He's on something good

I got in super late and my mom had already cleaned up dinner. "Sorry I had to stay late." I said coming in. "No problem, do ya wanna go shopping tomorrow?" She asked. "For what?" I asked puzzled. "Didn't you say you had a dance Friday?" She asked. "Oh shoot, yes I guess I do. And a dress might actually be a good idea." I said laughing.

"I thought you might agree. Maybe we'll go get our nails done too." She said. "Oh that might be fun, I'll try come home right after work." I said. My phone chimed with an incoming text. "Hey Marny this is Jed Hill from Turner and Hill. We're free tomorrow. At ten if that works for you." He said. "Oh that'd be great thanks!" I said. "Sounds good, see ya then." And I'm sure my phone would be going off the next few days to set up times to meet.

The next day I had my tape recorder ready to go. I was jotting down a few questions I'd like to ask the country duo. I admit I was a big fan. But I  liked country music so. I heard deep laughter coming down the hallway. I looked up in time to see the duo come in the door. Jed was wearing a cowboy hat, wranglers, some boots and a plaid shirt. Russ Turner was wearing a t-shirt with a backwards cap totally laid back.

"Hey, how are you?" I asked smiling. "Better now." Said Jed. "I'm sorry?" I asked confused. "I didn't know you'd be so cute when I texted you that we were free today." Said Jed. "Me!?" I started laughing. "Don't sell yourself short, and forget Jed he had a procedure and he's on something. He hit on the mail lady out front she had to be close to ninety." Russ aid Laughing.

"Oh, do people know about the procedure?" I asked. "No." Said Jed. "Well am I allowed to talk about it?" I asked. "What do we get if we give you the exclusive?" Asked Jed. "Uh, well what do you want?" I asked. "Gimme a kiss." Said Jed. "I don't know you..." I said. "So what? Come on." He said. I rolled my eyes. "Look I'll give you a kiss on a cheek." I said.

"Done." he agreed. I kissed his cheek and sat back down. "Only because I'm a big fan." I said. "Oh so you like country music?" Russ asked. "Yea, the stories are so beautiful. They even make me cry." I said. "Okay top five songs that make you cry." Said Russ. "I thought I was supposed to be interviewing you." I said. "True, but now I'm curious." He said.

"Okay let me think, oh number one is definitely 'It's not supposed to go like that by Rascal Flatts.' I said. Number two 'Just a dream, by Carrie Underwood' And the rest are just happy songs. But they get to me. 'Rascal Flatts Ellsworth.'" "I've heard that one, so I'm confused as to why it made you cry."  Said Russ.

"Well at the end, when they are sitting at the counter. It says, 'he's going on and on about her. Bet she's right there right now.' I think it's so beautiful how much he loved her enough to talk about her like that. And number four is Front porch kind of love by Josh Gracin. Oh that's such a beautiful way of looking at love." I said. "I've never heard of that fellow." Said Jeb. "Uh, he was on American idol forever ago." I said. "Oh right, okay. Five." Jeb said urging me to continue.

"Well I have two more. Five is 'i got away with you.' by Luke Combs I mean he gets in trouble for all the stuff he did but with her he got away with her because he knows she's to good for him. And number six is 'my side of the fence....'" "By the other male duo that shall not be named." Said Jeb holding a finger up. I grinned. "If you say so, okay now it's my turn to ask the questions!" I said.

I hit record on the tape recorder. "So Jeb, you said something about having a procedure what was it?" I asked. "Nothing that big, sorry if I made it sound like it. I just had my gal bladder out and I have interviews and shows and stuff so I had to take something and yea, it makes me a little....mwah." He said blowing me a kiss. I rolled my eyes. "Okay, why do you think you needed it out?" I asked.

"On the road we tend to not eat so healthy sometimes, there just Isn't time. And I started getting real sick. So I made a quick check up thinking it wasn't a big deal but the doctor took a look at my scans and said my gal bladder was huge!" He said. "So now I just have to change the way I eat somewhat and I should be fine. Speaking of fine..." "Right, so how did you guys meet, and join the duo?" I asked. "Well we were high school buddies actually we both liked to sing and when we did it together it was like pure magic, well at least that's what our mamma's said." Said Russ.

"I would agree with your mammas." I said. I went down the list of questions from the fans. Which were a good bit. Then we did the photoshoot. "Hey why don't we get rid of Russ here and take some sexy shots of the two of us" Said Jeb. "How about you just get over there and smile." I said rolling my eyes. After a few minutes I had gotten a few shots. I thanked them and went back to my office.

I opened up the new program and stared the recording. It was going to take a while so I decided to jump online an make a post *New interview and photo shoot coming to Big Shot Records today. Check it out to hear all about Jeb's mysterious procedure.* I wrote. It only took seconds for people to start commenting. "What? Not Jeb!! I hope he's okay!!" "Poor Jeb, he's in my prayers." "Oh no, I knew he wasn't feeling well at the last show. He just looked off." This was great for big shot records. While the recording finished I worked more on the home page.

I found all of the new artists. I put a few songs by each other them that would start playing as soon as the page loaded. I hoped it would spark interest. The recording tapered off. I started it over as I went to the top of the transcript. I played it back and I only had to fix a few words. This was great, it was going to save me so much time. I tied up a few lose ends and headed home.

My mom was ready to go shopping. So we headed to the store. I spent thirty minutes looking at everything. I found five dresses I really liked. A pale pink one with lot's of lace. A navy one with lace sleeves and fitted bodice. A bright yellow one that was silk and flowy a bright red one that was tight and had a low back. But my favorite one was an emerald green dress. It had straps, a slight plunging neckline and a slit up to my thigh. But I liked my legs.

"That's to much cleavage." My mom said frowning. "Mom they all fit that way, you should know I got these from you." I said. She sighed. "Fine, and the leg?" She asked. "Hey I like them." I said. "Fine, it's a beautiful dress. Let's check out the shoes." I saw a beautiful sparkly pair. "Oh, wow...these shoes...are...fabulous." I said. "Get them." My mom said her eyes sparkling. "Oh no we can't afford them." I said. "We can with my promotion and your new job. I actually don't need you to help with the bills anymore." My mom said proudly.

"Really? Yay mom!" I said. "I only needed a little bit of help anyways." She said feeling bad. "And I never minded it for a second." I lied. She saw through it. "Yes you did, you resented me because I wouldn't tell you about your dad and get money and you missed out on a lot. I know this. And again I'm sorry." She said. "Were working on it." I said nodding. Once I checked out we headed to the nail salon.

Once my nails and toes had been painted a complimentary color we headed home. The next day at work I just spun my wheels. I was nervous about this date with Cam tonight. I hated being single and I hopped he was nice but to be fair my dad didn't know me, so he didn't know what kind of guy I liked. But dad's only wanted their daughters to date gentlemen. Not that I didn't want a gentleman I did but I also wanted a guy who didn't mind pushing me up against a wall and kissing me either.
