Chapter 7
Erin McAfee
"Hello?" I answered my phone when it rang.
"Erin, let's have a girls' night tomorrow. Zac will be in Hong Kong for a week so let's hangout!!!" Olivia said excitedly and I heard Jowee's chuckles on the line.
I see, this is a three-way call.
"Livy, I hate to burst your bubble but I can't tomorrow. We'll be having a family bonding this weekend at Yna's home in L.A. So, pass for me." I explained and resumed packing for this weekend's staycation with my family.
"Ugh, that's a bummer. Anyway, say hi to everyone for me." Olivia replied.
"Yeah, me too. When will you be back though?" Jowee asked as I put my phone into speaker mode.
"Sunday night, of course. Do you want something from LA? I can buy it for you two." I suggested and took a pair of sneakers from my closet.
"None" they both said in unison.
"Anyway, I'll have to disconnect. My dad is calling me. Have a safe and wonderful weekend, Erin." Jowee wished me and hung up.
"Yeah, me too. I'll call you later, E. Enjoy this weekend. Love you. Mwah."
"Thank you and love you too." I replied to Olivia and zipped my luggage.
As if on cue, my doorbell rang. I went to my living room to check the video intercom and what I saw made my jolly mood turned to irritation.
"What the hell is he doing here?" I mumbled to myself and pressed the speak button to talk to my unwelcomed visitor.
"What are you doing here, Alexander?" I asked in irritation.
He grinned at the camera when I spoke and I swear to God, I wanted to open my door harshly to him so it would hit him.
"Hello, Erin. I am here to personally give you these flowers." He showed the bouquet of Sunflowers he's holding.
Oh geez, it looks so beautiful.
No. Get a grip, Erin! My subconscious scolded me.
"Didn't tell you to stop giving me flowers and leave me alone? Now go home and save your money, Alexander. I won't accept any stuff from you anymore." I said calmly yet with a tone of agitation.
"If you want me to leave, fine. But I will leave these flowers outside your door. But Erin, I am serious about you and I won't stop until you give me a chance. Good night for now." He said sincerely and winked at the camera.
Then he put the flowers onto the ground and took one last look at the camera and smiled before he went away.
The nerve of this guy! He really can't understand no, can he? Ugh. Why did I have to meet this kind of annoying man?
Even if I liked flowers, I won't succumb to my whims to open the door and take the bouquet because I needed to show him, even if he's already left, that I stood on my ground to not give him any chance.
That's why, with a heavy heart, I called the building's maintenance hotline and asked them to remove the bouquet that's left outside my door and throw it outside.
I waited for the staff to take the bouquet and once the he took it away, I went to my living room to watch a movie.
Halfway towards the living room, I halted because I remembered the night Zac came here to warn me about Alexander Vice.
He hugged me that night! I didn't know if it's considered as a hug but that was the second time we had close contact. I was rooted on the grounded when he placed he whispered on my ear then rested his head on my shoulder.
Thank God, I was kinda tipsy that night so he couldn't see the blush in my face. However, I was mad at him that night because I've had enough of his 'concern' towards me. I was starting to hope again about me and him and it's kinda frustrating. That's why through the help of alcohol, I snapped at him and even blurted out about me distancing myself from the playboys since he kissed me in Olivia's apartment.
And because of that, I couldn't sleep properly thinking about him probably thinking that I couldn't forget that kiss. Ugh. What would he think of me? Geez.
That's why since that night, I promised myself again to avoid him at all cost. Just like what I was doing before he became my date at our Company's charity gala.
I shook my head harshly to erase all the thoughts of him in my mind and opened my television to look for a movie to rent.
The next day, I woke up pretty early because my parents will be fetching me as I will share a ride with them to airport. I was on to my last bite of sandwich when I got a text from my mom telling me that they're already in front of my building. So, I hurriedly tidied ny kitchen and went down to the lobby.
"Hi mommy, hi daddy." I greeted them when I hopped inside their Bentley Betayga. Dad was seated on the passenger side in front while mom and I sat on passenger seat behind them.
"Hello, my sweetheart. Did you have breakfast already?" Mom asked and held my hand while Dad was busy playing candy crush on his iPad.
"Yup. How about you two, mom?"
"I'll buy something in the airport. Your mom ate already." Dad replied despite being busy playing his favorite app.
"Ok. I have spoken with Tyra awhile ago, she said that she and Asher will arrive later today as she will have to attend a meeting. Nonetheless, the kids, Alessandra and Dean, will join us in our flight. They're were already fetched by Yna and Brad." I informed them.
Dad turned to look at me with a frown etched in his face.
"Why? Couldn't she find someone as her proxy?" Dad commented.
"And why didn't she informed us?" Mom added.
"Because of this, also, it's still Friday, mom and dad. Anyway, let's not make it a big deal, she and Asher already secured a ticket to LA later today." I said and took my phone to check who messaged me.
What I saw made me want to open the car window and throw my phone outside.
There I saw an annoying text.
Good morning, Erin. It's a beautiful day, I hope you have a good one today.
Alex Vice
Ugh! How did he knew my number? Where did he get it from? I swear to God, this man is so stubborn!
I ignored his message and deleted his text.
I won't let you spoil my mood, you moron.
After the six hour flight, we arrived at LA. This time we drove towards their beach house, I hitched with Yna, Brad and Charice, their 5 year old daughter, while Ally and Dean shared a car with mom and dad.
As we arrived at their beach house, I directed immediately to my designated room and unpacked. After a while, Yna went inside my room to notify me that lunch is already served.
Lunch was chaotic, in a very good way though, because the kids were non-stop telling us about their 'plans' for the weekend. It just actually swimming, if you asked me.
"Aunt Erin, can you accompany us in the beach after this?" Dean asked me and sported his infamous puppy eyes that no one can say no to.
"Okay. Just promise me one thing." I paused and looked at the three kids that's currently anticipating my next words with hope.
"You will listen to me and asked my permission first once we're in the bay already. If one of you failed to do so, we will return immediately here. You need to listen to me because I will be the only one to supervise you three as grandparents and uncle and Aunt will be grocery shopping. Understand?" I warned them and they all nodded at me.
"Promise?" I asked once again and they all shouted "promise" in unison.
"Okay." I smiled at them and resumed eating.
After we soaked ourselves from the heat of the sun and from the salty water of the beach, we went home already. I changed the three of them and tucked them in for a nap before I took a shower.
My weekend was pretty much the same, I accompanied the kids to the beach while their parents and my parents were busy seizing the moment of each other's company.
I don't complain though because I enjoyed playing with my nieces and nephew. Pretty much my whole weekend was a relaxing one but not peaceful because of an annoying jerk who texts, calls, and leaves voicemails to me.
I never once answered Alex's calls and messages until the night I was packing my stuff and both of my sisters were inside my room.
"Your phone's ringing for a while now. Who's calling you and why are you avoiding the person?" Yna asked
"No one. It's a jerk." I briefly stated and turned my phone phone off.
"Who is he? An avid fan of yours?" Tyra asked in a teasing manner.
"A man who doesn't know how to accept no for an answer." I told them.
"Who is he? Do we know him?" Tyra asked.
"Don't waste your time knowing the stupid guy's name. Not worth of knowing." I replied and zipped my luggage.
"If it's Zac then it's worth knowing?" Yna teased and wiggled her brows.
I heaved a sigh and stood up.
"Why is he apart of this convo?" I asked in irritation.
"Because he's Zac, your longtime childhood crush." Tyra spoke and grunted.
"Can we move on to that? He's prehistoric already." I said and went out of my room with my luggage to avoid my two prying sisters.
As I arrived in my apartment, I went immediately to my room to take a shower. After taking a shower, I planned to order a dessert, as I picked up my phone and upon ringing, I accidentally answered it before I realized what I did.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Erin! I'm glad you answered my call." I heard a very enthusiastic voice of a man and I looked at the caller ID and saw Annoying Man in it.
I sighed and groaned. Why did I have to be stupid and picked up his call?
"No! I answered to tell you that if you call again, I will block your number." I said in irritation.
"If you block my number, I will go to your apartment every night to ask you for a date." He said and chuckled.
"Even if you do that, I will never agree to date you, so keep that in mind." I hung up before he could say anything and blocked his number.
That annoying piece of a jerk! How dare he threaten me?
Now I don't have an appetite to order some sweets. Ugh!!!! You ruined my night, Alexander Vice.
***
I just got home from a tiring day at work.
There were lots of meetings I have attended outside my office and at the end of the day, I presented to the directors my team's project for this year's writer's guild. Thankfully, the directors liked and approved our idea.
After our meeting, I treated my team to a fancy dinner to thanked them for all of their hard work.
Now, as I got home, I needed a much needed peaceful bubble bath.
I readied and filled up my bathtub with my favourite rose body wash and I put ten drops of my favorite bamboo essential oil.
I got into the tub and immediately, my sore muscles had relaxed. Classical music was playing in the background while I sip on my favorite champagne. This is my night, if anyone disrupt my peace I will make sure that---
Before I can finish my statement, my doorbell rang for four times.
Ugh!!! I know who that is, it's Alexander Vice. For four nights straight, true to his words, he stayed outside my apartment and annoyed me by ringing my doorbell for every 20 minutes.
The first night he did that, I spoke to him through the video intercom. He said that he will not leave as long as I agree to just have one date with him.
Of course I never heeded to him and thought that if I ignored him he will give up. But nay nay, he never did which makes me want to kill him!
I tried to block the doorbell ringing but even if I focused on the classical music, it still overpowered by my doorbell.
I stood angrily and washed myself. Enough is enough! I will face this annoying man once and for all.
After I wash and put on my pyjamas, I stormed off my room and headed straight to my door. As I opened it, there I saw the towering figure of Alexander Vice, who was about to ring the doorbell again.
He was surprised when my door opened and I didn't waste any more time so I pushed him with all my might.
He stumbled and before he could compose himself, I pointed my index finger at him.
"Stop whatever your doing, right now!" I raised my voice angrily at him.
"Why can't you understand that I don't want to go out with you?! Why are you so stubborn?!" I said angrily while my hands were all over the place.
He took a step forward towards me and tried to hold my arm but I swatted his hand.
"Don't touch me! Go home, Alexander, there's---"
"Please, Erin, just give me chance. One night. Just one night. If you really didn't want to go out with me after that, I will leave you alone. Please, Erin." He pleaded.
"I told you to go home, Alexander. I will never give you---"
"Please, Erin. Please, just this once." It was his eyes that got me. It was full of sincerity and truth.
"Fine. But if you did something that is beyond dinner, I won't give you another chance." I said and he smiled as if he won a lottery.
"I promise, Erin. I'll text you the details." He said and I went inside my apartment.
Oh my God, I just hope that I did the right decision to have a date with him.
When I got into my room, I took my phone and unblocked his number.
Right after I unblocked him, a message was sent by him thanking me for giving him a chance.
Oh what have I done.
After two days, he texted me that he will fetch me tomorrow at six pm here in my apartment to go to the Carlton Hotel where he reserved a table for us.
Now, I was getting ready when I received a text from Alexander informing me that he's already on his way here to pick me up. I didn't reply because I really never did.
I checked myself in the mirror and all in all, I looked good and presentable. I did not bother to glammed up because I wasn't into him in the first place so I opted for a simple look tonight.
I waited for him in the lobby so that he won't go up to my apartment anymore. When I saw him, I immediately met him halfway and he gave me a bouquet of pink ecuadorian roses.
I smiled at the roses and thanked him.
"You looked beautiful, Erin." He said and I smiled.
"Thank you." I said.
"Let's go?" He asked and I nodded. I felt his palm rested on the lower part of my back. I didn't removed it though because I didn't feel any ill-intentions about his gesture.
He opened his car door for me and I entered then he rounded his car for him to enter.
I hope this night will end well.
