Hermione's POV

"I can't believe you've continued so many subjects" James states as we waited for the others in the compartment we had gotten.

"It's only seven" I tell him.

"Most NEWT students only take five subjects. Hell that's how many the others and I are taking" he states.

"You and Sirius want to be aurors right?" I ask.

"Yep, so do Alice and Frank. While Remus wants to go into teaching" he states.

"He'll be an amazing teacher" I state.

"He was your teacher in future?" he asks curious and I nod my head. "So is that why you won't admit you like him?" he asks me.

"He's my friend, it'd be hard not to like him" I tell him as I turn the page of my book.

"You know that's not what I mean" he states. Just then Sirius appears with the other two. "You found them" James says with a smile.

"What were you both discussing?" Sirius asks as Remus sits beside me opening a book. Crookshanks hissed at Peter, so he had to sit with James and Sirius.

"The amount of subjects Hermione is taking" James states.

"How many?" Peter squeaks.

"Seven" James answers.

"Why so many?" Sirius asks me.

"I want to be prepared for the future, no matter what career path I take" I state.

"I think she's being smart" Remus states.

"Thank you Remus" I say.

"Of course Mia" he says.

"Are you two dating?" Peter asks.

"No" we both say.

"Peter, we're starting our NEWT years. I don't have time for a relationship" I tell him.

"You would if you took less subjects" Sirius tells me.

"Shut it Black" I say. Just then there was a knock on the door. "Enter" I say and Lily pops her head in.

"Lily flower" James says ruffling his hair. I roll my eyes.

"Hi Lily, have a nice summer?" I ask her.

"I guess so, can you come with me?" she asks. I nod marking my book. Telling Sirius to watch Crookshanks before leaving with Lily.

"What's wrong?" I ask her concerned.

"Severus and I had a fight over summer. He called me a mudblood" she says sadly.

"Oh Lily" I say hugging her. "He didn't mean it" I tell her.

"I know, but it hurt" she states.

"Though this could work out for us" I state.

"You mean, the future?" she asks in a whisper and I nod.

"You guys can reconnect, but keep it secret. That way he can spy for us" I tell her. She nods her head in understand. "Anything else happen this summer?" I ask curious.

"Petunia visited and introduced her boyfriend Vernon. Granted I wasn't home, I was having a sleep over at Alice's with her and Marlene. But I don't know, I miss my older sister. We used to be so close before I got my letter" she states. "Do we ever reconnect?" she asks me hopeful.

"I can't lie to you Lily, but you and Petunia never reconnected before you die. But now you'll have a life time to reconnect" I tell her. She nods her head. We join the other girls.

"Hi Hermione, have a nice summer?" Alice asks.

"Discovered I'm not a full muggle born" I state.

"What do you mean?" Marlene asks.

"Turns out my great grandfather was a squib" I state. "So there is magic in my family, I'm just the first in four generations to have magic" I explain.

"That's cool" Alice states.

"I even meet my second cousin, a wizard" I tell them.

"What's his name?" Lily asks.

"Hector Dagworth-Granger, my great grandfather was his uncle" I state.

"Wicked" Marlene says. The rest of the train ride was uneventful. I returned to the boys after the food trolley. To see Peter with a bleeding hand. Apparently Sirius had dared him to pat Crookshanks, who clawed his hand. I just shook my head and returned to my book.

We arrived at Hogsmeade station and caught a carriage to the school. We took our seats and watched the first years get sorted. The feast then began. It was lovely as always. When dessert came, Remus gave me a slice of Treacle tart.

"You remembered" I state.

"Of course" he says with a smile. I hand him a slice of chocolate cake. He smiles accepting it. We eat our desserts. "Want to go to the library?" he asks.

"Sure" I tell him.

"We haven't even got homework yet" Sirius tells us

"So?" we ask him.

"Hey Lily, we're going to the library. Want to come?" I ask.

"Sure" she agrees.

"I'll come too" James states. Sirius looks at him shocked. "These a new quidditch book out and I want to see it the library has it. It's supposed to have new chaser techniques inside" he explains.

So the four of us finished dessert. And headed to the library. After Remus told Sirius the new password. Lily got a book on healing charms, Remus a book on Defensive spells, I got a book on animagi. James found his quidditch book. We all sat at the table and read until ten minutes to curfew. We then returned to the common room. Calling it a night.
