Chapter Thirteen.
"(y/n), I was wondering if you'd like to go to a premiere with us. .?" Ross asked. "It's optional to bring a plus-one. I wanted to ask you. Plus, Courtney's away for an acting gig. I mean, I'd still ask you anyway."
You chuckled. "I'd love to go."
"Okay, but just as--"
You smiled. "Just as friends, yeah."
Ross chuckled. "Great."
You nodded. "I guess I should go pick out an outfit. Should it be fancy?"
"If you want it to be." He shrugged.
"Alright. When is it?"
"Um, tonight." He replied, surprising you.
"Oh, okay. Let me go change." You smiled and entered the hotel room you shared with Rydel. You both we're best friends by now. You were best friends with the entire band.
After deciding on a pretty black dress, you took a shower, washing your hair also. You got out of the shower and dried yourself off before putting on a black bra and the dress.
You did your eyebrows and makeup. You even put on some red lipstick. You styled your hair before leaving the bathroom.
"Girl, you look hot." Rydel said, making you giggle.
"Thank you. So do you." You grinned. She wore a white dress that complimented her figure and had a belt of sparkles in the middle. She also wore beautiful makeup and styled her hair nicely.
"Thank you. But, we should get going." She put on a white heel before putting on the other.
"You're right." You glanced at your pair of black heels, wondering why you brought those.
Oh, right, for events like these. .
You put on the black heels. You could walk in them fine. But, you preferred vans and converse. Things like that.
You heard a knock on the door. Rydel opened it. You assumed the boys were here. You left the hotel room after Rydel. When they saw you, they said, "(y/n). . You look really nice."
Well, Ratliff just said, "(y/n), you look nice." Without the pause.
You thanked them, pink dusting your cheeks.
-Ross' POV-
(y/n) looked so beautiful. Her dress was really nice, but she was stunning. She always is-- What? I must be missing Courtney. I need to get rid of these thoughts about (y/n). We're best friends. And I have a girlfriend who is seven thousand miles away. Do I really want to do this? Do I want to be with someone who will always be far away for her career?
Now I'm not being fair. It's not right that I get to be living my dream and she can't live hers because of the distance. I won't care if we're away. She's living her dream.
"Ross!" Rydel yelled, startling me.
I blinked. "Sorry. What?"
"We're going to be late!" She exclaimed.
"Right. Sorry." I walked next to (y/n) into a limo. We all sat down as the driver started driving.
I started growing a bit nervous. I didn't know how people would react to the movie. This was kinda unlike me. Usually, I wouldn't think about it much.
(y/n) must have noticed because she held my hand lightly. "It'll be fine." She smiled.
I knew it was just as friends, so I held her hand and smiled. "Thank you."
"No problem. Um, you look nice." She said.
"Thanks. Why the compliment?" I teased, chuckling.
"I thought you'd like a distraction from the situation. So, I figured I'd make light conversation." She admitted.
I smiled. She was adorable. Why am I thinking this? Stop, Ross! You have an amazing girlfriend, Courtney!
My phone vibrated. "Sorry." I had an apologetic look on my face.
"It's fine." She smiled. She plugged in her earphones and selected a song to prevent from eavesdropping.
I answered the phone, seeing it was Courtney. "Hey, babe."
"Ross. ." I could tell she was holding back a sob.
"Courtney? What's wrong?" I asked, concerned.
"I. . I can't. ." She began sobbing.
"What's wrong? Did the fans--"
"No. ." She whispered, holding back another sob.
"Babe, what's wrong?" I asked.
"I can't. ." She sobbed again.
"Babe--"
"I can't do this." She cried.
"D-Do what?" I became filled with fear.
"Ross. ." She sobbed. A minute later, she sniffled and whispered, "I-I c-can't do th-this to you. ." She took a deep breath. "I kn-know it's hard. . To keep a relationship when you're far away. You c-can't go to parties or think girls are pretty. You can't dr-drink because you're afraid of kissing someone."
"I don't want to kiss anyone else--"
"And y-you miss that person, R-Ross." She choked out.
"I do miss you. But, you're living your dream, Courtney." I said.
"I kn-know, Ross. I know. B-But," she sighed. "You're living your dream. And neither of us want to give up our dreams. I think--"
"Please. I'll give up my dream." I begged. Hearing this, Rydel raised an eyebrow.
"No, Ross. I don't want you to. Please don't." She sniffled.
"Courtney, please. . Don't end this." I pleaded.
"I th-think we sh-should. . Goodbye, Ross." She hung up, leaving me speechless and heartbroken. We're done. I can't kiss her again and love the way her lips feel against mine. I put my phone away.
"Ross," Riker began. "Give her some time. She just needs to think. Long-distance relationships are hard. She might come back. Don't lose hope."
"That's the thing, Riker." I replied. "She doesn't need to think. Her mind's made up. My mind is, too. ." I tweeted:
You give someone everything and they throw it away for you to be happy. . When you're not.
---------------------------
I have nothing against Courtney. I hope they have a good relationship. But, I made then break up in the story. Because this is a Ross Lynch x Reader.
I love you.
