Going Beyond and Onwards
Jevin's POV:
Ships are not exposed to fly. I repeat, SHIPS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO FLY. There is a reason for that! Just... take it from me, the ships are not airplanes.
Anyways, we were on the ship we stole, waiting for the island of Samothrace to appear as we were sailing along the ocean. The sun's rays shone through the window hitting my back.
"You sure we are on the correct path?" Xb asked, looking up from his book.
"Yep, Nereus texted me the location of Samothrace," I said lying face down on the floor.
"Aren't you supposed to... you know, drive this ship?" Cleo said, she sat near Joe still modeling a small stature she found on the ship.
"Once you enter the location you want to go, the ship goes into auto-pilot, meaning I can't even drive this ship." I sighed.
The door to my left opened, out came a Xisuma holding a phone, "If we have time, can we meet up with someone?"
I pulled my head up and said, "Who?"
Xisuma just shrugged "You see."
"You got other friends?" Zed said seeming shocked.
"Ow," Xisuma said, looking down with sadness in his purple eyes.
Exy holds in his laughter in the background, and nearly choked on water.
"Surprisingly, yes, my idiot sandwich of a brother has other friends expect us," Exy said.
Xisuma just sat on the floor, his arm crossed, and asked me, "How long till we get to Samothrace?"
False (who was playing chess with TFC) "I found a map book in one of the ship's cabinets, and to me, we should be on the island."
"Well, it is a bit misty outside..." TFC said, still looking at the chessboard, "Checkmate, False."
"Ah, a come from behind victory, classic." False grinned, resetting the chessboard.
"This is so annoying! We should be at the docking point right now!" Mumbo said glaring up from the small castle of books Scar built around him.
"Maybe if I fly out high enough, I will be able to see the island," Grian suggested, putting another book on Mumbo's castle.
"I don't think the mist will be able to change what a flying person looks like." Beef said, looking at the chess match between False and TFC.
"Oh, then what about a flying ship, the mist may change this ship into an airplane," Ren said.
"That sounds great!" Joe said while reading about water currents on a beanie he found. (Honestly, I found it first, but he claimed it. And I still haven't forgiven him.)
"How are we going to lift a thousand-pound vessel into the air? I can barely lift a book!" Cleo exclaimed.
Zed looked at Xisuma, "Can't you use your magic?"
Xisuma suddenly looks up, "What do I look like to you? Superman? The amount of magic needed will be insane! I'll be surprised if I can even lift it two inches without collapsing onto the ground like Jevin!" Xisuma points at me and my motionless body on the ground.
I stared at the darkness of the ground and I gave a piece of mighty great advice, "Don't lie face down on the floor, it tastes like dirt."
Mumbo laughed, "Then why are you doing it?"
I looked him straight in the eyes, "I have committed too far, I have to continue this."
Mumbo looked at the tower of books around him, and stared at Scar and Grian who are somehow making trees out of books, "What on earth did you build?"
Bdubs (who wasn't sleeping for once) giggled, "It's the Mumbo castle, fit for the king of spoons, too bad it doesn't come with interiors..."
Mumbo's voice went up three octaves, "When did I become the king of spoons?"
Exy rubbed his hand maliciously, "I been waiting for a chance like this, I can finally throw something into the air!"
Xisuma stood up suddenly, "What! No! You are not smashing this boat into pieces! We still have to return this!"
Wels came out of his room, "Why is everybody yelling-"
The boat jerked upwards, which causes Hypno to wake up from his nap, "What the- Earthquake? What no! What?"
The chess pieces shattered onto the floor, the castle of books topped over and flatten the mustached man.
I slid toward the wall, and in a panic looked out the window.
"Guys! The boat is flying?" I yelled, hugging the wall for my life.
"What?" Joe yelled from the other side of the boat.
"This isn't I planned any of this to work!" Xisuma yelled, quickly trying to use his magic to help stabilize the ship.
"I can do this by myself! I don't need your help!" Exy yelled over the large roar of the pressure dropping in my non-existence ears.
"We are all going to die from this." Grain said in the calmest way possible.
"At least I can meet up with my dad a lot more." Tango half yelled from the table he hid under.
"Ex! Stop this!" Xb said hugging the table's legs.
"Wait, no! Don't stop! We'll crash into the water and sink!" I yelled and stared out of the window.
We were about ten meters off the water surface, and at the far left, there seems to be movement.
"I see land!" I yelled.
"Where?" Ex yelled.
"Left! Land!" Zed said informatively.
"My left or you're left?" Cleo yelled.
"Who cares?" Ex said.
"This is not going to plan," Xisuma said, somehow not raising his voice.
"Don't worry brother! This is the greatest plan!" Ex said.
"Crashing into the beach is not a plan for anything!" False said.
"We are going to crash, Exy!" Keralis said, his shocked face matching the mood of all the Hermits.
"Slow down with the descend!" Tango yelled.
"I will!" Ex said, mockingly matching his brother's voice.
"Try not to get another person killed!" Wels yelled.
"Try not to get us killed too!" Hypno yelled.
The ship was very close to the yellow sand of the beach. There were confused faces around us, I overheard the mumbling of two people, a guy with a green shirt and his friend who had glasses,
"What the...?" The guy with the dark glasses said.
"I think my eyes are playing tricks on me...?" the Green shirt guy said.
"Are we in a middle of a movie set?" A new voice said.
The dull thump when this ship landed was heard around the world.
"Gods, my stomach is going to have a field day." Beef said, cupping his mouth.
"I don't even have a stomach, but I agree..." Cleo said, Joe, helped her up.
"Uh, Cleo we may need you here..." Doc said, poking his head out of the ship.
I went to the ship's deck and oh boy, people were confused.
"What's going on?" said a girl with a purple-white cap on.
"This... isn't how it looks like?" I said shyly, slowly stepping back into the ship.
"Are we in a movie shot?" A guy with a white headband said.
"Yes! Yes! But it was supposed to be a secret... but uh." Cleo said leaning on the wall, the eyes of the mortals went to her, the mist wasn't in effect yet.
"I messed up... don't I?" Cleo said, slowly walking out of the line of sight.
"Guys, please move along, you heard what they said." A male voice spoke.
He stood near the end of the crowd, if he didn't have red skin and three-piece formal wear, it would be impossible to spot him. (He looks... similar somehow.)
"Yes! Move along! And never tell anyone what you just saw!" Cleo said, adding charmspeak to her voice.
The crowd of people confusedly moved away.
"No way... is that who I think he is?" Xisuma peeked over Doc's shoulders.
He sighed a bit and stared at Xisuma, "Well, you told me you wanted to meet."
"Python! It's great to see you again!" Xisuma said.
"Are you angry with me for... you know... disappearing like that?" The man who was named Python said.
"No, not at all, you found yourself a new home, right? As long as you are happy, I'm happy for you." Xisuma said.
"Hey, it's a lot less paperwork to do," Exy said.
He smirked at Ex's comment and looked at the other who has crowded around me, "Jeez, that's a lot of new people."
Xisuma chucked, "Yep, all of them are claimed so it's better than before." Xisuma then quickly glared at Grian, Zed, and Beef "Well, most of them at least."
"Nice! It reminds me, I got claimed too! Son of Nike!" Python proudly said, "I now help out with my mom."
"Well, that's a coincidence, we need to find Nike for a quest," Doc said.
"A what?" Python's voice went a bit higher.
"You see, Beef and Xb got a dream about a quest, then shortly after we got attacked, and now the day is going faster than night," Bdubs said, looking at the sun, which seems to be going a lot faster than it did the day before.
"Oh jeez, but what do you need my mom for?" Python said.
"I don't know, the dream just said to find the question of the flame, and at camp, we use a flame to represent victory." Beef said, shrugging.
Python peeked up, "Did you guys gain a few more brain cells while I was gone?"
"I am sorry to ruin your happy reunion, but who are you?" Xb asked.
Python, hearing the slight annoyance in Xb's voice, introduced himself, "Well, hello there, I'm Python! And uh, Xisuma asked me if I was free and if I wanted to meet and I am, so here I am!"
Xb looks at Xisuma expecting a response.
Xisuma pets Python on the shoulders, "He knows the ins and outs of this island, so I thought that he can be our tour guild."
"My mom lives in the Sanctuary of the Great Gods. How fitting." Python lazily stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Well, then we should get going, can't waste any time." TFC chucked.
Python leads us to the nearest bus stop, chatting the whole way (What a chatterbox.) he's very bubbly and nice, going from one topic to another.
"That's cool that you can control water! So, can you stand on it?" Python asked, looking at the road for a bus.
"I honestly haven't tried it, but I doubt I can do it." I said, "It takes a lot to make and maintain an air bubble underwater, so do not break the surface tension of the water, so you won't sink in is even harder."
"Oh there! Our bus is here!" Python said waving at the aqua bus slowing down.
We got on the bus, the bus driver looked at the crowd of demigods, "Uh, lost tour? I don't remember there being a tour event here."
Ah, only in the weird Greek worlds, would the Mist change 25 demigods (In which some aren't even human) into a whole lot of helpless tourists.
"We'll not be lost, we just got separated from the rest of the tour," Python said, his voice a bit jumpy.
The driver narrowed his eyes, "Well, get going then, don't block the door."
Python nodded and speed-walked into one of the sits.
"Geez, your charmspeaking needs to be worked on," Cleo said, sitting next to Joe.
"I know!" Python said, burying his head in his hands, "Mom isn't much better, so do you mind teaching your skills to her?" (If it was even possible, his face got a bit redder.)
"You know, I am kind of curious, what do you do with Nike?" Joe asked as he rewired his ukulele.
"You know, normal parent-children stuff! Reading books, helping people, going golfing..." Python listed.
"Don't you have monsters chasing you or something?" Zed asked.
"I am always near mom, and she can kick butts." Python answered, "Honestly, I am a good fighter myself so I can defend myself."
"Do you have a weapon?" Iskall asked excitedly.
"Yeah, but..." Python said, looking around, "It's a bit flashy, you know..."
False joined into Iskall's talk, "Now I want to see it even more!"
Python meekly reached into his bag and pulled out some heavy-looking combat gloves, he put one of them on, "It takes a while to charge and turn on but-"
At that moment, the glove let out a ring of glowing yellow magic, it lit up the dark insides of the bus.
"Whoa, what does it do?" Iskall asked partiality off his seat.
"Well, when I punch something, it lets out a blast of magic." Python carefully puts one of the gloves on, "It is a bit dangerous but it's powerful."
"Where did you even get this?" False asked.
"Mom gave it to me! She's the best!" Python smiled and pretended to punch the air with his free hand.
"How is it like? I mean you're so close to Nike, aside from birthday cards, I rarely see Demeter." Keralis said.
"That's depressing, I can't really think about life without my mom." His tone went a bit dark, sensing the uneasiness in us.
"Oh, look it's our stop!" Zed said, clearly obvious to the situation.
We got off and False began spilling history facts as she excitingly looked around, I mean it was a nice area, there weren't many people here, perfect for any god or goddess to live in.
A small fleet of stairs led up to some old broken ruins. A small forest went on to the left of the ruins.
"Where is Nike anyways," Iskall said, while trying to shut False's mouth.
"We live over there in a small clearing in the forest, it's cozy and nice there." Python pointed at the southwest of the forest.
We walked in, I held my breath, it was the first time I met a god face to face, my anxiety raced.
A large pocket of empty space opened up, two large leaf pills to back corners of the open place, books lay around in a disorganized manner.
In the middle, a person the size of a child sit on top of a table, she had silver to white hair which was longer than her body; she also wore a golden leaf crown, some white robes, and an opening at her back, a pair of pale yellow wings partially closed. She was reading a small, thick book.
She looked up from her book, and spoke, "Python, your back! And with friends?" Her eyes were purple.
"Yeah, mom met my friends, and my fellow hermits met my mom," Python said.
The other hermits looked at each other, we didn't know what to do and we began to mentally panic.
Xisuma kneeled confusedly, and others bowed, while some stood still.
"Oh, no need for the bowing and kneeling, I'm Nike," Nike said, clearly seeing our confusion. (Python facepalmed in the background.)
"Um, yes, nice to meet you, uh, my name is Hypno," Hypno said, and he went in for a handshake then changed into a high-five because we are all dumb and trying to use our brain to talk to a goddess.
"Mom, excuse them, they don't talk much with their parents," Python said, dying of embarrassment.
"I know, the other god tend to... play safe, I honestly feel a bit bad for them." Nike stood up and flew to Python and kissed him on the forehead.
Exy went up at her, "Hey, we don't need your pity, also we are on a time limit and need your help."
Nike went back to her table and puffed up her wings, "Wow, rude."
"Uh, I am sure that Ex doesn't mean that!" Cleo said.
"Oh yeah, Cleo here wants to give us some lesson in charmspeaking," Python said, sitting near his mom. (This is where it all went south.)
"Oh, insulting my abilities? And asking for a favor, wow, adding salt on wounds." Nike said, her tone very salty.
"Uh, sorry?" Cleo said.
She curse us off and said, "I'll help you if you can face the thing you hate the most." She leaped off the table and flew into the thickness of the forest.
Python looked at us and whispered sorry, over and over again and threw us his gloves and ran off to his mom.
Xisuma caught the gloves and looked at us, "Well... now what."
"She told us to face the thing you hate the most," Xb said.
"It's that just another word for face your fears?" False said.
"Yeah, is there a god of fears?" Beef asked.
"It's the Greeks, they have gods for everything," Ex said.
"And to answer the question in more detail, yes, Phobos, god of fear," False said.
"Where does he live then?" Stress asked.
"I have no idea," Iskall said, and the other hermits seem to be lost too.
"Most minor gods live on Mount Olympus, so our best guess is Phobos live there too," Keralis said.
"Well, that's like a thousand miles away," B-dubs said.
"I think we can take a plane there," Cub said.
"If we don't blow it up, like last time." Scar added.
"Wait last time?" Zed asked.
"Anyways, let's go to the nearest airport!" I said, ignoring Zed's question.
We went up for a bit, but Grian stood still, staring at the sun. (To be fair, it was nearly sunset, and it should still be afternoon)
"Hey, Grian! We'll go!" Mumbo called out.
"Oh! Sorry, spaced out for a bit, I'm coming." Grian said and flew over.
The sunset's warm rays lit up the road back to the bus stop, and so, we stepped into the next bus and went off to the next chapter of our tale.
TLDR:
The crew went to Samothrace, thankfully Nike was there but unthankfully she was in a bad mood and ordered them to go and fight their fear, causing the Hermit to have two extra chapters of questing. Also, they met up with Python.
Author's Notes:
Woah, 3007 words and my hands are dead.
Today was a good day, I met a wild HermitCraft fan and met a Dream fan.
My boy Python appeared, how I described him wasn't the best, but I can work with it.
If Nike weren't in a bad mood, you wouldn't have two extra chapters of content.
Man, MCC was great, good job to the winners! I (Not saying in case, if you haven't watched it. Go watch it)
And here's an art dump, and also half the reason why this took so long to write.
