❥︎ Third Person Omniscient
A young girl was staring out the window, counting the stars in the night sky out of tedious boredom. Angela rested on a couch while letting her blonde hair flop all over the cushions. She wanted to turn on the TV, yet her parents didn't want her to watch TV past 9 pm. They're not even home but she wanted to be a good girl and show them how responsible she was.
They usually would have been home by now. They make sure to check up on her even by phone, but the line had been dead ever since they left the house.
Her stomach roared, bubbles churning in the acid. However, her worry churned her heart worse than her need for food. To calm herself, the young female omega hugged onto her teddy and relaxed in the cool darkness of the living room.
"Just give it time, teddy. They'll be home soon, I bet. Maybe mom got crabby and brought dad to the store to hunt down her favorites again," she said to the toy. It may not be living, but the scent of her parents along its fur comforted her just enough. "After the robots attacked, so many people got hurt, mom and dad had a lot of work. Maybe more people came than usual."
She vividly remembered the crisis. The AIs were above her knowledge. Something she would never understand, or most people really. All she knew they were deadly metal creatures that had no heart and shredded her homeland. But her parents had all the heart in the world, helping those in need even without getting any benefits or thanks.
They were literal angels. Even as her country slowly coped with the damage, they made it more manageable and handling one problem at a time.
While they were gone, she usually played as a make-believe doctor. She got a random stick from outside and would use it to heal her teddy. With focusing all her love and patience in one whip of her lil wand, she made all of its pain go away.
But when it tore, she tried doing the same thing and it didn't work. She moved to stick in any way possible, but pouted and thought of way it wouldn't work. "Mom, my angelic love magic won't work! How do you do it?!" She once exclaimed to her mom.
The woman peered from her computer and gave her a compassionate grin. She lifted herself off the table kneeled infront of her daughter. "Mommy puts a lot of love and care into her work, but that alone won't solve it. You need to know how to get your hands working. Hold on, hun."
"Hm...?" The little girl watched as her mother ran up the stairs only to come back with some string and a needle. That made her mind more boggled.
But like any mother, she watered it down for her aspiring angel. "Kleiner Engel, here's how to stitch a wound close..." She added instructions as she did so. She put the tiny string through the hoop and elongated it. With her expertise, she dug the needle in and weaved it in and out in a pattern.
Her mother turned to see if she followed, but the saw her frightened face and laughed. "Don't worry, Angie my dear. It may look painful, but it'll help in the long run. See?" She tied up the stitching and the girl magically watched it close.
"W-wow! He's healed now!" She reached for her bear, but mother pulled away.
"Nuh-uh-uh, teddy needs to rest. For him to heal, you got to wait. It takes time," her mother advised.
"I thought he was okay immediately like with magic, awww."
She patted the girl lightly on the head. "I know you want him to be healed as soon as possible, but it takes a lot of patient and work and time to fully treat someone. Don't worry hun."
"And when that happens, will I be an angel? Will God give me my wings when I do?"
"Yes, but it'll take some time. A lot of time. You'll get there, baby, you'll get there..."
She played that memory in her head as she unknowingly began falling her sleep. She couldn't wait to get her wings. The big fluffy white coats they wore that were secretly their wings. When God thinks she's ready, He will form the coat with the help of His guardians and descend it from the heavens and onto her back. And that put a smile on her face as she drifted into unconsciousness.
Yet, like the Devil rising from Hell, a massive explosion made the whole neighborhood rumble and her little blue eyes jolted open. Her heart thudded in her thin chest. By instinct, she grabbed some blankets off the couch and ran into the closet and slammed it closed.
She placed them on the ground with her teddy and wrapped herself around them. Even if she was sitting on top of misplaced shoes and unused knick-knacks, she needed a tight space. A space where she felt the safest.
She trembled in her little nest that omega's usually make out of desperateness to calm down. But she still felt like she'll die at any minute. Her house may be bombed next.
With thick Swiss wording, she prayed her small heart out for anyone to save her. And they have been answered, but definitely not in a way she expected. Or ever wanted.
It had been a good twenty minutes or even past that before she heard a loud knock on the door. She grew even more scared and stood still. Maybe a criminal was going through the neighborhood, blowing up houses to steal just like how she saw in the movies when they blew up bank vaults with dynamite. Or maybe it was the omnics again.
'Oh, God. Not now, please no,' she cried in her head as she scrunched herself into a trembling ball.
"Angie! Sweetheart, you there?" A loud, but concerned masculine voice was heard behind the wooden door. Immediately, she got up to her feet and bolted to the door. It was the cop she knew around the neighborhood.
"Mikey! Mikey!" She had screamed out and swung open the door. The police officer was taken aback by the little girl charging full force and hugging him. Although, he was more than prepared to ease her fears.
"Oh goodness, I know, I know," The beta said as he gently rubbed her back during the embrace.
She cried against his uniform, her tears staining the blue fabric. Fortunately, his calming beta scent with a light spritz of cologne made her feel safe again. And so she looked up at him while still holding onto his waist. "T-there was a boom! An explosion!"
"I heard it too, Angie. I heard it loud and clear. Scary wasn't it?" He looked down at the girl with an empathetic smile, but he struggled to hide his own fear behind his heavily arched brows.
"Yes, very very scary! Was it the big robots again?! Why did it happen?!"
He knew too well of her family's struggle with dealing with the trauma and the poor child suffered the most from it. He sighed and shifted his body uncomfortably. "It was, I, shit..." Cursing infront of her was never acceptable, but that summed up how he felt.
So much to say. So much to handle.
"Where's mom and pa?" She said with such a weak voice.
She saw the male's lip quiver before he turned away.
He couldn't take it and had to get it out. "I'm, I'm sorry, Angie..." He tried to keep himself together, but he croaked and broke down. A few beads of stressed build tears down his cheeks. "They're gone. I'm sorry." He looked down at the gravel to avoid her face, but there were droplets crashing onto the concrete that wasn't his.
"N-No! They're angels! No, they shouldn't have!" She yelled but he only shook his head.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." The beta had known her family for years. He remembered when they brought him during a cold, rainy night and gave him coffee. He met their daughter and instantly fell in love with her spunk. He'd babysit her when he was off of work and played Jenga on the weekend. He sympathized with their pain from the crisis and admired how they were all strong to pull through. He wanted to protect them, like any officer's job.
He failed to even do that. He knew it wasn't his fault, but he felt like he could have done something. Trade his life for theirs. Just anything to have them alive. Because damnit, it was hard to tell an already traumatized child that she won't ever see her parents again who he had a close bond with.
She hugged him again, but more desperately and dug her fingers into his shirt. He wrapped his arms around her as tight as he could and tried to push away the unimaginable. They both cried and cried until their eyes dried and they miserably sniffled.
"It's going to be hard, hard for us both...But I promise to God, I'll take care of you. Things will get better," he softly spoke as she rested her head on his chin.
She stayed quiet, her mind filled with running thoughts. Why did He take them away from them along with other innocent people? Why did He make them suffer when they did nothing but good? Was He more cruel and human than she thought he was? If so, she cried again.
Because that was the first time she'd understood pessimism with an adult's perspective that a child should never have the knowledge to.

The troubled omega woke up with a start. Angela felt the covers peel away from her body as she shot up from the bed. Cold sweat covered her skin, accumulating more and more when she had battled her trauma filled nightmare. The way the sheets that had contorted underneath knew she was wrestling her mind good and hard.
The young doctor breathed to calm down her heart and quivering lungs, but she felt like a paperweight was on her stomach. Even though she was free from her terror-filled cage, she felt so much stress and released pheromones of fear.
A subtle sniffle was heard, then a few louder ones before she heard rustling on the side of her. She faced her mate that was wiping her eyes and let out a groan.
If only her body shut up, Angela's alpha would be asleep and not be forced to wake up from their bond and her omegan pheromones. "Fareeha, hun, I'm s-"
As soon as she opened her mouth, the female alpha was already alert and had wrapped her burly arms around the blonde. "It's okay. I know you still have nightmares, but I'm always more than happy to comfort you," she said in a caring tone.
And she was right. Fareeha had released a wave of her scent to calm her down and she already melted into her touch. "It's never your fault. Never. Not even Mikey."
Angie processed those words as she leaned against Fareeha's chest. She knew it wasn't. She knew she had no control over it. There wasn't a way to turn back time, but it would always grow on her. "Work is gonna be fun..." She mumbled.
"I'll wake up early and make you coffee. And I w- ah, ah, ah!" The soldier hushed her omega's eagered mouth before she could protest. "I have to work out in the morning now. So I'll be up much early for my new schedule anyway. I don't want to stress about anything...Okay?" Her stern voice made it clear what she was going to do, but the way she said the last word so softly indicated her own worry inside.
"Okay, baby. I won't," Angela said.
People said that her pain would lessen over time, but she relives the moment at even the slightest reminder. However, by being underneath her pharaoh's wings, it made everything bearable.
