Special - AU part 1
(So I kinda went all out with this one... I don't think the characters fit, but I wanted to use vex magic and disability in this one... looking back on it, I really hate it. I also tried to publish this after I finished part 2 for some reason but I changed my mind...)
Warning - Human Trafficking
Scar's POV
I love going outside and breathing the delightfully fresh air, honestly. But I rarely do so because of the kids. Did I mention how rude the kids are? No? Well, let me tell you.
They have no manners, no empathy, and no morals. They beat up people that can't fight back, and laugh at their pain. God, I hate the children. Especially because I'm the one who can't fight back. So when my brother suggested to take me outside for a bit? Yeah, no. Except that I didn't really have a choice. I sometimes hate being disabled.
Anyway, my brother took me outside and drove me downtown- which was the worst idea ever. Except that maybe- no, no spoilers. So my brother was pushing me up the slanted sidewalk when the kids came running by. The stole my wheelchair from my brother's grasp and flung me and the wheelchair down the slope.
Can I take a moment to ask who's idea it was to build a slanted road next to a river with no railings? Like, what kind of planning is that?
So, my wheelchair was sliding down, and I couldn't control it. I knew by then that I was dead. Killed by a bunch of tiny children. I didn't even scream as I fell into the river, knowing I couldn't swim. I never struggled. I just lay there, letting the river carry me away. I then passed out.
When I woke up, I couldn't move. It turns out someone dragged me out of the river. And it also turns out that that person works for an illegal human trafficking business that somehow has not been found for so long, which makes sense considering how crappy our police are. Surprisingly, I didn't truly understood what was going on until I was dragged onto a stage and auctioned out. Apparently, no one wanted me because I was disabled and was therefore completely useless. So they decided to kill me because I knew too much.
Honestly, I didn't care too much at the time. So I let them throw me back in the river and tie me down. Eventually, everyone left. It was just me and the young owner of the business. He constantly wore a mask over his face, and was very quiet. I started wondering how I was alive. I just sat there, not blacking out or feeling anything. It was incredibly awkward until the other person spoke.
"How?"
I just blinked at them. Did they really expect me to reply? I was literally underwater. Though, if I was alive, I suppose anything was possible.
"What about you made you so special that the vexes decided to spare you?"
I remember wishing that I could reply. If I could, I would say, 'Excuse me what? I have no idea what you're talking about.' But I couldn't, so I just continued to stare at him. Sighing, he jumped into the water and untied me, dragging me out and gagging. Trust me, I had no idea what was going on until these little blue creatures with wings followed me out of the water. I was then dragged back to the building where the auction took place while the tiny blue creatures seemed to communicate with the masked man. Somehow, he was able to understand their annoying screeching. I remember the conversation going something like this.
"So what is so special about this disabled person?"
"SCREEEEEEEEE!!!"
"What do you mean 'I'll see later'?"
"SCREEEEEEEEE!!!"
"What do you want me to make?"
"SCREEEEEEEEE!!!"
"Okay okay, just show me the blueprint."
And then I was dragged into a lab of sorts and put back on a wheelchair. Great. Back where I started. The tiny blue creatures gave that masked weirdo a blueprint for something before dragging me and my wheelchair into another room.
Long story short - they were like flies, and they basically annoyed the secret 'vex magic' out of me. Trust me, I was just as confused when all of a sudden a blue flame came out of my fingertips and knocked all the blue creatures back. The guy with the mask chose this time to check up on me, and I was like, why not, might as well take advantage of this weird magic thing. So I blasted some of the blue magic at him, and he countered with his own magic. We were both very surprised.
So we kinda fought, attacking each other with weird magic and nearly destroying the room I was in. Neither of us really knew what was going on. I vaguely remember some stray magic hitting an empty pot and causing a plant to grow out of it. Just a random detail. It turns out, the other dude was way stronger and experienced with magic than I was, so I didn't know how to react when they used their magic to form a magic rope that wrapped around my arms and prevented them from moving, disabling my magic. The rope then wrapped around my neck and choked me, which wasn't very pleasant. But it sure was effective at knocking me out. Again.
So at this point I was tired of being moved around, but I woke up in a bed in an unfamiliar room with no windows and a barred door. At least they were nice enough to provide a bed. The door opened and the masked man walked through. I tried to bring up my hand to attack them, before finding that I had really tight mittens around my hands that were blocking out my magic. I glared at the man who seemed to be laughing a little at my reaction. "Really?" I asked.
The man nodded. "Yep. Now come on, it's breakfast time."
The man turned to leave before I called out, "you know I can't walk right?"
The man smirked at me, tilting their head. "Why don't you try?" Confused, I tried moving my legs. I was surprised to find they actually moved.
"How?" I asked.
The other grinned. "The vexes has me make braces for you so you can move. I don't know why, but they did. But that means that you can actually run from me now. And I'm warning you that you don't want to see what happens when I'm mad. So don't."
I rolled me eyes. "What, am I your slave or something now?"
"Something like that. Just know that you belong to me."
I glared at him. "I don't belong to anybody."
The other just laughed. "You really are stubborn, aren't you."
"I. DON'T. BELONG. TO. ANYONE." I growled.
"You know what? I was originally going to call you by name. But you obviously are too stubborn for that. I think I'll call you... Scar."
"Fine. Then I won't call you by your real name either. I'll call you Cub."
"Why Cub?"
"Because you're as savage as a bear, but too wimpy to be an adult one."
Cub's gaze hardened. "You'll want to gain some manners soon, or you'll regret it."
I smiled at him in return, satisfied to have annoyed him. "Oh, I'm sure you have a lot of regrets right now."
"You bet I do."
(I kinda made Scar way too cocky and savage, but I kinda like him like this. I dunno, it's a bit of a new personality type, though it doesn't really match Scar. Again, I'm not really satisfied with this, but I'm still continuing it. I also want to finish The Moon is Falling, and possibly Checkmate, when I find the time and inspiration.)
(Aughhh I keep forgetting to include this! Welp I'm doing it in an edit because I'm not making a whole chapter for this.)
(Like my ideas? Feel free to use them/continue them, as long as you credit me! Also maybe tag me in it, I'd really like to see what you write!)
