Chapter Nine
(Leo's pov)
I might not have a wolf anymore, but that didn't mean that I still couldn't hear certain things. Those things being my two brothers outside my door arguing over whether I was still alive in here or not.
"It's like three in the afternoon, he's never slept in that long before," Scott said.
"Isn't that more reason to go in there to check on him," Drew said.
"Sure be my guest Drew, but when Leo kills you for going into his room and waking him up then don't come crying to me."
"How can I come crying to you if I'm dead Scott, dumbass," Drew said, muttering the last part.
I was biting on my lip to keep myself from laughing at them. It's true in the past I was pretty territorial over my room but that was because of Draco. I honestly didn't care if they came in here. I was currently sitting in my bed with the blankets on me, I've actually been awake for hours now, I just haven't felt like going around my family. I kept snacks and drinks in my room so its not like I was going hungry in here.
"What are you two doing?" Quinn asked.
"Trying to see if Leo is awake," Scott said.
"Then why don't you just knock on his door to see if he's awake?" Elliott asked.
Elliott? Why was he here?
"You two do know that Draco is gone now. Leo won't kill you for checking in on him" Amara said.
"Yeah well you're not the one who's been traumatized by his grouchy self," Scott said, earning a laugh from Drew.
"You two are stupid," Quinn said as my bedroom door came flying open, revealing everyone on the other side of the door.
"He's awake," Quinn said as she came running into my room, throwing herself onto my bed.
"Can I help you?" I asked her as she tried to get comfortable.
"Yeah, you wanna go do something with us?" She asked.
"Like?"
She shrugged her shoulders as she looked me up and down.
"Are you really comfortable being bundled up like that?"
"Yup."
"I'd be burning up if I tried that," Elliott said as he came into my room, sitting at my desk.
"Have you been sleeping this whole time?" Amara asked from the door way.
"No, just been chillin, I guess."
"You ok?" She asked.
"Yeah. Why?"
"I don't know you just seem off is all."
Truth was I just wanted to be alone right now. I was enjoying the quietness, the solitude, it was so peaceful. I wasn't having to tune out Draco's voice anymore, I wasn't having to exhaust myself trying to keep him at bay. I was finally able to relax.
"So you want to do something or not?" Drew asked.
"I could go for something to eat," I admitted.
"What do you want?" Amara asked.
"There's that really good Chinese restaurant in town that's got the huge buffet," Elliott said.
"That'll work," I said.
I went to pull back the blankets to see that Quinn was messing with a small hole in my blanket.
"Leave that alone before you make it bigger."
"I'm not messing with it," she said, rolling her eyes at me.
"You know what get off my bed," I said taking my feet and pushing her off the bed, hearing a loud thud as she hit the floor.
"Ow, hey that wasn't called for," she said rubbing her arm that had hit the floor.
"It was called for, over there messing with shit," I said as I slipped my shoes on.
"You're not going to change?" Drew asked.
"Nope," I said, honestly not caring how I looked.
I was still in my clothes that I had went to bed in last night.
"Well at least you match," Elliott said as I grabbed my phone and my wallet, slipping them into the pockets of my pajama pants.
"I'm warm so that's all I care about," I said as we exited my room.
"You might want to at least run your fingers through your hair," Scott said, causing me to look in the mirror that hung in the hallway.
My hair was sticking in every other direction, you could tell I slept hard. I think the last time I got sleep that good was before my first shift, before Draco. I ran my fingers through my hair, making it look semi better before I gave up and followed the rest of them down the stairs.
"You're going out like that?" My mom asked, as she ran her judgmental gaze over my appearance.
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, it's just. I mean sweetie you're in your pajamas for crying out loud," she said.
"Momma, I'm there to stuff my face not impress anyone."
"Could you at least just change your pants. That's all I'm asking, for me. Please."
"But I'm warm in these," I said, trying to reason with her.
"Sweetie," she began before I interrupted her with an annoyed groan.
"Fine I'll go change my pants," I snapped as I started stomping back up the stairs.
What was I hurting? It's not like they were ugly, they were green and black flannel pajamas bottoms.
"Maybe you could also brush your hair while you're at it," she yelled after me.
"Maybe you could also brush your hair while you're at it," I mocked lowly under my breath so she couldnt hear me.
I threw my bedroom door open, my eyes automatically landing on the pair of sweats I wore yesterday.
"You'll work," I said as I picked them up, quickly changing into them, already missing the warmth of my pj's
I walked over to my dresser, picking up the ponytail that sat on top of it. I grabbed my brush, running it through my tangled curls before throwing my shoulder length brown hair into a loose bun.
I walked back out of my room, shutting my door before I made my way back to where everyone was waiting for me.
"There, is this better?" I asked my mom.
"A lot better. Aren't those the pants you wore yesterday though?" She asked.
"Oh my God can we just please leave already?"
"We'll be back later," Drew said as he opened the door.
"Y'all have fun. Make sure your brother doesn't over do it ok?" She said as we made our way over to be our mother's mini van.
"We will," Scott yelled back.
"Hey how come you get to sit up front?" Quinn asked as I opened the front passenger seat, already half way in the vehicle.
"Because the heater is up here and besides with me being up here that means it gives you a better chance to sit with your little boyfriend," I said in a mocking tone causing Quinn and Elliot's face to turn Scarlett.
"H-He's not my boyfriend," she stuttered out.
"Not yet at least," Drew said joining me in teasing them.
"Elli and Quinn sitting in a tree,"
"K.I.S.S.I.N.G," Scott finished for Amara as we all started laughing at how embarrassed they were.
"Just shup up and drive," Elliott snapped at us as Scott started towards town.
For the most part the trip to town was pretty quiet, minus everyone complaining about how 'hot' I was keeping it in the van. I just kept telling everyone to shut up and I would turn the heat up even higher. If I was being honest I was getting a little warm, but I was too much of a petty person to admit that. I was enjoying pissing them off to much to admit that I was starting to get hot.
"Oh thank the good lord we're here, let me out of this oven," Elliott said as he crawled over his sister and mine to be the first one out of the van.
"That hurts," Amara said as she shoved him the rest of the way out of the vehicle, causing him to almost kiss the pavement.
"Hey!" He yelled at his sister as we all piled out of the car.
"I vote for making Leo walk home," Drew groaned out as he glared at me.
"Agreed," everyone said as I rolled my eyes at them.
"Shut up and go."
"Wait a minute," Amara said before somebody yanked me back against the van.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked, only to make eye contact with the last person I ever expected to see again.
"I need you to take me to Casey," Joel said, his eyes never leaving Amara's.
"Why? What do you need with her father?" I asked, feeling annoyed at just the sight of him.
"Are you bleeding?" She asked, looking him up and down, like she was looking for something.
"I've been stabbed in my lower abdomen. Judging by the pain I'm guessing my attacker used a silver blade on me," he groaned out as he put more weight into me. I wrapped my arm around his waist, helping to support some of his waist. Look I may not like the guy but I'm not a total ass either, I'm not going to tell a guy who has been stabbed to fuck off.
"Let go of me," Joel yelled out, shoving me away from him.
"I was just trying to help," I said.
"I'm not some damsel in distress that needs your help," he said as he staggered forward, Amara rushed forward, catching him before his could hit the ground.
"Guys help me get him in the van before he gets any weaker," she said as Drew, Scott and myself helped get him into the back seat with Amara.
After he was in we all got back into the vehicle, Scott sped out of the parking lot as we started for Amara's house.
"Your dad is home right" Drew asked.
Amara pulled out her phone, as she called Uncle Casey.
"Please tell me you're home?"
