The reason he chose to be Jingler and give out cookies is that everyone was very down and needed some cheering up. So he decided he was gonna go undercover and give out cookies for free. But it kinda turned into a game and taking the diamonds is when it stopped being for kindness. 

(Season 7)

In the beginning, once he (Finished) settled with/in Larry he started to experiment with positions and make his own poisons and potions. And that's when he made the potion that if someone touched it and it's on another organism the person turns into a hybrid with that organism. sorry if that makes 0 sense I'm kind of tired. (This may have happened to a hermit or two ;) )
