One
Before the first day of UA
My letter arrived this morning confirming that I will be a member of Class 1-A at UA High School. Not that I am too suprised, having a recommendation from the number two hero, a powerful quirk and training with said quirk since the age of five. Forced training though thanks to my father's want for power.
Most would be happy to get in or even to get a recommendation to the prestigious heroing academy. I, for one, am not; sure I had dreamt to attend when I was four and to get in without the recommend. But that was before she died. My best friend and twin sister.
We were planning to be heroes, together, without our father forcing us. We even wanted to take the entrance exam despite our father being the number two hero.
I sit up on my futon, "I am not going to be number one for him, I am going to do it for Azu." I promise "And I am going to do it with only Mom's quirk."
First Day of UA
I wave goodbye to my eldest sister, who dropped me off, as I walk through the gates of UA. It doesn't take long for me to find my classroom, considering it was quite large and with '1-A' stamped in big bold red letters. Here goes nothing. I slide the door open, there is a few students bthat had already arrived.
I go to the back where one of my classmates is sitting reading a volume manga as they wait for class to begin. I believe it is a she due to the little yellow dot [pin?] that is on her tie and not on mine. "Hello." she greets in a dull tone that is similar to my own but at a higher pitch as I sit to the right of her. "You like Bakuman as well?" I ask in my normal dull tone. "Yeah." she nods.
I turn to look at her more directly and stick my hand out "I'm Todoroki Shoto, bytheway." She gives me a smile as she turns and take my hand "Just call me Azula, I don't like using my family name." If my heart didn't stop at her introduction, then it definitely did upon my eyes meeting her own, they're a mirror image of my own: one grey and one turquoise. "Pleasure to meet you Azula." I release her hand and turn back to the front of the room. Could it be?
Our teacher comes in, or flops in, saying that if we are here to make friends then leave or something before telling us to change into our gym uniforms.
Everyone gets up, everyone that is aside from Azula. She might be waiting for less of a crowd. I don't though.
The class arrives at the grounds, aside from Azula. Our teacher, Aizawa Shota, tells us that we are going to be doing a physical assessment. Like what we have been since grade school. "And whoever gets in last place will be expelled. Immediately." he adds. There goes Azula's chance at being a hero.
"Wait aren't we missing someone?" a boy with glasses asks. Oh now you notice?
"No, Azula took the assessment yesterday because she doesn't want anyone knowing her quirk yet." Sensei says in a monotone.
"Probably because it's lame!" one boy laughs. Why does it feel like he just insulted my sister? for I have a strong urge to punch his face. But I supress the feeling, "Bakugo, you got the highest score on the entrance exam. What is the farthest you thrown a tennis ball?" the teacher asks the blond that spoke badly about Azula.
" 'Bout 70 meters." he replies. Our teacher goes into a rant/speech about how the government is trying to make everyone seem equal physical by not allowing us to use our quirks and what not before instructing to throw a tennis ball. "Anything goes as long that you stay in the circle." are the only rules.
"DIE!!" the boy yells, sending the ball with an explosion. The teacher shows us his phone and Bakugo's score: 705 meters!
This brings about a new round of excitement despite the threat made of expulsion.
After the assessment
Aizawa projects our rankings, I spot my name, third place. Yaoyorozu got first, I look at the name above mine: Azula. Just Azula, no family attached. Why is the school keeping her family name a secret? I ask myself.
"Oh and no one is getting expelled. It was just rational ruse to get you to try your hardest."
What?! "I thought you all knew," our first placer says "It was pretty obvious."
We go and change before going back to the classroom to grab the syllabus. When we arrive, Azula is no where to be found.
I leave the school, immediately calling my older sister.
"Hey Shoto, how was your first day?" she asks me. "Mostly uneventful." I reply getting on the bus.
"Did you talk to anyone?" perfect segway Sister. "Actually yeah, the girl that is to the left of me." I reply.
"Oo, a girl catching the eye of the great Todoroki Shoto? What's her name?" she tease a little.
"She said her name is Azula, not giving me her family. And Fuyumi," I pause before saying "I think she is our Azula."
899 words exactly. How the heck?!
