Peter losing Wendy
Emilie P.o.V.
December 2016
When I woke up I was irritated. Where was I? It was so warm and cozy so I definitely wasn't at the orphanage.
Two of the walls were painted in white, one in light blue and the one with the windows in a darker blue.
The floor was wooden, but two rugs made sure that it wasn't to cold.
The bed I was sitting on was really big, like for two grown ups. There was a big closet in the corner of the room and on both sides of the bed were side tables, with lamps.
It was a really pretty room, probably one of the prettiest I've ever seen.
The sun light was coming through the window and white curtains.
I got up from the bed and started to walk towards the window. It was way to high so I pulled a chair that was standing in the room to the window, before climbing up and looking out.
I could see the cars going by and busy people running around.
"Emilie. What are you doing? You shouldn't climb on the chair." I heard a voice and turned around quickly.
I started to tumble. The woman started to run and catched me before I fall down.
"You could've gotten hurt." She said and now I started to remember. I had walked to the bridge and Taylor had took me home with her after calling the orphanage. Taylor had set me down and was looking at me worried.
"Why did you climb up there, sweet girl?" She had kneeled down in front of me. "I wanted to look out of the window." I said and shrugged.
"Well it's not very good to climb on chairs for such a little girl." She tickled my tummy and I started to giggle.
"Do you want to make pancakes?" Taylor asked me and I nodded. She held out her hand for me and I grabbed it.
We walked to the kitchen were Meredith was eating cat food.
"Morning Meredith." I crouched down and petted her. Taylor had started to get the things for the Pancakes.
"Do you want chocolate in your panckaes?" I remembered the sweets I had yesterday and immediately craved the feeling.
"Yes please." She nodded.
"I'll pick you up and set you down on the counter. Alright?" I nodded and Taylor picked me up.
She sat me on the counter. "I'll weigh everything we need and you'll put it in the bowl. Then we'll mix everything." I nodded and watched as Taylor weighed the ingredients.
She handed me the ingredients and I put them into the bowl.
"Alright. Let's mix everything." We used the mixer. Taylor got me a chair and set me down.
"You can mix everything. I'll hold the bowl." She said and handed me the mixer.
I started it and giggled. It was going so fast. Taylor had put one of her hands on my back and the other held the bowl.
After a while I stopped.
"I think you did a very good job sweet girl." Taylor said and handed me a small bag of chocolate chips.
"Here you can put in how much you want." I nodded eagerly and put in half of the bag.
"Can I put more?" She smiled.
"As much as you want."
I giggled and put in the rest of the chocolate.
Taylor took a spatula and mixed the chocolate some more.
"I'll bake them now. Do you wanna go and play with Mere?" I nodded and she set me down on the floor.
I ran over to the cat and started petting her. The cat meowed and I giggled.
I didn't know how long it took for Taylor to bake them, but all the time I played with Mere.
"Emilie the pancakes are ready. Let's eat." I got up and walked to the table where I climbed on the chair.
"Here you can take as much as you want."
Yeah. No. I was only going to take one.
I took one bite and smiled.
"Is it good?" I nodded, still smiling.
It took me a little while but I finished the pancake.
"You can take another one if you're still hungry." Taylor said.
I hesitated. "I can't eat all of those pancakes." She said with a smile.
"You sure?" She nodded and I took another one.
The two pancakes were more then enough. "You're done?" I nodded and smiled. "Do you want to watch a cartoon while I clean up and call the orphanage?" I shrugged.
Taylor sighed before walking to the TV and turning it on. She switched channels a few times before stopping on a kids channel.
A show about a princess was playing.
"What's that?" I asked, not even realizing that I did.
"Uhm it's called Sofia the first. Do you want to watch this?" I could hear the smile in her voice. "Yes please."
I walked to the couch and sat down.
"Okay I'll clean up and make some quick calls. Tell me if you need anything." She said and went to the kitchen, while I started to watch.
I was in the middle of the second episode when she walked back in.
"Hey sweet girl. Are you having fun?"
I nodded, still fixated on the screen.
"Okay. I called Ms. Higgins." She sat down and smiled sadly.
"She said I can bring you home whenever I want to. So I told her I'll bring you home later today." I nodded.
"So what do you want to do today? We could read, play games, bake or watch movies."
My eyes went wide. I absolutely loved reading. It was the one thing I'm quite good at and loved it. Another one of my roommates teached me, but still I wasn't really allowed to read in the Orphanage. Only when I was completely alone, I could get myself a book to read it.
"Can we read?" I could hardly contain the excitement in my voice.
"I barely get to read." I added my eyes now fixated on her. "You can read?" She asked and I nodded. "I was taught a while ago." I explained her.
"What do you like to read?"
"Dunno. I only get to read the school books of the older girls." She smiled sadly before opening her arms.
"Come here sweet girl." I carefully moved closer to her. She pulled me into her arms and I stiffened.
"Breathe. It's alright I only want to cuddle a bit." She mumbled into my ear.
After a few seconds she let go of me. "Do you want to go pick out some books at the bookstore?" She asked me and I nodded excitedly.
"Well let's get you dressed." I grinned at her, running towards the room I had stayed in the night prior.
The clothes I had worn before were laying on one of the tables. Taylor had followed me.
"Do you want me to do your hair after you got dressed?" I nodded and started to dress myself while Taylor got dressed in her room.
When I was back in the living room I waited for Taylor.
"How do you want your hair?" She asked and I just shrugged. "Do whatever you want."
She nodded and I sat down in front of her and she started to brush out my hair.
She started to braid from the front and put an elastic in when she reached the back. She finished the two braids.
"Almost done." I waited.
"One second. I'll make a picture to show you what I did."
She showed me her phone and I smiled.
"Thank you so much. It's very beautiful."
"You're very welcome. Lets get going."
On the outside a car was waiting and Taylor immediately pulled me to the car with her.
"Get into the boaster seat. I'll buckle you in." She said and got into the car behind me before quickly closing the door. She leaned over to me and buckled my seat belt.
"Okay we can go now." She sad to a man sitting in the front. "Of course Ms. Swift." He started to drive and I had to bite my lip to not squeal in excitement.
"You okay there Emilie?" Taylor asked and I nodded.
"Never been a car." I said looking how fast the outside was going by. She started to laugh but grabbed my hand. "Do you like it?" I nodded it's so exciting.
We drove for a little while and I just watched the trees passing by. "Miss Swift. We arrived. I'll wait for you here."
"Thanks for driving us." Taylor said and got out of the car before unbuckling my seat belt and helping me out of the car.
Taylor took my hand and we walked inside the book store.
"You can go choose a book. Just stay close enough to me that I can see you." Taylor said and I nodded before looking around.
Taylor was looking at some books herself and I was standing in front of shelf with loads of children books. I didn't even realize that there were so many different children books.
"Did you find something?" Taylor said standing behind me making me drop the book.
"Dunno." She smiled and picked the book up I had dropped.
"Peter Pan. That's a very good book. Would you want to read this?" I nodded. "If it's not to expensive."
She just smiled.
"No it's not. You want another book?" I looked at her."I can choose more than one book?" "If you want to." She said
"Really? I don't even own one book." I mumbled.
"Well now you can choose some."Taylor said picking me up. "Now you can look at the upper shelfs." She added.
I quickly found another book. It was called Matilda. I showed it to Taylor and she smiled.
"You want another one?" I shook my head. "No thank you." I said and Taylor carried me over to the counter to pay.
She set me down and paid for the books.
"Alright. Let's get back to the apartment." Taylor said picking both me and the books up.
Back in the car she buckled me in and we drove back to her apartment.
"Miss Swift we arrived." The car stopped and we got out of the car.
Taylor took my hand and we quickly went to the door.
I didn't really know why we always walked so quickly, but I wasn't gonna ask till she was walking slower.
She closed the door behind us and immediately smiled.
"Let's go upstairs. Do you want me to carry you?" I nodded remembering my struggle yesterday to get upstairs.
"Yes please. That'd be very nice." She smiled and picked me up.
She walked upstairs and after setting me down when we reached the upper floor she unlocked the front door.
Taylor held the door open for me and I went inside.
Just like yesterday we put our shoes aside and Taylor hung up our jackets.
"Do you want a tea or hot cocoa?"
I shrugged and set on the couch petting Olivia.
"You really like the cats. Don't you?" I nodded at her question still petting the cat.
"Have you ever had hot cocoa?" I shook my head. "It tastes like chocolate. Do you want to try it?" I nodded excitedly.
"I'll go get some. You pick the book we wanna read first."
I nodded and looked at the two books.
They both sounded nice but Taylor had already said that she liked Peter Pan. So maybe I should just choose this one.
Taylor sat down and put two mugs with a dark brown drink on the table. Steam came from the mug.
"Which book is first?" She asked leaning back into the couch. I showed her Peter Pan.
"Wanna take turns? I'll read one page for you and then you'll read the next one?" I gave her a weird look. "You want to read together?"
She nodded and gave me a smile.
"If you want. I'd like to read for you."
I nodded. "Nobody has ever read a book for me." I said and realized how sad my voice sounded.
"That's gonna change today." Taylor said and took the book from me. She also opened her arms for me so I could read in the book with her.
"Come here." She added and I moved closer towards her. I put my head on her chest so that I could easily read with her.
"Is this okay?" I asked her and she nodded before putting an arm around me.
She started to read the first page to me and I listened carefully. After the first page I started reading the second page.
Taylor was listening to me.
"You're good at reading." She said looking at me. "Thank you for saying that." "You're very welcome."
Over the next few hours we read the first few chapters of the book and I was completely entranced by it.
"Its almost time to bring you back home." Taylor said and I could hear the sadness in her eyes.
"Kay. Thank you for spending time with me and for reading with me." She smiled at me.
"I'm very lucky that I got to spend time with you." She said giving me another hug before we put on our shoes and went to the car waiting outside.
We drove twenty minutes and over two bridges before I started to get tired.
"I knew there was at least one bridge." I said making Taylor giggle. I leaned my head against Taylor and fell asleep.
Taylor P.o.V.
Emilie fell asleep on the way to the orphanage. So when we finally got there I had to carry her inside.
"Hey uhm I'm looking for Ms. Higgins. My name is Taylor. I found Emilie yesterday im here to take her back."
The girl who I had talked to was staring at me.
"Oh my God. You're Taylor Swift." I gave her a smile and nodded. "I'd love to take a picture with you but right now I'm carrying Emilie so it's a little bit hard." She kind of looked annoyed but I shrugged it off.
"Can you get Ms. Higgins for me? After I put her down I'd love to take a picture with you." She nodded and went away to get the head of the orphanage.
A middle aged woman came in. Her hair was black, but had some white streaks already. Her face seemed very strict and she didn't look like she smiled a lot.
"You're the one that found Emilie am I right?" I nodded and looked at the sleeping girl in my arms.
"Can I bring her to her room? She's asleep."
"You can just wake her up. It's alright. She shouldn't have fallen asleep on you."
The way she talked left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't feel comfortable at the thought of leaving Emilie alone in this place.
"No she didn't get much sleep last night. I'll take her to her room." The woman sighed and nodded.
"Mary-Lou. Show her were Emilie sleeps."
The girl I talked to earlier had come back and nodded.
"Follow me." I nodded and followed her to the stairs. She led me up to stories before string in front of a small wooden door.
"She sleeps up in the attic." The girl just said without saying another thing.
"In the attic?" The shock was evident in my voice. Who would let a four year old sleep in the attic?
But the other girl had already walked downstairs so I just opened the door.
I looked around to find a light switch but couldn't find one so I followed the stairs. In the attic itself I finally found the light switch. It was a string to pull at and after I did the dark room was illuminated in weak light.
The room was dirty and really cold. Looking around I realized that there wasn't even a proper bed for the girl to sleep on.
No wonder that she was irritated to sleep on a bed and get a proper blanket.
"My poor, sweet girl." I mumbled and gave her a small kiss.
I noticed a small makeshift mattress in the corner.
So I decided to put her down there. After I layed her down I took my scarf off. It wasn't a very thick one so I knew that it wouldn't do much to keep her warm but it was all I could do at the moment.
"Good night sweet girl."
