You go to class

"Good morning Taylor." I said hugging her. She hugged me back, before picking me up. "I have a surprise for you after breakfast."
"Really?" She nodded and smiled at me before setting me down on my chair.
"I bought Cocoa puffs." "The nice chocolate ones?" "Yes. Do you want some?" I nodded and Taylor gave me a bowl with cocoa puffs with milk.
"Thank you" I said to her while I started to eat, my feet swinging back and forth.
New Years Eve was six days ago and the last days Taylor and I spent with lots of cuddling, reading and playing games.
"You're welcome." She sat down and started eating her cereals as well.
I had a glass of apple juice as always, while Taylor was drinking a tea.
Mere and Olivia were eating their breakfast before running off and laying on their back in the middle of the room, in Olivias case.
I giggled and pointed it out to Taylor who started laughing as well."This cat is weird." I nodded. We finished our breakfast and I helped her clean the table before I looked at her expectingly.
"Where's the surprise?" She laughed before picking me up. "Come on it's upstairs." She carried me upstairs and stopped in front of a door.
"You ready?" I nodded and smiled at her. She opened the door. Behind the door was a room a perfect square.
The walls were in a light yellow except for one right between the two windows, which was black. In front of one window was a wooden table with a wooden bench, in front of the other was a bean bag with funny patterns.
On out left was a bookshelf with lots of storages and filing organizers. The other shelf was smaller so I could easily reach it and it was filled with lots of books. On the wall above the bookshelf was a poster showing the U.S.
On the other walls for posters as well. Right next to the door was a calender one where you could mark the days, weather, dates, months with magnets.
Next to it a big card of the world.
And there was a garland of the letters running around the wall.
"Its so pretty." I said smiling at Taylor who was watching me closely.
"I'm glad you like it, cause we're gonna spend lots of time here.""Why?"
"Sit down baby. I'll explain everything."
I nodded and after she set me down went to the bench while she sat down in the bean bag.
"You remember that I told you I'm famous and that there a lot of people who want to take pictures of me and people that are close to me." I nodded.
"Now that I adopted you they also want pictures of you, cause you are now the person closest to me." Makes sense so I nodded again.
"This means that I can't just send you to a regular school. I'm sorry baby. I wish I could but it's not safe, especially when you're still so young and don't know how to deal with those people." I nodded feeling a bit sad cause I really wanted to go to school and learn.
"But how am I gonna get smart?" I asked her, making her smile.
"You already are smart. All you need is to be educated, but this is why we're here. I'm gonna homeschool you. This room is your classroom and I'm your teacher." I smiled.
"Really?" She nodded and smiled back. And before she could prepare herself I had thrown myself into her arms to hug her.
"You're okay with that?" I nodded excitedly. "It's amazing. I don't need to leave you to go to school." I said while cuddling myself closer into her arms.
"Alright then let's get up. We've got a lot of work ahead of us as the normal school year starts in summer and we've got winter now, but I'm sure you can manage cause you can already read and know a lot of the basics." I nodded and smiled at her. I got up and sat down waiting for to tell me with what to start.
"So we have science, math, history and geography or language arts and of course fine arts. What do you want to start with?"
"History?" "All right. This program is from bookshark and is called history in literature so basically we read about history and learn this way."I nodded and looked at her.
"So today we start with the dinosaurs. Do you want to read or do you want me to read?" "Uhm you please?" "Alright but listen carefully." I nodded and smiled at her.
She picked up a book called the Osborne Children's Encyclopedia and started to read out the entry about the dinosaurs.
After she finished she looked at me.
"Well what do you remember?"
"Uhm that dinosaurs lived a really long time ago. Something to 65 Million years ago and that there are scientists that look at rocks and then find footprints and stuff like that and give it to other scientists that study those prints."
"Good job." She said giving me a high five and I smiled.
"Do you remember what the T-Rex eats?" "Meat and we know cause he had long teeth and claws."
"Yeah that's right." Taylor smiled at me.
"Now honest answer. Would you have liked to live in that time period?"
I thought about this for a moment before shaking my head.
"No. It's way to dangerous. I mean gigantic animals running around that could eat you." She laughed.
"Yeah me too."
"What do you think is there food that some of the first people have eaten that you still eat today?"
"Apples? Or berries? Oh and they hunted. But we don't go hunting we have the supermarket." I answered. Taylor nodded satisfied.
"Alright one more question than we'll do some reading. Do you think people in the past were less advanced as we are?" I remembered that line and shook my head.
"No there some scientists that say they were just as smart and creative." She nodded again. "You're doing such a good job." I smiled proudly.
"Now we have to read some book pages do you want to read on your own or together?" "On my own I think." Taylor nodded and showed me which book pages I had to read.
"I'll be right next door working a little bit. If you don't understand something or are finished or need help cause of something else just come over." I nodded and sat down in the bean bag starting to read.
I decided to start with the book called 'The Llama who had no pajama'. I only had to read one page so I was quick to finish this, those books definitely were alot easier than the ones I usually read but oh well.
The second book I had to read was the boxcar children. The first three chapters.
This took me a little longer but as it was only a few pages so after a short while I put it aside as well. I went to the next door and knocked. Before I had heard piano playing and singing but it stopped and Taylor opened.
"You're finished?" I nodded. "How did you like those books." "Hm they were easy to read but I liked the story of the boxcar children." She nodded as we sat down in front of the table again.
"See that chalkboard here. I made a weekplan so you know what we have to do in one week. And today on Monday you finished all your history so if you want you can cross it out." So that was the black wall. I nodded and she gave me a piece of chalk, before picking me up so I could cross it out.
"Now what's next?"
"You choose." I told her and looked up at her. "Okay I think we should do language arts next. Kinda goes with reading don't you think?" I nodded and she picked up a piece of chalk.
"This is probably very easy for you as you can read. But we'll see. Here is a list of words you think I can read them and you write them." I nodded and she started. The words were easy. All similar in the spelling but easy.
"Good job with your spelling." Taylor praised me. "That was easy." I told her and she smiled.
"I know. Now it gets harder. Do you know about consonants and vowels?" I shook my head yes. "Can you name the vowels for me?" "A, E, I, O, U." I said and looked at her. She nodded.
"Good job. You know a lot about your letters. Wanna know secret about spelling?" I nodded eagerly.
"Vowels surrounded by consonants or followed by one or more consonants are usually short. That's the rule we learn today." I nodded and looked at my words.
"Yeah makes sense it's not ba(h)t but bat. Short a." "Good job. But what is with a word like hit?"
"Uhm same rule." I said after writing it on the chalkboard. "Smart girl. Okay now it gets a little trickier. What about a word like hall?"
I wrote it down and looked at it.
"It's surrounded by consonants and followed by more than one so it's short too."
"Good job. Now let's work on your handwriting alright?" I nodded my letters weren't really pretty and easy to read.
"Sit down we have a work book here." I sat down and looked at the page it showed.
How to write the letter A. I took a pen and started to trace the line like it said. Then I went on to the next task where you had to write small and big As.
"How many pages do you want me to do?" I asked after I finished.
"At least B as well but if you want to do more you can." She said and I nodded.
While Taylor watched me and occasionally told me to redo a letter cause it was unreadable I did all the letters up to E. In the end my hand hurt, cause I've never written so much.
"You did a very good job." Taylor said and high-fived me.
"Almost finished with language arts we only have to read one more page." Together we read a short story called 'Pat is on his mat'.
"Do you think you can tell me story like this that I can write down?"
I nodded excitedly. Making up stories was fun.
"Okay once upon a time there was a couple. They were actually really nice people but they needed money so they decided to break into a bank. There they stole lots of money. So much that they knew that they wouldn't be able to get away so they hid it and marked it. Then the two were on the run till years later they came back and got the money. But then the woman called the cops, cause over the years she didn't like her man anymore, and while the cops arrested him she ran away with the money and the car. To this day nobody knows where she is." I ended my story and looked at Taylor who was still writing.
After she finished she looked up.
"Thats a very nice story. Very creative. I expected something about unicorns or fairies but a getaway car is alright to." I giggled at her face.
"If you want you can cross language arts for today as well." I nodded and did so. "Now math or science?"
"Math first." I said and she nodded picking up a book."Today we mostly focus on the numbers from one to twenty." I nodded.
"But first let's take look at our calender." I followed her.
"Can you tell me what day today is?"
"The sixth of January." I told her and she nodded.
"Where do you see that date?" I hestiated before pointing at the sixth.
Taylor nodded and put an magnet saying 'Today' on the six. Then I pointed at January. She nodded again and this magnet stated 'Our month'.
"Alright now what season do we have?"
"Spring." She nodded and handed me a magnet to put on myself. I did so while waiting for what would happen next.
"Can you tell me the weather we have today?" I walked to the window.
"Sunny but I bet it's cold. It was yesterday." She picked me up.
"Can you turn the weather clock on sunny?" I nodded and did so.
"Thank you. From tomorrow we'll do this first." "Okay."
Back at the table we started with the numbers. First we wrote down the numbers then Taylor asked me to color all the even numbers, which are the numbers that I could divide by two like four or six, in blue and the uneven numbers in red.
"Do you see a pattern?" I nodded.
"Red, blue, red, blue and so on. So uneven, even, uneven and so on." She nodded smiling at me. "Yeah and you know what. It goes up this way to the really high numbers." I nodded and smiled.
"Now we're almost finished for today. All you need to do is practice the numbers one to six." I nodded and started working on my numbers while Taylor cleaned up a bit around me.
"Finished." I said and showed her my numbers.
"Good job. They look very nice."
"Can we do science now?" She nodded and after we put the math book away she picked the science book up. "Let's see today we talk about ants." "Ants?" She nodded.
"But why they are boring." "Maybe you'll think differently after the lesson. Now sit down and listen I'll read you some pages."
She stopped after two pages.
"Now let's look at the tasks in the workbook before we continue reading." She showed me which one's I had to answer.
"The ant is an insect that lives in a group." I said answering the first task. The second was harder cause you had to name the different part of the ants body. But with some help from Taylor to spell everything right I got it. The third task was about how the body helped to survive.
"The feelers to smell and touch. The jaws to carry stuff and protect themselves and the feet to climb plants." I said while matching them.
"Good job. Pretty impressive huh?" I nodded and she smiled at me.
"I'll read the next two pages now. Then we'll do the next two tasks."
She continued reading and afterwards I answered the next two tasks.
"So we could either say that we're finished with science for the day or we could talk about the exoskeleton. What ever you want?"
"What's an exoskeleton?" My curiosity got the best of me.
"Alright more science. So your body has bones on the inside right?" I nodded. "Yeah so I'm more than just a skin. Like Lulu has the filling as her bones."
"Yeah that's a good comparison. But many bugs have their bones on the outside. This is called an exoskeleton." I nodded.
"Thats really cool."
"Yeah it is." She nodded in agreement.
"Now remember when we went ice skating and I made you put on a helmet and some weird looking protective gear?" I nodded.
"Do you remember which part of your body we wanted to keep safe?" "My head, fingers and knees." She nodded and smiled. "Good job. Those kind of function as an exoskeleton cause they protect you from getting hurt." I nodded. "Okay."
"Now I think this was enough sience for the day. Wanna go on to fine arts?"
"Sure." I got up and crossed math and science from our daily list. "Lets do art first." She showed me a weird picture.
It showed a town and a really weird sky. "What do you see baby?" "A town on a hill. It looks like they have really bad weather."
"Can you describe the sky? Are the clouds big or small? What colours did he use?" "The clouds are really big and they are mostly grey and black but at some parts they are blue or white."
"Good job. Do you know what we'll do now?" I shook my head.
"We're going on the roof and look at the sky to try to paint it with all the colours we can see." She picked up some papers and crayons and I followed her.
Looking at the sky was funny cause it was blue. Well at some parts lighter blue than on other parts but blue.
Taylor and I were sitting on the ground painting our skies.
"Look there's a plane." I said and pointed at before waving."Think they saw me?" "I'm sure they did. Can I see your sky?" I showed her my picture.
"Thats beautiful." She told me.
"I wanna see yours." I said and she showed me her picture. "Thats pretty." She smiled and took my hand as we walked back downstairs together.
"Well what is left to do now?" She asked and grinned.I shrugged.
"Music." She handed me a workbook before playing some music piece from the artist on the paper. Afterwards we talked about it and the musician.
"It's almost noon. We should take a break. Since we only need to do the practical part of music now." Taylor said and I followed her downstairs.
"Which days are we gonna do school?" I asked while climbing on my stool to help preparing lunch. "Monday till Thursday and on Friday we'll do nature study or when it rains visit museums." I nodded excited and took the bowl with cheese from that I should put in our sandwiches.
"That sounds really cool." She smiled at me. "I hope you like it. I don't want you to get bored." "No it's fun." I quickly said while putting cheese on the sandwiches.
"I'm glad that you like school." I smiled and watched as she finished of the cheese sandwiches. "There you go." She said five minutes later and put the plate in front of me.
"Thanks." Together we ate while I felt myself getting tired. I've never had to do so much in so short time, but it was fun. After lunch I helped cleaning up.
"Are you up for your first practical music lesson?" She asked and I nodded. Back upstairs I followed her into the room next to my school room.
Inside were dozens of instruments. Mostly guitars but there was a piano as well. "This one is for you." She said showing me a really small red guitar.
I carefully strummed over the strings. It made a sound and I started to giggle.
Taylor showed me how to hold the guitar and where to put my fingers and where to strum before she showed me the first chord.
"That's E minor." She said and I looked at her with question marks.
"Don't worry we'll talk about minor and major next week but for today just accept that it's called this way." I nodded and played the chord she showed me.
"Don't play the first string. It doesn't go with the chord." I strummed once again this time without the first string and it sounded really good.
For almost ninety minutes Taylor showed me chords and it was really fun, but in the end my fingertips hurt.
"Thats normal don't worry. Soon it won't hurt anymore." "You sure?" She nodded.
"What do you want to do now. We're finished with school for the day. So you're free to do what you want."
"I'm tired. Can we cuddle?" I mumbled stretching my arms into her direction and she smiled, before picking me up and carrying me downstairs to the couch were I finally fell asleep.
