Emilie PoV
"Mommy." I ran downstairs and skipped into the kitchen. Where my mommy and Joe were sitting, drinking coffee and eating some fruit. "Hey there my love." Mommy opened her arms and picked me up, kissed my forehead. Joe smiled at me, before picking me out of mommy's arms. "Good morning, princess." I smiled. "Morning Joe."
I cuddled closer to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. "I'm hungry Mommy. Can I have pancakes for breakfast?" I asked from Joe's arm. "Yes Taylor. Can we have pancakes for breakfast?" He asked and gave me a big smile. "Are you ganging up on me right now?" I nodded and gave Joe a really big smile.
"Alright. If both of you want pancakes for breakfast I guess I can whip some up." I squealed and clapped my hands. "Can we make them with whipped cream and sprinkles?" I asked and both Joe and Taylor nodded. "Of course we can, baby girl. Why don't you get dressed and maybe Joe can help you with your hair."
"Yeah mommy." I skipped back upstairs, where I put on a burgundy red pullover, black jeans and white socks, when I came back downstairs I smiled at the two grownups.
"How do I look, Joe?" The Brit smiled at me and helped me settle down on a chair. "You look absolutely beautiful. I can try to help you brush your hair, but I doubt I'm as good as your mommy." "That's okay." He took my pink brush and started to brush out my blonde locks. "Tell me if it hurts."
I nodded a little but Joe was really careful and it didn't hurt half as much as when I did it myself. "Do you want me to try and braid your hair? I know how to make two simple pigtails, I think."
"Okay, sounds good." He parted my hair into two main sections, before parting both of them into three smaller sections and starting to braid them. "Can you hand me a hair tie, darling?" I handed him a light pink hair tie. Mommy turned around to give us a smile, while Joe braided the other side.
"Mommy, look how pretty my hair is. Joe is really good at braiding." Mommy turned back around giving me and Joe a smile. "Yeah he's really good." I nodded and Joe smiled back at my mommy. "Can I have a second hair tie, love?" I handed him the dark pink one, while Mommy turned the Pancakes around.
"Breakfast is almost ready guys." I smiled and turned to look at her, while Joe helped her to set the table. "Alright. Dig in."
I started to eat my food, while Mommy and Joe were talking about today. Apparently there were some people coming over today, to celebrate with mommy that she releases her new album. "Who is coming mommy?" I asked between two bites. "Uhm my family and Auntie Selly." I nodded and continued to eat my food. "Kay Mommy. Can we make cookies?" She smiled and nodded. "Of course we can. Maybe Joe and your Auntie Selly will help us. She's coming over a little earlier."
"Really, when is she coming?" I asked, moving the last piece of food into my mouth. Mommy looked at her watch. "In about two hours. So you finish your breakfast and do your school work and then she'll be here I think." I nodded, before getting up, putting my plate by the sink. "I'll do my school work."
"Okay. You can come and ask for help, if you need help." I was already out of the room and down the hallway when I heard her. I skipped upstairs and started on my school work, it wasn't a lot, since I had done more than I needed yesterday and now only science was left.
The topic was bees, how they communicated how honey was made and a lot made. I started reading the five pages in the book, before I answered the six questions in the workbook. The first few were about how bees communicate, then about different jobs inside the beehive, similarities and differences about hives, nests etc.
I finished quickly and ran down the stairs. "Mommy I'm finished." She turned around from where she stood, prepping some food. "Really. Can I see?" I nodded and showed her my answers. "Good job." She said and gave me a high five.
"So now that all the work is done. Let's make some cookies. What do you think?" I nodded and turned to Joe, who was sipping coffee. "Can you help too?" He looked up and gave me a smile. "Yeah of course." He got up and helped mom to get the ingredients out. "What kind of cookies do you want to make?"
"Mhm Chocolate Chip or one with M&Ms." I said and watched as she pulled out M&Ms. "Let's do the M&M ones" I skipped over to her and helped Joe making the basic mix for the Cookies while Mommy started to make some food. "Let's put all the M&Ms in." Joe said and handed me the bag.
I giggled and just turned the small bag around and let all of the colored chocolate fall into the dough. Mommy looked over to us and raised one of her eyebrows.
"Did you put all the chocolate in?" She asked, Joe and I just quickly exchanged a glance. "Maybe." Joe said with a smirk and I just giggled. She just shook her head at us, before she helped us to put the cookie dough on the baking tray.
"Mommy can I paint a picture while we wait?" "Of course. I'll call you when they are here, okay?" I nodded and slipped away from the kitchen before skipping up the stairs.
I pulled out some pencils and started to color a pink butterfly, then another butterfly in purple next to it and then another one in light blue. I was really focused on my coloring, when somebody suddenly touched my shoulder.
My braids almost hit Auntie Selly in the face, when I turned around, letting out a little scream.
"Hey Emi." I took a deep breath and hugged her. "Auntie Selly. I missed you so much." She smiled and hugged me back, before lifting me up and setting me down on her hip. "Let's go downstairs. Your Mom tried calling you, but you didn't hear her." "Well I was painting. Look how pretty." I pointed down to the picture. "So pretty butterflies. I like the purple one a lot."
"Can we color downstairs?" She nodded and helped me gather all the important coloring things and the glitter. Mommy was talking to Granny and Pops, while Uncle Austin was talking to Joe. "Look who I found." Selly said and set me down. "Granny." I ran over to her and hugged her, before she handed me over to Pops.
"Hello love." "Hey Pops." I wrapped my arms around him. "I missed you, Granny and Uncle Austin." I said, while Uncle Austin picked me from his arms. "Well I missed you too, Princess." Uncle Austin said and I smiled. He set me back down and while everyone started to talk again.
"Auntie Selly, can we color now?" She nodded. "Of course we can. What do you want to draw?" She sat down next to me and pulled out some of the pencils. "Can we glue a lot of pages together and then paint a really big picture together?" I asked and she nodded. "Yeah let's do this." We glued the papers together. Two rows with four papers in each. "Now what kinda picture do we want to draw?" She asked.
"Maybe we can paint unicorns with wings in the sky and faeries on one side and then mermaids in a lake on the other side." I saw that mommy was looking over and waved at her, she waved back. "And we can put glitter on like the wings and the tails." Selly said and I nodded excitedly. "Yeah. Let's do this."
I grabbed a pencil and started drawing a lake and mermaids while Selly started drawing faeries. Then we moved onto painting the sky with lots of Pegasus. "Mommy, look. It looks so pretty." Mommy walked over and looked at the picture. "Woah, it looks really pretty. You're doing such a good job with that picture." I smiled at her and looked at Selena, who smiled back at me.
"Can we put glitter on now?" She laughed and we started to put the glue in the places where we wanted glitter. Blue and green for the mermaids, pinkish and purple for the rainbows and golden horns and white glitter for the unicorns. While we finished our picture the others started setting the table around us. "You guys, are you finished coloring?"
I looked up and saw Joe looking at me and Selena. "Hmm yeah I think so. Look how pretty the picture is." He smiled and walked over to me, putting one of his hands onto my back. He looked over the picture and studied it like it was a precious work of art. "I think it's wonderful. It's really beautiful, I especially like the color choices you went with for the wings and the mermaid tails."
"Really?" I asked, looking at him and he nodded. "Yeah you guys did a great job." I beamed at him and he ruffled my hair. "Maybe we can find a frame for it, so we can hang it up or something." "Yeah can we do that please?" He smiled again. "But for now let's clean up."
I helped Joe and Selena to put all the coloring things away, while the others continued to set the table. "So you guys we made some cookies and we've got tea and coffee." Everyone started to gather around the table and take their seats. Mommy put the plates with the Cookies down and all of us started eating. "I like these cookies."
Granny smiled and showed me the M&M Cookie. "Thanks. Joe and I made them." I smiled at her and took a bite out of a cookie. The grown ups were talking, while I was happily eating cookies. "Emi. If you continue to eat all the cookies, you won't be hungry later for dinner." Joe said, making Mom look over. "He's right love. One more cookie and then you've had enough until after dinner okay?"
I pouted looking up at her. "But mommy. They are so tasty. I really want more." She raised an eyebrow. "Emily. We can keep some for after dinner, but for now that's enough." "But I want more." I said and crossed my arms in front of my chest, looking up at her angrily. "Emily, you've had more than enough cookies. Now please stop with that attitude." I looked down sadly, I really wanted more cookies, but I really didn't like mommy being angry. "Okay." My legs were swinging back and forth and I took the last cookie I was allowed.
"Thank you." She returned back to her conversation and I nibbled on the cookie, when suddenly someone dropped a cookie on my lap. I looked up to see Uncle Austin giving me a cheeky side smile. After I finished my cookie I took the other one up and took a bite out of it. "Emily. I said one cookie." I heard mommys voice and I flinched looking at her.
"I'm sorry. I'll just finish this okay?" She shook her head. "No Emilie. You're not finishing this cookie. Put it down and maybe you can have it after dinner." I glared at her. "But why?" "Because you can't just eat tons of sweets. You also need to have normal food and if you eat a lot of sweets, then you won't be hungry later."
I just crossed my arms in front of my chest holding onto my cookie. "But mommy please." She shook her head again. "Emilie I told you. If you don't put the cookie down now, you'll go to your room until dinner." I sighed, this wasn't fair. I just wanted a cookie. This wasn't a big deal.
"I'm sorry." I put the cookie down and waited until the adults stopped talking. The whole time I didn't say anything and just waited for them to finish. "Can I go upstairs, please?" I asked quietly and slipped from my chair, looking down. "Are you sure? We wanted to listen to the record before dinner. Don't you want to listen to the music with us?" I shook my head and left for upstairs.
Taylors Pov:
I watched as Emilie went upstairs, before looking at my mom. "Was I too strict with her?" But my mom shook her head. "No. You did the right thing." I nodded while trying to think about what happened.
"Then why did she react that way?" I asked her, trying to figure out what made Emilie upset. "Taylor, love, did you ever have to punish her? Or as in this case tell her to stop doing something?" Joe suddenly asked and I thought about it.
"No, I don't think so. I mean I told her to stop dangerous things, but never like this." I mumbled looking at him. My mind went into overdrive, maybe she thought I was mad at her or maybe she thought she'd get punished worse. "I'll go check on her." I told them, before looking at Joe. "Can you set up everything?"
He nodded and gave me a quick peck on the lips. I quickly followed Emilie upstairs, where I found her sitting on her bed. She wasn't crying so that was a good thing. "Hey sweet girl, wanna tell me what's wrong?" She looked up at me and bit her lower lip.
"Are you mad at me?" At that moment she looked so scared and small that all I wanted to do was gather her in my arms. "No, I'm not mad." I thought about how to explain it the best. "I was mad at first, when you still decided to eat the second cookie. But then you listened and now I'm not mad anymore." She nodded a little.
"I don't like it when you're mad. It's scary and when people are mad they hurt me." Her little sentence broke my heart. "Oh Emilie. I'd never hurt you. Not even when I'm mad. But in all honesty I don't like to be mad at you either." She nodded a little and looked up at me. "I love you mommy."
She said and I smiled, opening my arms for her. "I love you baby girl, so much." I picked her up and carried her downstairs with me. "Let's listen to the new music with our friends." She nodded and once we were in the living room I sat down next to Joe, who immediately opened his arms to pull me into his side.
Emilie sat down on my lap and cuddled herself into me. My dad pressed play on the music file opened on my laptop and for the next few hours we listened to the new record. Emilie cuddled into my chest, closing her eyes, she was getting tired, and Joe put her arm around my shoulder pulling both of us closer to him.
"Hey Emi. Could you get off my lap? I need to prepare dinner." I mumbled into her hair. "Kay." She sat up and held her arms out to Joe, who gently pulled her to his chest, where she laid her head down onto his chest. I smiled as I watched my little girl cuddle into Joe and him pulling her closer, wrapping his arms around her.
Looking around the room I saw my parents and brother talking to each other. Selena got up as well. "I'll help you prepare dinner." I gave my best friend a smile as we left for the kitchen. "Emilie seems to like Joe." "Yeah she does. They get along really well and I think ever since they spent some time alone in London they bonded really well."
She smiled as she handed me the lasagna I had prepped this morning. "That's really great. I'm so happy for you." I smiled at her. "Thank you and thank you for helping me with Emilie and making the right decision." She smiled back. "Of course you're my best friend, well more like my sister." She started to prepare a salad while I started to set the table.
"You're like my little sister too. I mean you're Auntie Selly." I winked at her and she laughed a little. "That's right. I've got Auntie rights. You can't ever keep the little one from me."
I laughed. "As if I would. You know when we didn't meet up for a while, because we both had work, Emilie asked for you all the time." Her smile widened. "I missed her too and well you too and the kitties." I gave her a hug, which she returned. "How long are you staying by the way? I'm sure Emilie would love it if she'd be able to spend time with her favorite Auntie."
Her smile widened. "I'm not sure. I have like four more days till I have to be back at the studio I think. So I could stay a little longer." "Yeah we'd love to have you with us longer." "Awesome, I'll stay a little longer. Maybe if Emi is okay with it I can watch her one evening, so you and Joe can have a date night."
I chuckled a little. "I mean I would appreciate it, but let's not get ahead of ourselves." We went back to the living room, waiting for the alarm to go off. Emilie was almost asleep in Joe's arms, my mom and dad were talking to Austin about something that had been in the news recently.
I sat back down next to Joe, brushing some of Emilie's hair back out of her face. "Hey. Think you can stay awake? Dinner is almost ready." Emilie opened her blue eyes, she looked so sleepy and exhausted. Her eyes almost closing again. "Mkay Mommy." She mumbled nuzzling her head into Joes chest again. I watched as he gently helped her sit up.
Her fists rubbed over her eyes and she blinked around. Eyes drowsy of being so tired. Selena sat down on Emilies other side and watched the sleepy child. "Hey Emi. Your Mom asked me if I'd like to stay a little longer so we could do something fun. Would you like that?" Emi nodded and stretched her arms out. "Yeah can we go to the zoo?" She asked and Selena hesitated. "Sure if your mom is okay with that." I nodded.
"I'm sure we can go to the zoo." Emilie smiled a little before trying to cuddle back into Joe, just as my phone went off. "Guys our food is ready." I told the others, while walking towards the kitchen and getting the lasagna out of the oven. Emilie was barely sitting up right, she was so tired.
I put some food onto her plate, before putting food onto the plates for the others. "Well dig in." I said and smiled in the group. While Emilie slowly started to ate her food most of us were eating a lot faster and engaging in small talk. "Mommy I'm tired." Emilie mumbled sleepily. "I know baby. Do you want me to take you upstairs or do you want another cookie for dessert?"
"Cookie please." I nodded and after cleaning the table I got the cookies, handing Emilie one, that she immediately started to nibble on. I waited till she was finished before I decided to bring Emilie bed, she was almost asleep on her chair.
"Hey you guys. I'm gonna bring Emilie to bed." I got up from my chair to carry her upstairs, but Joe was faster and picked her up. "Let's get you to bed darling." I followed him as he carried Emilie upstairs. He sat her down on the bed and I started to help her change into her Payjama. Joe stayed in the room but far enough away to give us privacy. "Ready for bed, sweet girl?"
She nodded and pulled her stuffed bunny Lulu closer to her chest. I smiled as she snuggled up under the blanket. Joe stepped a little closer. "Good night Emilie." He said and Emilie smiled a little. "Nighty Mommy. Nighty Joe. Love you." She mumbled sleepily. Before cuddling back into her pillow and closing her eyes. I looked up at Joe in surprise. "Goodnight Emi. I love you too."
She smiled with her eyes still closed. Joe and I left the room and as soon as the door was closed behind us I turned towards him. He was beaming. "She said she loves me." I smiled back at him, before leaning into his opened arms.
"She does. She loves you a lot, just like you love her. She knows your a safe person and an adult she can trust." I explained Emilies recent behavior towards him.
"But she'll probably lash out and try to see your boundaries and how far you are willing to go for her. And she'll probably be scared that you'll want to send her back so she'll be scared that what ever she does wrong that you'll be mad and send her away." I said closing my eyes inhaling his scent.
"Then I'll push back. I love her like she's my own. I'll stay." He said back, while holding me close swaying from side to side.
