I awoke with mixed feelings that day not only did I have school today but I also was going to see mom in the hospital. Well that and I had a date with Derek that I didn't know how to feel about. Derek is a ok guy I mean we haven't hung out a lot. But he says he's crushing on me. Maybe that's what all models say? I just don't understand guys really to much. I guess I haven't payed to much attention to boys either but still. I refused to fall in love for now I had more important things to focus on. I need to remind my self its not really a date its a act of charity for Ren. Walking into my small walk in closet selected a outfit of choice. I had Choose skinny jeans paired with a flowy lace top and some vans. I went light on the make up. I only used chapstick and mascara. I choose to leave my dark hair be and simply brush it out. My phone rang shortly after I was finished getting ready.

Nora "Sorry to tell you last minute but I cant take you to school today cause I'm sick. Raven should be there by now."

"Can vampires even get sick?" I asked confused.

Nora "Yeah from low iron levels. Look you caught me I'm just skipping school today."

"How does that even work?"

Nora "Well remember that assignment that was due today?"

"Yes"

Nora "You see I kind of forgot to write that essay about one of the poets we learned about. So guess what I'm doing?"

"So your just now starting a essay??"

Nora "Yeah and my mom is pretty mad at me. I'm be grounded this weekend. I'm also supposed to write a good one this weekend or else mom is gonna ground me hard core."

"What about the sleep over?"

Nora "I talked to the girls they were pretty pissed off at me to say the least but I'm now hosting the sleep over thursday next week."

I heard the hook of a horn suddenly which I assumed was Raven here to pick me up.

"Ravens here gotta go."

I then hung up and grabbed my back pack. I headed down the stairs and out the door. I was greeted with Raven and his black spider sports car. He rolled down the passenger side window.

Raven "Come on" he said with a smile.

"I'm coming" I replied.

Opening the door it smelled of sage and mint. It smelled good to say the least. I sat down and closed the car door. Raven then reached over to buckle me in.

"Thanks" I simply said.

Raven "No problem at all I just hope your boyfriend wont have a problem with it later today." he said with a sly smirk.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked looking over into his gray eyes.

Raven "Nothing really sorry. So do you think you will make it today without Nora?" he said glancing at me.

If this was Raven trying to mask his emotions he was doing a pretty bad job. I could feel his jealous towards Derek. But I couldn't ignore it the bull shit those two have began to cause. Raven looked back at the road head. We were almost to school when I decide to open my mouth.

"I don't get why and when this triangle started but I wish it would stop already. I'm just going on a date with Derek because of Ren."

Raven "Not trying to mean but Derek's dad has been pressuring him a lot lately to date and get out there. Derek is a werewolf his dad wants his son to find a mate. What if Derek just set this whole thing up to get his dad off his back for a while?" he asked as he pulled into the student parking lot.

"I don't care Raven I'm not going out tonight because I'm in love with Derek. I'm doing it for Ren and also Derek I guess." I said puzzled.

Raven "I saw the way he looked at you in gym. He even growled at me a few times." he laughed.

"Okay now your being confusing Raven is Derek using me as a pawn or does he have a crush on me? Make up your mind."

Raven "I don't know Ava I'm just a guy who doesn't want to see you get hurt." he said softly as he parked his car.

"Look a lot of bad things have happened lately but I'm getting better and stronger. You don't have to worry about me too much Raven."

Raven "Well I kinda do and its not gonna stop so get use to it." he winked at me and smiled revealing his fangs.

"Uh Raven?"

Raven "Why are you looking at me like that?" he laughed as he got out of the car.

I grabbed my book bag and got out of the car laughing.

Raven "What?" he asked confused.

"Are you aware that your fangs are out?" I said smiling.

Raven "Well no.. But you didn't have to act like that about it. I cant help it you just smelled good ok?" he said trying not to blush.

"Oh so I smell so good, how good?" I teased.

Raven "Stop teasing if you keep it up Ava I will bite." He nudged my shoulder playfully.

"Then you can bite my ass Raven." I replied laughing.

Raven "Sorry Ava but I'm not a ass man so ill pass."

After entering the building we parted are ways to head to our lockers. After many turns in this huge school I made it to my locker. It felt weird to go to my locker without my partner in crime Nora. But I reminded myself to be strong like Nora. The awesome girl who tended to give zero fucks. I selected my things for English class. I began to place my book and binder for english into my back pack. Till so jack ass decide to nock my books and bag to the ground. I looked up to see a girl with green eyes and brown hair smirking at me.

Girl "I heard your new here and that you have a date with Derek. Funny thing is I don't recall him being one to ask mutts out."

I tried to remain calm by balling my fists at my side. I tried to make eye contact with out being to hateful. But seriously who did she think she is? She need to reevaluate her self before she thinks she is gonna start a fight with me.

Girl "Whats wrong girly cat got your tongue? Or are you just afraid of the big bad wolfy? Huh?" she teased and taunted me.

"Derek and I are just friends its not really a date." I shrugged and began picking my things up.

Girl "I hope he wouldn't date a mangy thing like you. He needs a woman with class and strength to in power our pack and bloodlines."

I pretended to care "Yeah huh sure, have a nice day then."

I had my things gathered in my hand. I then went for my second attempt to put it into my pack back. That was till the bitch knocked my stuff out of my hands again.

Girl "Oops silly me I'm awfully clumsy." She said smirking at me.

"Ok I've had enough I've tried to be nice. How about you leave me alone?"
That's when I saw Clover and Willow coming up behind the green eyed bully. The girl turned around and smiled at them.

Girl "Look what the dog drugged in one witch and a oh look another mangy mutt." she laughed.

Clover "I've never wanted to turn a troll into a real troll so badly."

Willow "Remember Clover this isn't harry potter this is real life." she laughed.

Clover "The irony is they are pretty close."

Girl "You guys are dorks"

Willow "And your point is how about you leave Ava alone Stacy?

Stacy "Cause I was just playing with her. Besides this mutt doesn't stand a chance."

Clover "I love how your trying to insult her for being a wolf when she isnt." She laughed with Willow.

Stacy "So then what is the little freak a if sees not a bitch?"

Willow "To be honest I think you should refrain from insulting your self sweety its not classy. Its very unbecoming of someone who is trying to sleep her way to the top of the food chain. So how about you let are Ava go to class and me and Clover wont tell my daddy about your nasty hate speech?"

Clover "What Willow sad you wouldn't want the council member knowing about a hateful student?"

Stacy "Fine you guys win"

Looking over at Clover and Willow I smiled. "Thanks guys"

"No problem." They said in together.

Clover "Physical fights are not well tolerated here."

Willow "Specially since they can get out of hand way to fast. We didn't want you to get in trouble."

Clover "Will walk you to English will see you at your locker before history class."

Willow "If she would of tried to be violent with you I would of seriously kicked her ass at are pack meeting this weekend."

Clover "So if so one asks you your supernatural race what do you say?"

"Uh I just check the other box"

Willow "There is no other box."

Clover "Nora has told us about the stuff you can do. We heard of vampires being able to but its rare for them to move objects. Maybe I could help you out my mom is doctor."

Willow "I don't think we need a doctor."

Clover "Yeah but we need a nerd!"

Willow "Spade reads a lot of anime!"

Clover "How is anime going to help us figure Ava out?!"

Willow "I don't know we were talking about nerds and I got scattered brained."

I interrupted them to tell them we were at my class room. "Thanks guys"

"Your welcome" They said together.

The day went by pretty fast I got excited because Ren was picking me up today. Walking out the doors with my book bag in hand it felt nice out. The light breeze ran through my hair this was so much better then living in the city. I walked out to the parking lot to see that Ren wasn't there. I checked my phone and still nothing. A black messy haired Raven with a black tee shirt, red black flannel, and jeans approached me.

Raven "I thought you had a ride home?"

"I do Ren is supposed to take me to the hospital to see our mom today."

Raven "Well ill wait with for him to get here. Why don't you call him?"

"I guess I could call."

I brought up Rens contact on my phone and pressed call. I got nothing but a voice mail. I kept trying but still got his voice mail. Seriously Ren if you wanna play games will play games. Twenty five no answers later and still no texts.

"I cant believe he didn't show."

Raven "Maybe he will have a explanation. How about I take you to see your mom. After wards I can take you home?"

"Sounds like a good idea. Ren isn't getting away with this though."

Raven laughed "I doubt he will."

"Lets just go." I said walking to his car.

Raven "Well wait up you kinda need me." He said walking up to his car.

After getting into the car and taking off to the hospital to see my mom Raven would try to steal glances at me. Sometimes I even caught him biting is soft bottom lip. I tried to not think about are strange friendship. I say strange since Raven, Nora, and I have gotten pretty close. That and sadly I've been kissed by both of them before. No me and Nora aren't in love with each other. I'm not in to girls nothing wrong with liking girls either but that wasn't me. Nora and I have became like sisters. Raven was one of my best guy friends and the rest of the gang were becoming my best friends to. I felt like I had a second family with them. We were all kinda different but also kinda of the same.

I caught Raven glancing over at me again. This time I opened my mouth to say something.

"Why do you keep looking at me like that?"

Raven "Its interesting watching your face go from all mad to lost in thought. Plus you aren't talking too much." he shrugged.

"Im sorry"

Raven "Its fine Ava I'm use even talkative Nora going quite." he laughed.

"How long do you think she will be grounded for?"

Raven "If she gets on moms good side probably not to long. Specially since mom keeps asking for you to cone over and visit again. This time she prefers you to sleep in Noras room. Because sleeping in a boys room isn't lady like."

"Don't tell me April hates me because of how we first met?"

Raven laughed "Its the opposite she adores you really. Its just she doesn't like being mean for no reason. She was just rather very mad with me. She gave me the talk that night when she got off of work."

"Were here!" I said as he pulled into the hospital.

"Do you know what room she is in?" he asked as he pulled into a parking space.

"Yeah her room is room number eight shes in the recover center."

Raven "Ok ill walk you in and ill wait in the waiting room."

"Ok"

After we went through the double sliding doors Raven made is way to the waiting room and sat down. He pulled his phone out and began to play with hus phone. I then asked the receptionist names Ruby if I could see my mom. Ruby smiled politely at me and told it was alright before she pressed the button to open the doors. I simply thanked her nicely before a made my way down the white hall way. The nurses at the round computer station looked up at me for a short period of time before going back to work. I walked passed them and down the hall where the rooms where. I stopped when I got to the room labeled eight with Amy Knight on it. I could hear what sounded like a doctor talking. I was startled due to not paying attention with the big green door opened. The chestnut haired male doctor stood in front of me smiling before shutting her door behind him.

Doctor "Glad your here I was getting ready to call and let you know that your mother is doing fine. She has minor bruising right now. She still not fully healed and is still tired. But she is coherent and no longer in a coma like state."

"So shes going to be ok?"

Doctor "I'd say yes at this point. I'm not releasing her quite yet. But to be honest shes doing fantastic so far." he smiled before walking off.

I opened the door and walked in closing the door behind me. Walking past her gray curtain and towards her bed. She was in bed asleep and I didn't want to wake her. I smiled at her she is the best mother a little girl could of ever asked for. They haven't caught the men who attacked her. The Crest moon pack have been searching for the drifters that had harmed her but have found nothing but dead ends. I hope those bastards that attacked her get what they deserved. Her eyes fluttered before they opened to meet mine. She smiled at me before speaking.

Mom "Did you see that handsome doctor?" she said with a smile.

"Mom!!" I teased.

Mom "What I'm trying to lighten the mood. I'm fine Ava and so is that doctor."

I laughed "Mom shouldn't you be resting?"

Mom "I cant rest now that your here Ava I know you were worrying about me." She then patted the side of the bed for me to sit.

I sat down on the edge of the bed next to her. I admired her chestnut brown hair and hazel eyes. People always found it hard to believe I was adopted. Mom never referred to me or ever treated me differently even when she learned about how unique I was. Now with my dark hair and two different colored eyes. I assumed people thought and questioned me alot.

Mom "What happened to your eyes and hair Ava."

"Well mom its a long story."

Mom "Well I'm stuck in this hospital so I have time."

I then spent a long time catching her up to speed with everything.

Mom "Sounds like you need to have a normal week for once. I never knew moving here would become eventful. But your saying Ren is joining a pack maybe then these rogues will leave us alone."

"I hope they do." I looked at mom her eyes were beginning to close. She looked like she was fighting her sleep.

Mom "Ava I'm sorry dear but I cant keep my eyes open."

"Its ok mom rest Raven is down stairs waiting on me"

Mom "I better get to meet this Raven some time."

"You will eventually mom" I told her before she drifted off to sleep.

My phone then buzzed I checked it to see I had two new messages.

Derek: Rain check something came up sorry

Ren: Sorry sis hope everything is fine I explain later

Seriously boys is all I could mentally say to my self. I eventually made it to the waiting area. Raven saw me and got up. We began to walk out and towards his car. When we get into his car and he begins pulling out is when he finally breaks his silence.

Raven "So is she ok? Are you ok?" he asked worried.

"Shes fine and so am I. She is no longer kinda of in a coma she is still in the process of healing though."

Raven "That's good news. But why are you still upset?"

"I'm not upset just mad that they both kinda ditched me"

Raven "Who?"

"Ren and Derek both sent me texts canceling plans."

Raven "That's funny"

"How is that funny?"

Raven "Cause Ren texted Nora and I. There are rogues roaming around. They caught a few of them in the woods. Ren wants us to babysit you."

"I don't need a babysitter" I said crossing my arms.

Raven laughed "Remember what happened last time you were alone."

"That was different!!"

Raven "Well I've already asked mom and she said yes. So you can stay the night you just gotta sleep in Nora's room."

"Ok"

Raven "Go get your over night bag then" he said with a smile while parking in front of my house.

I went inside and up the stairs and began to pack a change of clothes, pajamas, toiletries, and a phone charger all in my bag. I then headed down the stairs out the front door. I began making my way to Ravens car. Once again I was staying a night at Ravens house. Note to my self after things die down I need to focus on strengthening my self.
