The radio plays commercials but I'm on the couch with mom, watching as she spells out my name in thick, bold red letters.

I let out a small giggle, not used to my new name yet. Mom looks at me and grins, ruffling my hair. "I'm gonna go check the mail, wait here sport." She gets up and goes outside.
"She said,"
My ears perked up at the soft, soothing sound. I looked over at the radio, tilting my head.
"I was seven, and you were nine,"
Slowly, I got up and walked over to the radio. The door opened, signaling that mom was back from her little trip to check for mail but I could care less.
"I looked at you like the stars that shined, in the sky, the pretty lights."
"Daniel?" Mom questioned softly. "What's this pretty noise Momma?"
"And our daddies used to joke about the two of us, growing up and fallin' in love."
I glanced over at Mom, who had a puzzled look on her face. "Have you never listened to music?" Music...What was that?
"And our mamas smiled, and rolled their eyes and said, 'Oh, my, my, my.'"
I shook my head quickly. "My old parents never allowed it. What is this song Momma?" She grinned. "Its called Mary's Song but people also call it Oh, my, my, my." I nodded slightly, understanding.
"Take me back to the house in the backyard tree, said you'd beat me up; you were bigger than me."
I walked back to the couch, curling up on Mom's side. She smiled and wrapped an arm around me.
"You never did, you never did."
A small yawn escaped my lips but I focused on the music, wanting to know how it ended.
"Take me back when our world was one block wide,"
Another yawn escaped the air but it wasn't from me this time.
"I dared you to kiss me, and ran when you tried."
I slowly drifted off into darkness, with my mother's arms around me.
