Joo Haknyeon; easily described as walking perfection, he's a man practically everyone wants to be with. I'm no exception. Although such perfection and a high demand usually means that someone would've been lucky enough to get the opportunity to be with him. Which is true; there is someone and no, unfortunately, it's not me.

Rather than her being tall, beautiful and charming this girl is more of the cute, small and innocent type. Quite fitting for someone Haknyeon, don't you think? Except, here's the catch - that had nothing to do with Haknyeon, this is just me complaining. Now, it isn't the stereotypical thing of her being my best friend. However, she is related to me. No, she isn't my sister that would be ridiculous my sister's twenty-seven and married. So that would just be wrong, this girl is however my cousin. Due to money constraints our families live in the same house, therefore I get to hear about Haknyeon daily. Not from her, but from my aunt. Who loves to rub into my face the fact that she has a boyfriend and I don't.
You see, aunt, it's not my fault that all the boys at my school other than Haknyeon aren't that eye-catching. Well, they aren't ugly but like you get what I mean right? Besides, I'm not cute, small and innocent looking like my cousin. Her name's Yoo Kyungwon for reference. In contrast to her I'm quite tall, taller than most females standing at 174cm. On top of that I'm skinny and lanky, although it's not like a nice and pretty skinny it's the you need to eat more type of skinny. Her hair is short, black and cute. Mine is long, badly frames my facial features and a faded burnt brown colour from when I dyed it in winter. Not to mention her soft features that are pretty and her cheeks are really squishy, I have high cheek bones and a high bridged nose, my eyes are black voids screaming intimidation whilst her sparkle like stars all the time.

Now, enough of the self-loathing and back to reality. I feel a heavy thud on my head, snapping me out of my daydream about Haknyeon - or the self-loathing call it what you want - I look up lazily at the teacher in front of me she was glaring at me. "Are you awake, Haewon?"

"Yes." I mumble in reply

"Were you paying attention to what I was saying?" Of course I wasn't, I was daydreaming. "Yes." I lie, looking at her right in the eye as I do so

"Then what's the answer to number five?" I glance down at my book, which was closed and up at the board my eyes are frantically searching the room for question five. Spotting it in the book of the student next to me I quickly read it before the teacher close their book and gulp, "Um, lets see. Give me a moment to think." It's a maths problem, one that I clearly shouldn't be able to do in my head. I stretch myself upwards trying to look over the heads in the student in front of me, they probably had the answer "What did I write down?" I mutter, spying the answer at last I smirk "15." The teacher looks at me dumbfounded

"How do you know that?" She raises her eyebrows at me,

"Because I solved it." The teacher stares at me for a few more seconds, sighs and then walks back to the front of the class
"Thank you, Haewon, for your input. It's amazing to know that you actually pay attention sometimes." I stifle a giggle and nod at her. "Okay, that should be good enough for now. Remember to do your homework over the weekend, class is now dismissed."

"Haewon, my food." A hand is held out to me expectantly, I pull out a large container of food

"There you go, and as for me..."

"Your study notes, Haewon." A book is dumped down in front of me, it was prettily decorated and had 'STUDY NOTES' written on the cover in huge English lettering. I look up and smile gratefully, "Thanks, Jihoon." He grins and sits down

"No problem, thanks for the food. You always have such good sense when it comes to food." Jihoon opens the container and gasps "See, such great sense." He holds his hand up and I high-five it.

"I knew you'd love it." I grin, "Where are the others?"

"Good question, maybe the lunch line." I nod "True, and it looks long so they could be awhile."

"Hey, Haewon, Jihoon!" A chirpy and cheerful voice calls out, Kyungwon is skipping towards us. She's grinning brightly and today she decided to drag Haknyeon along with her. I give her a quick wave before turning my attention back to my sandwich.

"Hello, Kyungwon, how are you?" Jihoon asks her, "I'm good." She says with a slight laugh in her voice

"And you Haknyeon? How are you?" He proceeds to ask Haknyeon as well "I'm good, too." He sits down next to Jihoon and looks around "Is everyone else in the lunch line?"

"Presumably so, yes." I feel a small tap on the left arm, I look over at Kyungwon who appears to be desperate to tell me something

"Yes, Kyungwon?" I say, truthfully I'm not really that interested in what she had to say. She hands me a small piece of paper which appears to be a note "What is it?"

"Read it," she whispers "when Haknyeon and I were in class earlier we were passing notes. Look at what he said." I sigh and open the note. I can already tell what it's going to say, something along the lines of how she's really pretty and cute. Add in the fact that she makes him really happy and that he loves her a lot and that's practically the contents of every note she shows me. Reading the note I quickly discovered that I am indeed right, it's all written in a cute way that almost makes me cringe that probably because he message isn't for me. I push the note back to her and nod

"Very nice, Kyungwon." I mumble, I wasn't in the mood to be jealous but my actions say otherwise."You know if you want things like this you could just go and find yourself a boyfriend." She says, "You could if you wanted to, you have the looks." I give her a look and shake my head, literally nobody wants to date me. I've been told so several times.

"What are you two whispering about?" Jihoon raises his eyebrows at us, curious. Kyungwon giggles and holds up the note, passing it to Jihoon. Haknyeon takes a few seconds to realise what it is and proceeds to snatch it out of Jihoon's grasp

"Don't show him that!" He says, holding protectively out of Jihoon's reach "Haewon reading them is fine but anyone else would make fun of what I wrote in there." Jihoon, whilst he hasn't read much is practically in tears from how much he's laughing.

"Seriously Haknyeon, I didn't know you had become so poetic." Jihoon snorts, "You're prettier than-"

"Shut up!" Haknyeon says, quickly covering Jihoon's mouth and preventing him from saying anymore out loud. "But it's so funny."

"See, this is why you don't show anyone else these things." Haknyeon gives the note back to Kyungwon "Fine, I'll just send Jihoon a picture of it later." She smirks at Haknyeon "Kyungwon."

"Okay, fine, ruin the fun." She pouts, putting the note into her bag and taking out a similar container to mine and the one I had given Jihoon "Also, Haewon did you take all the snacks in the cupboard?"

"I didn't take all of them, but you know how it's exam season?" I gesture to container in front of Jihoon and Kyungwon nods in realisation

"So most of them you gave to Jihoon?"

"Basically."

"That's understandable," she says "I'll just have to starve for today."

"I left enough for you, though"

"I think my father took some to work today as well, so even if you did leave stuff for my dad probably took it." I pull a face "Do you want some of mine?"

"No, it's okay I just felt like complaining." Of course, you tend to do that a lot. Quite honestly I'm pretty sure the only thing she doesn't complain about is Haknyeon. "Okay, suit yourself." I shrug "More for me then."

"Unless you wouldn't mind sharing with me." Haknyeon speaks up, I pull my container towards me protectively "No thanks, I'm not just going to give my food away."

"Thought so."

"Exactly, so why did you try?" I ask "I'm not to sure." Haknyeon then jumps up slightly "I just remembered something, I have to go and find someone do talk to them about that science project we were given earlier. I need to make sure they did their bit."

"You mean Yujin?" Kyungwon inquires, Haknyeon nods "Yeah, I'll be back in a bit I just have to find Yujin. Keep an eye on my stuff in the mean time and don't let anyone take my spot. Bye!" He quickly waves at us all and runs off.

"Bye!" Kyungwon waves back enthusiastically, Jihoon gives him an enthusiastic wave as for me all I can do is mumble a quick "bye" that he probably didn't even hear. I glance over and Kyungwon and all her bright and cheery happiness; now if only I could be like her.

a/n; yes this is supposed to be somewhat cliche at least in the beginning i'm sorry
