Chapter Ten

I woke up the next morning slightly confused. I figured I was in my bed, but I didn't remember how I got there. Then I heard snoring out in the living room again. That's right, I was afraid to see Mike again, so someone took me home thinking I was sick. I guess Angus came back a while later.

He was sleeping on the couch wrapped up in a blanket, one arm hanging off the side. He was still snoring a little, and I smiled to myself. Without waking him up I knelt down and kissed his forehead. He twitched a little but still slept.

Until someone knocked on our door.

"Fucking three in the morning..." Angus mumbled turning over on the couch. I stood up and went to answer it.

"Hey, Angus up?" Cliff asked. "Course not," he said before I could.

"What's up?"

"He came in my room last night to borrow some cologne, need to borrow it back."

"Sure, come on in." Cliff came in as Angus continued to sleep. He headed to the bathroom and came back out with a bottle.

"If he didn't already use it all," he joked shaking it. "Glad you made it back okay. You feelin' better?"

"Oh yeah, guess I just needed some sleep." He nodded.

"I don't wanna, seem-intrusive or anythin', but why'd you seem in such a hurry to leave?" I shrugged.

"Just-had to get away from something I guess."

"Or someone?" Cliff asked warily.

"Yeah, something like that."

"Someone making you uncomfortable? 'Cause remember what I said?"

"Yeah I know. I guess the stress of it all got me."

"Do I know him?"

"Yeah."

"...does Mal know him?" I nodded. "Does...does Angus know him?" I thought back to when Angus called me away from Mike when he had me pinned against the wall.

"Oh yeah." I noticed Cliff get a little nervous after I answered.

"Well, I gotta go, tell Angus I was here." And with that, he left the room.

"No need, just woke up," Angus called from the couch.

Cliff walked away from the room as quick as he could. More and more this 'someone' sounded a lot like Angus. And Hannah needed to get away from him? She was crazy about him two seconds ago. He'd need to talk to Malcolm about this, at least he should know.

"What'd he want?" Angus asked turning on the couch again to face me. He was still really tired.

"He just came to get his cologne back."

"Oh, yeah." I sat down on the floor next to him and once again we were in a comfortable silence with each other. Then he started giggling.

"What's so funny?" I turned to face him. He was laughing into his hand and was looking at me. Course I couldn't help but laugh with him.

"Nothin' nothin'." Surely not nothing. Did I look like a witch or something?

"No, what's so funny?" I started laughing harder and he just lost it. "What's so freaking funny?"

"N-nothing!" He could barely get the word out. For a good minute or two we laughed together over 'nothing'. It finally subsided, and I looked at Angus who was smiling at me.

"Now what?"

"Jus' thinkin'."

"What about?" He was quiet a while. I thought he wouldn't answer.

"You remember when we first met-ya' know, Margaret brought you home and we all headed to the music room-your room? And we all talked about, I don't know, and you were laughing a lot?" Oh yeah. Bon, Phil, and Malcolm were making jokes about girls' restrooms after I mistakenly told them about phones.

"Yeah, what about it?"

"Just thought of it again. Your laugh."

"What about it?" I repeated.

"Just-thought it cute is all." I looked at the floor and picked at the carpet.

"I miss him."

"Who?"

"Bon." He didn't say anything. As much of a rocker and roller he was, that didn't stop him from loving and spending time with his friends. He really was a great guy, you just had to get to know his craziness. They were all crazy, but Bon had a certain air about him. Wish I could have known him longer, he died before I could come back. And with him, a part of everyone else too.

"Wish you could have seen us late seventies. Not 'cause we were famous but, it was, before his death ya' know. You came back right after it. Bon would have loved to see you again. He always told me you'd come back but-" he stopped. He looked out like he was trying to remember something, but didn't want to.

Angus sat up on the couch and leaned back against the armrest. "Come up here then," he said patting a little space next to him. I got off the floor and sat between the back cushion and him. He pulled the blanket atop me and held me to him. "There we go." I still don't know what it is with these Young fellas being as warm as heck, but they were and dog gone, it was nice. "I remember when we first met Bon. Put on his wife's knackers by mistake. Didn't bother to change," Angus laughed at the memory. I smiled. Good old Bon. I'm glad Brian got the opportunity, but Bon shouldn't have died.

"Dressed in drag without us knowing. Played bagpipes in a rock and roll song. Hell, even wore a kilt." I recalled reading about those times. That kid was ballsy you got to admit. Even wrote a song about that. As time went on it seemed Angus was talking to himself. Reminding himself of the good old days. He'd laugh every now and then or his voice would crack during a sadder memory.

"God, can't believe it's been sixteen years already. Sixteen fuckin' years... sorry, it's just, Jesus." We sat on the couch a while longer completely unaware of the hours ticking around us. "You've been awfully quiet. Probably boring you with my rambling, huh?" he laughed. I shook my head.

"No, not at all. Just listening."

"Here, I'll let you talk a little. What's a memory you have of him?" I thought back to 1975. "Guess that isn't too much?"

"I remember- I remember the morning after I told everybody I time traveled. I came out and sat down, Bon came out probably from the shower. He picked up a book to read and I apologized for not telling anyone sooner. He pretended he was reading to ignore me, you know. The book was upside down." Angus chuckled.

"Of course it was. I remember that day too. The morning after I uh, confessed my feelings," he mumbled. "I hear the boys were pretty upset. I was too. Didn't want you leaving."

"Neither did I."

"Then you came back in 1980 and I acted like such an ass..."

"That wasn't your fault, you-"

"Yes, yes it fucking was my fault. Aside from all that, you're back again. Man, three times. You ever get tired from seeing us?"

"Not a chance."

"Oh. I would. Hangin' around Mal all day? Whew," he sighed making me giggle.

"You know he says the same about you."

"Maybe. But we all say the same about Phil," Angus started laughing again. He looked at his wrist but no watch was there. "Huh. Wonder what time it is..." I was so cozy next to him I didn't want him to leave and go check. But he never did. "Your hair is shorter," he said petting it.

"So is yours."

"Only a little." He started looking at me funny again until-

"Angus! Open up," a voice called outside the door. Angus sat there a minute before sighing and standing up to answer it.

"What are you yellin' for?"

"What the hell are you doin'? We gotta go," Malcolm said.

"Where?"

"Interview at ten. And now it's 9:40."

"Shit, should have come earlier."

"Shit, should have remembered."

"C'mon Mal, I don't wake up this early, when I do I'm out of it."

"Yeah sure. Hannah in there?"

"Yeah on the couch." Malcolm poked his head through the doorway.

"Mornin' Hannah!" he smiled and waved.

"Morning."

"She coming with us?"

"I don't know-"

"You coming with us Hannah?" I looked down at my pajamas and smiled back up at him. Malcolm laughed like the first time I did that. "Well hey. Angus ain't dressed either."

"He's in the band, he has to go," I said walking up to them.

"Yeah, he's in a band!" Malcolm exaggerated laughing. Angus shook his head at him.

"Leave me to get dressed Mal, I'll be out soon."

"Don't take too long." Malcolm left and Angus closed the door after him.

"Piss off Mal."

"I heard that!"

Malcolm walked down the hallway, down the stairs to the lobby. Phil and Brian were already to the car, but Cliff stood by the door waiting for him. "Hey Mal."

"Yeah?"

"Can I ask you something?"
