Entangled
<I found this when I was looking through some old fics that I never finished. I like this one so much that I decide to finished it. Also this was made last summer, so this is set some short time after the Civil war.
This is obviously an AU, but it has no real name nor am I sure I'll ever make more for it. That's all, enjoy!>
Grian enjoyed swimming around his base, seeing all his work from ground was a nice contrast to the usual aerial view. Plus the water was calming to be in, with fish swimming around and the usual clearnes of the water of the Hermitcraft server made it all just so much more breathtaking.
And per usual he was circling his base again admiring the work he'd done, when suddenly he saw something at the sea floor. It wasn't emmeting a glow so it wasn't a sea pickle or a sea lantern, and it didn't look like any form of sea life (Plant or mob) that he'd ever seen before. Swimming closer he didn't notice a drowned sneaking up on him before it started pulling and clawing at his skin, and in a panic he kicked the water living mob. He successfully freed himself and all that was on his mind was to get away, he wasn't looking where he was going and he could care less,
But even with his best efforts he couldn't get the drowning of his tail (He didn't have anything in his inventory that would be of much help), seeing a large patch of kelp he swam faster. But entering the kelp might have been the worst decision he could make.
As soon as he entered the kelp the drowned lost track of him and Grian let a relieved sigh part from his lips. Only to notice with horror that the conduits power did not reach him anymore, and as he was swimming up he was trapped by a coral that he hadn't seen before. Looking back at where he was stuck he saw that his hand foot was stuck in a little hole in the coral, and it had properly enclosed around his foot making it impossible to escape.
He was quickly losing air and everything only got worse when his hand got tangled in a kelp vine. And just to add insult to injury a trident hit him in the chest from the surface, and looking up he vaguely saw two figures.
The first had his hand raised so Grian guessed that was the person who hit him, and the other just stood to the side.
Grian was panicking even more now, because holy crap two of the hermits wanted to kill him. (They didn't actually know he was there, but he didn't know that) With his last gasp of breath Grian avoided the trident, but he also started to drown quickly losing health.
And then he felt nothing.
Then the chat showed something that would scare anyone reading it.
<Xisumavoid> There is a coruption in the server file, and the server will be turned to Hardcore in a few seconds. So just stay out of harm's way while I fix it
Grian drowned while trying to escaping from Docm77 and GoodTimesWithScar
Scar and Doc both stood shocked, had they killed Grian? No, they couldn't have! Plus X said Hardcore would activate in a few seconds so Grian should be fine! But when a torn piece of super bloody (Judging by how the water was turning red where it traveled) red sweater floated up, they had second thoughts.
The two looked at each other, both fearing that they had killed Grian. They were interrupted from their brooding when another message appeared in chat.
<Xisumavoid> Meeting at Sahara. Now.
They both reluctantly made their way to the giant store, guilt swarming over them in waves.
As they got close to the courtyard an arrow was shot in between the two of them, and looking to the ground they saw Tango with a bow raised and aimed at them, ready to fire again but Ren and Cub held him back before he could.
When the two guilt ridden hermits landed they could see that Tango was now crying and screaming.
"LET ME GO! THEY KILLED HIM, THEY KILLED HIM AND YOUR LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT!"
Zedaph and Impulse were now trying to calm down the enraged half-demon, "Tango, please, calm down. I'm sure they didn't mean to do it. And maybe Grian's still alive? His death message appeared milliseconds after X sent out the warning so he could still be alive."
"AND WHAT IF HE DOESN'T, HUH?! WHAT IF GRIAN ISN'T COMING BACK?!" Here Tango took a shaky breath before continuing in a low voice, "I loved him with all of my heart. And now he might be dead, and I never got to tell him how I felt." his voice was barely a whisper by the end, voice sounding broken.
The Hermits just stood around after the blondes outburst, no one really sure what to do.
"How about we all search for Grian? Look at places he might have spanned at and go from there." Suggested Wels, "And, though I find it unlikely he has it on him, maybe X could try tracking Grian's communicator?"
A mummer of agreement spread among the gathered Hermits, Tango the most determined by a long shot.
"Then it's set. We split up and look in different places! Convex, you search the Civil war area, Architechs you look at Sahara, ZIT look through his base, girls check through the shopping district." Commanded Xisuma, determined to find the dirty blond, "Doc stay with me, everyone else search the island."
Team ZIT were the first to leave, well, Tango was and the other two hurried after him. They reached Grian's base quickly since it was so close, but Impulse still had to remind his demon friend that they were still in hardcore.
They landed at the bottom layer, and no one was there. They took the water elevator up to the next layer, the one with the weird mustache remover, and once again nothing. Tango was growing both frustrated and worried as they moved up the layers. When they reached the third layer a strange smell came over the blond, it kind of smelled like the sea. But it wasn't strong, so the smell wasn't from this layer. But it also wasn't from the one they were just on, which meant it was in the one above.
"Wait here." Said Tango, not waiting for the other two to reply before flying up. He wasn't ready for what he saw.
Sitting in a puddle under one of the trees was what Cleo would look like as a drowned who also happened to be Grian, aka a drowned Grian sitting in a puddle under a tree.
"Grian?" Whispered the half demon, horrified at what he was seeing.
At the sound of his voice Grian spun around, revealing more damage. His chest was broken up on the right side and horribly stitched back together, his face looked to be split directly and two with one side being darker then the other. His violet eyes were the same except for the fact that his sclera was black. "Ta-Tango!"
The blonde took a stop towards his now undead crush, falling to his knees as he looked Grian over properly, "My god, what happened to you?"
"I don't know!" Cried Grian, throwing himself in Tango's arms, "I was just fleeing from a drowned when I got stuck, and then two Hermits attacked me with a trident and killed me."
Tango whispered soothing words to the distressed dirty blond, trying to calm him, "Shhh, calm down. I'm sure they didn't see it was, it must of all just been a huge misunderstanding."
Grian just cried harder, "That doesn't change that I'm a fucking drowned Tango! I'll never be normal again, I'll never be me again."
The demon scoffed at that, "Right, as if how you look made me love you." He covered his mouth right after he said tha last few words, praying that Grian would be too distressed to hear or register them properly.
But it wasn't like that, and the small Hermit had heard it all, if his wide eyes were anything to go by.
"Forget that I said anything!" Rushed the blonde quickly, "It was meant to be completely, one hundred precent, platong! So don't mind what I just said, because it's complet bu-"
He was interrupted by a pair of cold lips kissing him. He was being kissed, and since it was only him and Grian up here, that ment that it was Grian who was kissing him. HOLY FUCK GRIAN WAS KISSING HIM.
He kissed the dirty blonde gently, wanting his first (of hopefully many) kisses with Grian to be sweet and caring. The kiss lasted for only a few seconds, but it felt like a wonderful life time to the two.
"I love you too." Whispered Grian, forehead pressed against Tango's own.
Tango was about the reply when Impulse and Zedaph flew in through the hole, ruining the wonderful moment.
As soon as they saw the close and intimate position the two were on they grew sheepish, "Bad timing?" Asked Zed, scratching at the back of his head.
"Atrocious is more like it." Mumbled Grian, huffing out an annoyed breath and burrowing himself into Tango's side.
"Ok, new couple thing aside. What the hell happened to you Grian?"
And so he explained it all again, and by the end Impulse was looking at Tango impressed, "I'm surprised you haven't gone on a rampage and killed Scar and Doc already."
"I know how to pick my battles."
Zedaph looked up at the sky before turning to his friends, "We better hurry to Sahara before it gets dark, we're still on hardcore afterall."
The other agreed with him and headed back to Sahara, though Grian chose to ride on Tango's back instead of flying there himself.
Once there Grian was bombarded with questions by the other Hermits, most about his new appearance. Cleo pushed herself through her servermates and walked up to him, "Welcome to the world of the undead, Grian. If you have any questions, feel free to just ask."
The dirty blonde nodded at the ginger before he was wrapped in a tight hug by Scar.
The hat wearing Vex apologized profusely, saying how they had no clue that it had been a Hermit and not a drowned. Doc did much the same, but less Scar-like and more Doc-style, but he still apologized.
The rest of the day, and night, was spent talking and chatting. Though X instead worked on fixing it so that they were out of hardcore, which he managed to do before morning.
Things pretty much returned to normal after that. But Grian swam places more often, and he had a boyfriend who he loved and who loved him back.
So all in all? The day was a solid six and a half.
<I have nothing to say except that I really like my Drowned!Grian concept. Ok now I really want to go to bed, so have a wonderful time everyone!>
