INTRODUCTION

What is Depression?

That word we throw around so easily nowadays. That word we use to describe anything from a bad day to an overwhelming inability to live life. But as anyone with depression knows, it is much more than any one word can describe.

It slowly takes over a person's life to the point where they forget how it all began. It is insidious, creeping up and building up over time. Little, unnoticeable things change at first, leading to bigger changes. Then, as if out of the blue, that famous black cloud is overhead.

Depression is when everything feels too hard. When you feel so low that things you previously enjoyed no longer hold that same joy. You wonder how you ever enjoyed anything at all. You wonder what other people have that you can't get a hold of. You find it harder and harder to get out of bed in the morning. You drag yourself through each day. You find it difficult to go to bed at night. The low is so low that it seems to take over, overwhelming you in a way that you could not have imagined beforehand.

Depression is initially a reaction. A reaction to a life that you never imagined would be yours. A reaction to stress and a seeming inability to change your situation. It is an in-acceptance of how things are or were. It is lack of self-care and a giving too much of yourself to others. It is a deep anger at an injustice or unfairness in life. It is a lack of energy to take any more of what life has for you. It is a deep sadness and regret. It is all of this and much more. We are not always aware of why it happens because of how slowly and quietly it sneaks up on us.

This movement aims  providing support and advice to empower all the people around the world who are affected by symptoms of mental health.

We want to improve the mental health of all people. We want to promote understanding, reduce stigma and to give a voice to those who have none. We aim to help individuals lift themselves out of the impacts of poor mental health, we seek to ensure that all people especially those with the fewest resources hold a good state of mental health to secure opportunities to succeed in life.

My POV:

I don't know why but people don't talk about depression, they get embarrassed about saying it and eats them up from within.

They don't have anybody to share there feelings and slowly as the time passes they become antisocial and anti human nature, they don't like being talked about or being advised about their mental problems.

Maybe we people are also the reason for their situation do you know why? Because we judged them every f*** time.

If they are fat, we judge them.
If they are skinny, we judge them.
If they are pretty, we judge them.
If they are ugly, we judge them.
If they are confident, we judge them.
If they are loud, we judge them.
If they are quiet, we judge them.
If they live, we judge them

But if they die, "Omg! I love him/her, they were such a great person" we say this.

So why don't we say the same thing to them when they are still alive to hear those words. Why don't we give them a shoulder to cry on? Why don't we treat them equal to us? Why don't we spend time with them, and get to know about their problems?

Let's start a change.

Let's do whatever we can for the society  may be a small change today can be transformed as bigger movement in future.

Let's promise ourselves to stand by them, to hear them.
Let them know that we care about them.
Accept them without judging them.

Even some of the smallest gestures and actions can go a long way towards improving your loved one’s symptoms and supporting them on their recovery and treatment journey.
