Kidnapped pt. 4 (continuation)
This is the first and hopefully but probably not last part of my continuation of Itz_Larissa's one shot kidnapped.
Wels P.O.V.
Each one of us took off in sequence, deciding to go through the nether to get there faster. I was holding Jevin while flying through the small tunnel, an uncomfortable prospect but it's not like there was another way.
There wouldn't have been the time to wake him up there, so I decided I would just carry him to Xb's base. Besides, then it would give him more time to come out on his own, instead of forcing him out, since I knew that hurt him.
It took a while until we were at the portal for Xb's base, since it was so far away. Also the fact that we kept having to stop for people bumping into the walls of accidentally landing on the floor wasn't helping.
Eventually we decided to just walk the rest of the way, and I repositioned Jevin so that I was giving him a piggy back ride. It wasn't the most comfortable at the time, but I was sure that it would be easier than any other way to carry him in the long run.
The red of the netherrack was only interrupted by the grayish-red veins that ran through the block. It was a while of the same monotonous trek, and the oppressive heat of the nether didn't help at all.
It seemed like days had passed when we finally got to the purple swirls of the nether portal. Moving into a single file line out of instinct, we went through one at a time.
I stepped out onto the post apocalyptic shattered savanna of Xb's base, marveling at the astonishing builds scattered around. When I spotted the main base floating in the sky, I was dumbfounded at how he made something that big in the sky.
Xb led the way, and we all took off to his base. I was still carrying Jevin, and I held him tighter to my chest as we flew up into the main part of the floating structure.
We all landed pretty smoothly, and I set Jevin down on a bench next to a wall. Immediately Grian came over to where I was, presumably to check on Jev.
My suspicions were confirmed when he opened his mouth to speak. "How's Jevin?". "He's fine," I responded, pausing before deciding to give him an explanation. " He just does this whenever he's stressed and doesn't have a fun of ice cream to consume. "
"Technically I can get him out of it, but it hurts him to do that and I'd rather wait as long as possible to see him get out on his own." I finished up with that, hoping that Grian wouldn't mind waiting a bit.
" Yeah, I think we can spare a bit of time. I bet I speak for all of us when I say we don't want any unnecessary pain to be inflicted upon our fellow server mates. "
I smiled thankfully, returning my attention to Jevin who appeared to be stirring slightly.
Jevin P.O.V.
I was faintly aware of motion, but ignored in preference to stay in my little safe mind box, rewatching memories of me and Wels when we were younger. I went through memories of me watching his sword fighting competitions, when I would congratulate him afterward.
I tried to stay away from memories of school, but I carefully picked through to find as many happy ones as possible. Of course they were all with Wels, since the knight was his only friend.
His home life wasn't particularly happy either. While it wasn't bad, his parents were just never home. They were always off on some work trip or visiting old friends.
He did also run through some good memories of sleepovers at Wels' house, how they had fun playing games and talking, how occasionally Jevin would just end up joining Wels instead of sleeping on the mattress on the floor, especially on nights when he had nightmares.
Thinking about that almost caused some bad memories to well up, particularly those about his school bullies and the magic training his parents made him go to.
He pushed them down, and decided it was probably time to leave this place, as serene as it was. Xb was probably worried about him suddenly becoming unresponsive and staying that way.
He cleared away the walls, allowing himself to slowly become aware of his surroundings. He made it gradual, as he knew through experiencing that making it sudden would cause him pain from being overwhelmed so suddenly.
When he opened his eyes and allowed his sight to return in full, he was Wels in front of him with a relieved expression. In that one moment, Jevin felt a current of pure joy rush through him upon realizing that he wasn't in a cell, and he was with his best friend.
You know what I've just realized? I just wrote the last few paragraphs in a more third person point of view, just focusing on Jevin. Oops!
"Wels!" I shouted out, shifting off the bench I had found myself on and tackling him in a hug. He took a second to look around and recognize his surroundings, recognizing Xb's base of operations for the season.
He also vaguely noticed the other people, seeing all of the neutral hermits and all of the members of the Mycelium Resistance. He guessed that Stress just have gotten out, somethings happened to HEP and therefore to False, so she rallied the neutral members of the server for a prison break.
"Jevin! I'm so glad you're awake and ok. I was so worried when Stress told me to come to her base and that you were in trouble. Even more so when she told me the situation." Wels smiled and hugged me back.
I pulled us both up since I noticed Grian getting on a hastily prepared podium of sorts, looking as if he was going to address the somewhat restless crowd of hermits before him. "Shh, looks like Grian is about to say something," I shushed him blabbering about how worried he had been.
"Okay, since Jevin has finally woken up, we can start our plan on how to stop H.E.P. First, for all those of you who didn't know, the vex is back. We have a feeling it's influencing Scar again, and we know from his own words that he's using it to control the rest of H.E.P."
"Before we can do anything we need to figure out where the vex is getting its power from, so we can destroy it. Hypno," at this, the hermit mentioned perked up, " I've been told you have access to the code and might know how to find where the vex is getting its power from. "
Hypno nodded at he assumption, showing he could. "Okay, I need you to try and find that. The rest of us will need to make a plan of attack. Even if we don't know the location, we still can plan a few things since H.E.P. is probably not going to just let us walk up and destroy the vexs power source."
"Also, if anyone wants to opt out of fighting they can. I understand that many of you never wanted to fight a war, but I implore you to consider the fact that we probably need you." At this point TFC stood up. " I don't think I'm in the shape to fight, I'll sit this one out." Grian nodded in acknowledgement.
"Everyone will partner up in battle. Partners are going to stick together and take care of you. If your partner goes down, you take them to a healing tent we'll prepare to be healed. Now for partners, me and Iskall, Doc and Ren, Etho and Beef, Impulse and Zedaph, Hypno and Xb, Jevin and Wels, and Joe and Cleo. Stress, I was hoping you could man the healing tent."
"Can do, boss," she replied, sounding very official. That was broke a moment later when she burst out into soft giggles at her seriousness, which caused everyone else into the rum to erupt into a chorus of poorly hidden laughter.
Hypno P.O.V.
I had pulled up the admin screens to begin searching through the code, moving to a quieter part of the base to begin my work. Xb accompanied, telling me he would fill me in on what Grian had said afterward so I could focus on what I was doing.
I started by cloaking myself so that Xisuma wouldn't be able to detect me rummaging through the code if he was looking at it. He was still the server admin, and could revoke my privileges with the push of a button.
Sighing, I got to work, laying myself down on the bed so I was in a more comfortable position. I was so focused that I barely even noticed Xb sliding down beside me, but I instinctively curled into his side, seeking the warmth and comfort he offered.
I navigated my way through the code slowly, a bit rusty after not using my skills for years. However, being a hacker originally this was my area of expertise, stalking around in code to find things.
Granted, there was still a lot of code to look through for a place called hermitcraft, so I set my search to try and find bits of code with more prominence or power. Coming up on nothing, I guessed the vex had been smart and given the code a cloak.I
So I set my hacker skills to work and modified the search so it could look for cloaks in the code. Surprisingly there were quite a few, and I set to work decoding each and every one of them.
It was a bit startlingly, some of the things hidden, but I found nothing suspicious. However there are some things I might need eye bleach for later, who knew that stuff like that could be hidden in the code of a place such as hermitcraft.
It felt like yours gone by and I had almost cracked all of the cloaks. My arms were aching from the extended use and my eyes were growing tired from staring at the screen.
I jumped when Xb tapped my shoulder. "Hey, Cleo and Stress prepared dinner. I think you need to put that down for a moment and come eat," Xb said gently. I sighed, I was tired and just wanted to finish, but Xb was right, and my rumbling stomach proved that.
He grabbed my hand and tugged me along towards the table. Everyone else was already sat down when we got there, except for a couple more people who were currently approaching.
A couple of minutes later Stress and Cleo came out with food for everyone, and we all dug in, people periodically complimenting the meal. I was impressed, I hadn't had food this good in a while.I
After we were done eating I felt more tired than ever, but I needed to get my thing finished so we could launch our attack as quickly as possible. Xb followed me once again and layer down beside me when I got on my bed. My movements were sluggish and I struggled to keep my eyes open as I popped up my admin screens. Xb laying next to me didn't help.
Xb tapped my shoulder, prompting me to lower the screens for a moment to look at him. "Hypno, I can see you're tired. You need to sleep." Xb shushed me as soon as I opened my mouth to protest and I knew I wouldn't win.
Sighing I closed my admin screens and closed my eyes. I couldn't fall asleep, and soon found my arms wrapped around Xb. Let's just say I fell asleep faster after that.
When I woke up in the morning, I could feel Xb with his arms around me. I wiggled out of his grip, and put a pillow where I was so he wouldn't wake. Looking around, the atmosphere was still pretty sleepy. There were only a few people awake, among them Grian and Jevin. I sat down on a chair after getting some coffee.
After taking a couple sips to get myself awake, I pulled the admins screens back up and began to uncloak more of the hidden code. Low and behold, after only a couple more tries I found it. From what I could see th e power was coming from the crystals outside of Cub's base.
I gave a shout of victory, and everyone heard it since everyone had women up in the time it from me to find it. Including Xb, who at some point had begun hovering over my chair. "I found it, it's coming from the crystals at Cub's base."
After that announcement, and a small speech from Grian, everybody was scrambling to get ready for the upcoming battle.
Aaaaaaaaand cut. I apologize that this took so long to get out. I've been a bit busy irl, and as a result haven't really been in the mood to write. Definitely doesn't help that I can't write in front of people and I've been in front of people almost constantly.
Anyway, I can't believe that this little mini series has gotten to over six thousand words, not counting Itz_Larissa's original oneshot. Thank you all for the support on this project, it has been astounding and I truly appreciate it.
