Chapter 7

Silence is the most crucial part in a music composition. One never knows if it will lead to an uproar of noise, one that describes the victory of a battle, the triumphs of war, or the telling of fear as one runs from a monster...or if it will tell us the sad story of death, longing, and sadness. It leaves one to speculate of what is to come.

In the Shinobi world, silence is often foreboding and dangerous, often time leading to one's demise, in which case, leads people to fear the absence of noise.

This is why my father named me "Silent Siren", for I am the calm before the storm, the danger that is lurking in the shadows, the being that causes the world to go silent before breaking into a beautiful and dangerous song.

I only saved my songs for those who I wanted to capture quickly, but want to torment as much as possible before they perish. People have called me sadistic, but who are they to talk? I come from a clan that values relationships of any kind, whether as friends, lovers, or even business partners.

This makes us severely emotional and quite easy to antagonize.

Don't blame me if I give someone what they deserve.

Deidara of the Akatsuki is going to face a rather excruciating death. There is no way that I'm letting him leave alive after what he has done to Gaara. The damned bastard kidnapped my friend which in turn lead to his death. Neither Kami or Jashin will allow me to have mercy on this piece of filth.

As I stand here thinking of the perfect Genjutsu to use on this bastard, I feel Naruto's Chakra flare to an even greater extent, causing me to flinch from the sheer force of it. Because I have refined my Sensory skills to such a point, too much Chakra fluctuation at one given time can cause me to have one wicked headache. At times, I remember even getting nauseated when particularly strong opponents let all of their Chakra presence out a one time. If the nine-tails ever got ahold of Naruto to such an extent, I would probably end up passing out altogether.

I close my eyes briefly to get rid of my temporary dizzy spell as Naruto charges at Deidara. Once the dizziness disappears, I snap my eyes open and use Naruto's attack as an opportunity to situate myself in an area that allows my song to travel better. Putting away the Chakra blades that Asuma gave me, I begin to mull over a plan.

"You're not taking Gaara!" yells Naruto, his voice filled with rage.

Deidara looks down at Naruto from atop his clay bird, his voice laced with contempt but also confusion.

"You are quite the oddball. A Jinchuriki is supposed to be sullen and misanthropic. And this Gaara is no less strange. I've never seen a host so beloved as he."

I snap my eyes over Akatsuki member, my eyes widening in disbelief. All off the Jinchuriki are treated this way!? Suppressing a growl, I rapidly begin to fill my throat with intense amounts of concentrated Chakra. Looking towards Kakashi, I try my hardest to meet his gaze.

When his eyes flicker over to me for the briefest moments, but that moment was all that I needed. With one of his hands hidden behind his back, he sends me a message in which I am the only one able to see due to my vantage point.

We'll keep him distracted.

"To date, we've destroyed two Jinchuriki hosts...not including him, of course. But no one ever tried to save them. Not their friends, not their neighbours not a soul..hmmm? In fact, to some their deaths came as a relief." A loud laugh erupts from Deidara as he talks about the other people her murdered.

I, unfortunately, and regrettably, cannot feel disgusted by this, for I have laughed at my enemies misfortune and death one too many times. Especially when I allow the madness to take over. Curse Ketsueki and his damn emotional problems...

"Perhaps you can't ignore one of your own kind? You feel too connected to this pathetic creature hmm? Well Anyway, when I removed his one-tailed beast, it was the end of Gaara. The point is, you are doomed..all the same." Yelled the blonde Akatsuki member.

Growling, I feel myself snap as I finally accumulated the proper amount of Chakra in my throat. Without using any of the Chakra that I stored, I raise my fingers to my lips.

"You filth...You're all dead." Snarled Naruto.

"Naruto cover your ears!" Yelled Kakashi.

At that precise second, I let a loud and ear piercing whistle, one that caused everything to go silent, save for the pained yelled of Deidara.

"What the hell is that sound?!"

With eyes closed and face scrunched up in pain, Deidara throws multiple of his explosives in my direction. Causing me to jump out of the way, and end my whistle altogether.

"Kakashi, Naruto! grab Gaara!"

Putting my fingers back to my lips, I let out another whistle, this time with small amounts of Chakra laced into the sound. Deidara's pain filled groans and yells are heard yet again, but this time, instead of throwing explosives, Deidara and his bird take off with Gaara.

Growling, I jump away from my current spot and chance after him, Naruto and Kakashi coming up on either side of me. "Kakashi, I have a plan, but in order for it to work, the both of you need to be able to grab Gaara and make sure no one interrupts me."

"What do you have planned, Lorelei?" asks Naruto, his eyes trained fully ahead.

"I plan on using a Genjutsu on him, one of my more powerful ones. He's a long distance fighter, meaning that it's almost impossible to get close enough, so we need to not only be smart about this, but we need to beat him at his own game. Worst case scenario, when I start to sing-"

I jump to the side, just narrowly dodging one of Deidara's explosives. It takes a while for Naruto and Kakashi to catch back up, but once they do, I continue to speak.

"When I start to sing, he will be in so much pain, that he could randomly start to throw bombs around trying to kill the things that is causing the pain.-"

"you need us to watch your back." I look at Kakashi with a nod.

"Precisely. chances are, there could be more Akatsuki members nearby, and if that's the case, Itachi Uchiha could appear and throw my plans in a disarray by breaking the Genjutsu on Deidara. Naruto, one you grab Gaara, guard him. Kakashi, I would really appreciate it if you watched out for any other enemies."

"Got it." They said simultaneously.

I signal for them to jump in either direction of me as I head stop running and perch myself on one of the giant trees that grew between each cliff face.

Deidara quickly picks up that something is wrong when he notices that we aren't chasing after him anymore. His clay bird turns and re-circles the area, his blue eyes staring coldly at me. "Where'd your little friends go?"

I smirk underneath my mask and don't bother to give him an explanation. Jumping into the air, I pull out multiple Kunai and throw them at the explosives that Deidara began to send my way. As each Kunai hit its mark, the bombs explode in clouds of smoke and debris.

Taking that opportunity, I land on the log and slowly begin to release the Chakra that collected in my throat. As I did so, the world around us seemed to become eerily quiet, even the wind seemed to stop moving.

As things quieted down, I feel Kakashi's presence appear behind me a little ways away, and Naruto situate himself just underneath Deidara and his Clay bird, ready to grab Gaara at any given moment.

"What...Why is it...so quiet?"

I begin to sing without a moment's hesitation. (Play the song)

At first, Deidara's response to the song wasn't immediate. His face seemed to cloud over in confusion and anger, having no idea what was going on. In this Genjutsu, the victim will imagine themselves in a type of maze-like area that is completely shrouded in darkness, the only source of light coming from the glowing red eyes of the person following them.

Eventually, as the "chase" continues, the victim becomes more and more panicked as they reach more dead-ends in the maze. At this point, blood will begin to pour from the walls, and the victim will slowly begin to see the features of the person that they fear the most as they run. Near the end of the Genjutsu, the victim will eventually be "Caught". The trama from mentally being killed by the thing they fear the most is supposed to mentally ripe the person apart, making them commit suicide. Unfortunately, some Shinobi are strong enough to withstand the Genjutsu and live through it all the way to the end. '

I don't think this will be the case for Deidara.

"Let's play a little game and have fun."

Visible signs of panic are now evident on the blonde's face as his eyes begin to widen in fear and horror. "No.....No, what the hell are you doing here, you bastard!"

His face scrunches up in fear and anxiety, his body shaking relentlessly as he falls to his knees. Naruto takes this opportunity to grab Gaara while also taking him somewhere safe. A scream rips through his body, and as it does, a sadist smile spreads across my lips.

Feel my wrath you son of a bitch.

Deidara grips his hair with the one hand he has, ripping at his hair relentlessly as a crazed look appears in his eyes.

"How the fuck do I get out. Wheres the way out. I need to get out. I need to get out...GO AWAY!" Another bone-chilling scream rips through him as I continue to sing, my voice never decreasing in volume, not even once.

Deidara's bird angles itself towards the ground, and as it touches down, the blonde Akatsuki makes a break for it, almost tripping over his own feet in the process.

He was trying to run away from the things that tore at him in his brain. Good luck...you can never get away at this point.

"What are you doing to him, Lorelei?" I don't bother to answer Kakashi as I chase after Deidara, not taking a break in my song. If I stop singing even once, it will release him from the Genjutsu and I'll have to start all over again.

Just as Deidara tips over his own feet, causing him to fall and lay sprawled out on the ground, a yell is heard from behind me.

"Lorelei watch out!" Yells Naruto and Kakashi at the same time.

I don't have time to react as a body is slammed straight into mine. With a groan, my body is sent flying, and my singing is abruptly stopped. As my body hits the trunk of a particularly large tree, I feel the bark cave in from under me.

Groaning out in pain, my body falls to the ground from the shock of the impact. Looking up from my position from the ground, I watch as Deidara continues to lay on the ground, his body occasionally twitching as saliva slowly leaks from his mouth.

If this was any other person, I would have laughed joyously, but for him, it makes me feel deadly delight at his pathetic state. Looking around, I watch as an unfamiliar Akatsuki member walks up to Deidara and picks him up in his arms.

Turning to look at me, the Akatsuki member seemed to look at me with childish glee.

"Tobi is sorry for hurting you, but Tobi cannot allow you to kill Deidara-Senpai." With that being said, this "Tobi" guy suddenly jumps and disappears from my sight, a giggle being the only thing he left behind.

Sighing in aggravation, I stand to my feet and dust myself off before heading over to Naruto and Kakashi. With sad eyes, I look down at Gaara's body, heartache and pure agony ripping through my body. I feel my eyes sting as tears threaten to fall from my eyes.

"Are you okay?" Naruto asks, his voice sad.

"yeah..I'm good," I say simply.

From beside us, Kakashi sighs and turns to walk away. "Let's go check up on Sakura and Lady Chiyo."

Naruto and I follow silently, but as we did, questions began to fill my head, each one making me even more worried.

Why was it so easy to entrap Deidara in that Genjutsu? Even if it was a Sairen Genjutsu...you'd think that we'd all have to put up a bigger fight in order to get rid of him...

And how in the hell was this "Tobi" not affected by the Genjutsu at all? More over...how was he able to get past Kakashi and body slam me like that?

Who in the hell is this Tobi?
