War. And if you for some reason don't know what these are, let me refresh you. They are the books written by the five kings of the five mountains during the Red war, and they detailed the happenings of the war from each king's perspective.
The books will be in your mailbox.
I hope you use this gift well and that you enjoy it, and I hope that you and your friends have a continued prosperfull life.
-High leader Bronzay of the Watchers
(P.S. My brother may come by later tonight, so if two of you feel a strong and dominant presence there's no need to worry. He's only here to see how Grian is fairing, the big softy, and not here to smite the two of them for disappointing him. Which they haven't, he's actually quite proud of how much proffit and how good pranks they make)"
At the mention of the five books Joe's mouth watered, those books were super rare! Only four copies having been made of them, and at least one copy of each book having been destroyed. And he had access to all five!
As the poet was salivating over the new books, that he had yet to even see mind you, Tango also read the note though he was mostly confused by it. That's until he realised who the two people who were being talked about, and then a wide grin spread across his face. Oh, this was gonna be good.
And he was right, it was good when Vexaldion (That is the elder Vex that Cub and Scar worship) arrived and both Vex's nearly jumped out of their own skin in fright, and Tango was sure he could hear Scar begging for mercy and that "He and Cub promised to do more pranks just give them more time!" Aka perfect blackmail material!
(Joe did tell them what was written on the letter later, and they calmed down. And then promptly went on a man hunt of tango because no one could have blackmail on the ConVex except the ConVex!)
But unbeknownst to any of the drama was Grian and Ren who were simply enjoying each others company as they sat atop Grian's base, giving them the perfect view of the setting sun over the ocean.
"You know, I never imagined this at the start of today" commented Ren softly, head gently resting atop Grian's own.
"I don't think anyone could have imagined this today" added Grian, snuggling more into Ren's side, "But I'm glad it turned out like this"
A comfortable silence washed over the two as the sun disappeared over the horizon and stars sparked to life, making the calm waves shimmer and sparkle in the pale moonlight.
"Did she really mean that?" asked Ren, uncertainty coloring his voice.
"Did who really mean what?" asked Grian, a bit lost on what his boyfriend was trying to ask.
"The note I was given, the one written by that girl Indom. Did she really mean all of what she said? Or did she lie to make me and you feel better?"
"Indom may lie about things, but she never lies about love. She did mean all of which she wrote. And even tho I'm positive she got some form of help with some of the things she wrote she did, I'm still positive she did all of that"
"She did all of that, just to tell me that we have a minor soulmate bond? I don't think anyone in their right mind would do that!"
"Heh, well Indom is far from normal that's for sure. But I guess so are we, so who are we to judge?"
Ren didn't reply, and simply just brought the smaller closer to himself. Who knew all it took for him to confess his feelings for Grian was for said person to try and kill him?
Well, that doesn't matter now, all that matters is Grian. And that was something everyone could agree on.
Longest one yet everyone! Woo! What a ride this has been! An idea that was created early on finally finished, and boy was it worth the wait! I'm really happy how it turned out! There probably won't be any more parts to this particular storyline since there's nothing else to add. So sorry if you were interested in more parts of this, it probably won't happen.
Surprise mothertruckers, I'm here now. What up, it's me, Amberangle965 and bold italics is officially what marks me as me. I edited and co-wrote part of this fic, as Amber is my oc. And I might be making more appearances in the future, so look out. I hope you enjoyed this fic that we did, as I'm preeetty sure it's the longest fic at 3,878 words. Anyways, see you around!
It is the longest! The closest I think was only around 2,5k or something? Not sure. Anyways! This is the end of this one! And I'd look out sharp, since part 2 and 3 of TRMAS will be going up soon!
