The sun flower gang

Wednesday i headed into work bright and early. I found my dad in his office. I hated to bother him but i was really getting kind of nervous about the date on Saturday night. "Oh hey come on in. I was looking at the work you did on the website again and i gotta tell you that it looks amazing. I mean it's way better than what the last guy did." He said. I smiled at his praise. "Oh i'm so glad. So i had a question..." I said. "Okay shoot." He said looking at me.

"So this date on Saturday i'm kind of nervous." I said. "Oh you don't need to be. Cam is a great guy. And look i'm sorry i jumped the gun on that. I heard him mention he was looking forward to coming and that he wished he had gotten a date but it was so late in the game i just thought maybe you'd like to come with him. I can cancel it." He said. "Oh no no, it's fine." To be honest i didn't like being single but i tried dating just to date and that never worked out. No, i needed to find the right guy.

"Oh good, hes a great guy." My dad said absentmindedly looking at his computer screen. "Okay great, i'm gonna go get back to work then." I said. I headed to my little office. Once Pandora was flowing i got to work.  I still needed everything to fill out the site. Info and such. I logged onto my company email. "Hey Marny, heres the roster for everybody hired here. Thanks!" Now i could email or text everybody. This was a train wreck. Literally. I wasn't sure how i'd get everybody together at once to take photos and do interviews.

I logged onto the Facebook and Instagram pages for the label. I made a post. "Whats your favorite band or artist on big shot records? If you could ask them anything what would it be? Comment below and i'll choose some questions to ask! Thanks." This would give people a chance to ask their questions. It would help me really it would. But it never occurred to me how many people would comment it was chiming so much i had to turn it off. I wasn't going to be able to get to the questions until next week at least.

I just needed to get to many things done for the site first. So I started plugging away on what I could. Lunch time finally. Subway was brought, even though it was warmish outside i needed fresh air. I saw Dylan outside skateboarding on the concrete. He stopped when he saw me take a seat on the ledge. "So you decided to come back?" He said smirking and taking a seat next to me on the ledge.  "Yea i figured yesterday didn't go so poorly. So skateboarding eh? You're a man of many talents." I said chuckling.

"I guess so, but y'know i'm better at music than boarding." He said shrugging. "So...you got a cookie huh?" He asked peering into my bag. "Two." I said pulling one out and handing one of them to him. "Hey a girl that shares her cookies that is rare." I rolled my eyes. "Please, if you found a girl who didn't share, you're dating the wrong type of girls." I said. He nodded his head thoughtfully. "You're probably right."

I finished the sandwich and finished my cookie. "Didn't they feed you?" I asked. "Yes but i ate my cookies." He said. "You seriously ate my cookie, after you ate yours..." I shook my head. "Maybe that's why girls never share their cookies with you." I said. "Could be." He frowned. "You know how to board?" He asked changing the subject. "Sounds mildly dangerous." I said. "Nah, come on." He said pulling me up. He set the skate board on the ground.

"Okay one foot on the ground and the other on the board kick off and once you're going just put your other foot on the board." He said. So i gave it a go. But as i thought, it was mildly dangerous. I fell onto my arm groaning in pain. "Oh no, please say it's not broken." He said running over to me. He knelt down on the ground next to me as i held out my arm. "Ow." I said. He turned it and inspected it. "Looks okay to me just gonna be a gnarly bruise." I said. "It's bleeding..." I said looking.

"I am sorry I did not mean for that to happen. But I always say come prepared." He pulled out a Band-Aid from his pocket and gently placed it on my elbow. Then he lifted my arm to his lips and pressed a gentle kiss to it. "There now it won't bruise as bad." He said as my breath hitched in my throat.

"Thanks I'm afraid I'm gonna have to leave the boarding to you though." I said backing up. "If you say so...." he stepped on the board and sped off. It was Wednesday and i still had a lot to do. "I need to get back to work, but I'll catch you later." I said. "I'll count on it." He winked. I headed inside. I started off printing all comments off. I found a stash of highlighters in every color. I'd make a key each artist would be a different color. Then I'd type up a new list that would be organized.

There was a knock on the door. Leslie walked in with a box and a bag. She was Richards assistant she also got lunch for everybody every day. "This is from your dad. I think he said it was a new camera? And these are from Dylan."

I took the packages from her in. Inside the bag. Cookies, how sweet. Then there was box of band-aids. I opened up the box and peered inside at the camera. "This is a nice camera he didn't have to do that." I said. "Only the best for Richard," Said Leslie. "Thanks Leslie." "No problem." She said shutting the door. I needed to start emailing all of the artist and set up a time to do the photoshoot and interviews.

But I'd have to schedule them one at a time. The first band to get back with me was the sunflower gang. I chuckled at the name. First thing i would ask them is why that name. They agreed to come do a photo shoot and an interview that afternoon because they were going to start tour soon. Great! I had them plan to meet me in a spare room.

The room was nice but there wasn't really a place to take the photo's, so i headed to dig through some closets. In closet number three i found a spare backdrop. Well it was kind of heavy and big but i wasn't going far. When i lifted the backdrop over my head i couldn't really see and it made me tipsy. But i made my way into the hall anyways.

"Woah do you need any help?" Called a voice. I peaked around around the backdrop to see Dylan poking his head out of recording studio. "Um, maybe yea." I said. He grabbed one end of the backdrop and lifted it up. Finally i could see and get a better grip on the backdrop. "Where we going?" He asked. "Oh just right here." I said pointing. We lugged the backdrop into the room. I knelt down inspecting the pipe on the edges as to how you'd put this thing together.

He knelt down next to me. "I like it." He said nodding. "It's not fixed stupid." I said shoving him and laughing. "Well then when you get it done I'm sure I'll love it." He said. "Don't hold your breath these look heavy." I said lifting up one pipe to slide it into the other but it was tough. "Here let me help." He said. "Well now are you sure you can do it?" I asked. "Please." He said standing up and flexing his muscles at me. My eyes went big. "Yep you're good, go head." I said stepping back. In minutes he had the backdrop completely assembled.

"Thank you, you're a lifesaver." I said. "Of course." He said. "By the way thanks for the cookies." I said. He grinned. "It was the least I could since you shared with me." He said. "And the Band-Aids?" I asked. "Eh hanging out with me might be dangerous." He said smirking. "Ah you assume I'll hang out with you again." I said. "I think I'm growing on you." He said. "Like mold?" I asked. "I wouldn't go that far now..." He said eying me suspiciously. I grinned. "Okay then." There was a rap on the door frame. "Sunflower gang in the houuuse!" Said a girl with red hair.

"I gotta get back to work, but i'll see you around." I said. "Yea you will." He winked. I chuckled shaking my head as he left the room. "Hey guys, i'm Marny it's nice to meet you." I said.

Four girls came in all as different as night and day. The lead singer had short textured red hair and freckles. Bright green eyes and she was super tall. The guitarist was short and plump with brown pigtails and bright blue eyes. The drummer had Blonde hair in a mess of curls and she was very curvy. The keyboardist had long flowing black hair, an exotic look. They took a seat so I could start the interview. I started record on the tape recorder.

"Okay so the name, where did you come up with it?" I asked. Sam, the lead singer spoke up first. "Well my grandmother was super into sunflowers and she died the day we found out we had gotten a record deal. We went to the funeral and sunflowers had mysteriously grown up around her grave. I mean I knew this was a gift from her y'know?" Sam said. "And we totally jumped on board with the name so much we all got sunflower tattoos!" Said Trace the Keyboardist. They held out their arms and hands.

"Oh that's so cool you guys! I'll have to get pics of those for the photoshoot." Sam had a tattoo on the underside of her wrist. It was crisp and clear. Trace's was much bigger it went up and around her shoulder and most of her forearm. It had lot's of dark lines and really just had a darker feel all together. Nadia the drummer only had a tiny one on her finger. And Fiona the guitarist had one on her ankle. So beautiful!

"So you guys are getting ready to go on tour, how do you handle four girls in one bus?" I asked. "Well we have our own space so we don't go crazy, as you know girls have a LOT of stuff." Said Fiona. "Yep and Trace probably has the most stuff. She has a spare bunk just for her clothes and shoes!" Said Sam. Trace giggled. "What can I say? I like to look good!" She said.

"What's your favorite song to preform?" I asked. "Scream." They all started saying at once. They broke into laughter. "Sorry it's just such a fun song!" Said Fiona. When i found out that i was going to be interviewing The Sunflower gang i had to just highlight questions for them. Obviously i used yellow. "Okay so these are some of the fan questions i have. Obviously i got a ton of are you singles and what kind of guy are you looking for." I said half rolling my eyes.

"Weeeell, Fiona and Sam are seeing someone." Said Nadia. "But Trace and i are single." She beamed.  "I want a sweet guy who's romantic maybe that's the song writer in me. He needs to be tall and handsome and maybe a little mysterious." Said Nadia. "Oh so you like the dark and daring type?" I asked. "Totally." She nodded. "I like the funny guy. One whos fun and were gonna have a good time.  Always keeping me on my  toes maybe even adventurous." Said Trace.

We went down to favorite food, most embarrassing thing weirdest fan gift and upcoming album and tour. Then i had them stand up by the background. The first shot was one of them showing off there tattoos. Then we did several of them being goofy, sexy and cute. "All done ladies, thank you!"  I said smiling at each of them. They left and i went back to the office. I plugged the SD card into the computer.

Then i went to there page on the site. I added the photos and then under the interview spot I started translating the interview. But i realized it was getting late and i was still typing. I groaned and leaned back in the chair stretching. I heard a knock on the door and looked up. Dylan was standing in the doorway with a bag full of food. "I saw your car in the parking lot as i was leaving and thought you could use some food." He said. "That'd be great thanks, i think i underestimated how long translating this interview was going to be." I said sighing.

"Any way to make it faster?" He asked. "Well there is a program that will input all of the recording into the computer and i just have to listen to it  back and fix the few flaws but it probably works best when spoken clearly and there were times when they spoke over one another." I sighed and rubbed my eyes. "I get that." He nodded. "I saw you drinking this on your first day." He said sliding over a Dr. Pepper. "Ah sweet cafiene. Thank you." I said taking a gracious sip.

"Well, i didn't know what you liked so i got spaghetti, because we eat a lot of fast food here and i thought it would be better, i don't know." He shook his head. "No, i love spaghetti thank you." I said opening the container he sat in front of me. I took a bite and it was still warm. "I didn't realize how hungry i was, you rock!" I said.

"No problem i was hungry to, it's the least i could do." So i hope your day has gone better. How's the dad front going?" He asked. "I honestly have no clue, i'm trying to pretend like it's normal like maybe i knew him my whole life because admitting that he didn't know about me makes me sad." "Woah woah wait, your mom didn't tell him about you? At all?" He asked surprised.

"Not at all, not only that she didn't tell me anything. And when I found out I was super mad. Who does that? And I tried to be understanding that SHE was embarrassed but this had little to do with her. I mean SHE chose to end things the way she did. She could have called him,  mean didn't he deserve the chance to decide for himself?" I asked.

"For sure, do you think he would of stuck around?" He asked. "He said he would but who can say for sure. He's a different person than he was when I was born." I said. "That's true, but he seems so decent y'know?" He said. "Oh i agree, he was really cool to give me a job and stuff because if I'm being honest I didn't really know what I wanted to do. But the best part is all of this makes sense." I motioned up and down.

"How so?" He asked. "I didn't get a thing from my mom this all came from my dad." I said. He looked down. "All of it?" He asked smirking. "Oh well those i got from my mom" I said laughing. "But I mean the eyes, the nose, the dimples...the hair color all my dad." I said shrugging. I finished the last bite of my pasta and stuffed the container into the garbage can. "You all done?" he asked nodding to the computer. "Almost, another thirty minutes I'd say." I shrugged.

"Okay well I'll get out of your hair, see you tomorrow?" He asked. "Yea, I'll see you then." I finished up with the interview then downloaded a trial version of the program. If it worked it would save me some time for sure. And maybe all of the stuff i was doing was to much but I was still trying to find my place I guess.

I turned the screen of yawning and heading out for the day.
